The Making Of Uncharted 4 - Pushing Technical Boundaries Part 2 (gameplay)

Holy crap, that skybox!

Edit: You the best Shin-Ra!

Weird distorsion of the background, is it a .jpeg ?

I really hope that ND doesn't make the game half driving (keep it as like a nice change of pace set piece). I know they're unrelated but Arkham Knight really makes me weary of any action game that boasts about driving mechanics.

I hope they nerf Drakes climbing with this new system. My man Drake upper body strength was crazy last gen.

I can't wait to play this game

No way.

They did that in UC3 and it was a mess. For the game they are making which quickly transitions between stealth, melee and gunplay they should stick to how TLOU did it.

Yeah I was gonna say this was essentially what uc3 had and I didn't think it worked that well.

Now what's the next step in your master plan?

I believe they have even talked about introducing vehicles into MP after the game releases. I'm assuming some kind of new modes and maps based around vehicles. Hell maybe they could even add some kind of racing game to finally give us Unkarted.

Wonder if that weird dark shadow around Drake here is just that, a shadow. Hopefully it isn't an effect to identify when we're hidden.

If I have any concerns at all it would be how well the jeep stuff is received. Seems like there at least three sceneries where the jeep is used and if that is not done extremely well I can see critics dog piling on it much like the bat mobile in Arkham.

Personally I welcome it, and think they should have a MP jeep race as a joke DLC so we can finally get Unkarted.

Holy shit, this second tech vid is much better. More tech insight and so many new incredible snippets of gameplay. Just looks unbelievable.

I can barely believe how good it all looks and how much they have improved coming from U2/U3.

It's a complete generation leap in all regards, the way it's all coming together. Graphics, animations, gameplay, story, details, traversal. They did it all and never settled on just pushing out 'another one' of these games. They went the extra mile and then kept running.

It's hard to say for sure, but it seems like the actual new stuff here like this shot looks cleaner than the older footage. Going frame by frame through the HQ version and the motion blur looks a lot smoother, as one example.
.

I think it's very noticeable.

If they put in a racing mode that allows for passengers to shoot at each other it could be pretty goddamn cool.

Haven't played MGS V yet, but I wonder how these two will compare in terms of controls and A.I. Story will obviously be better on Uncharted 4. Visuals from both games look impressive, but Uncharted 4 will probably win there because of the even greater attention to detail, animations, and textures. MGS V looked really good at 60 FPS and fairly detailed for an open world game.

Based on my MP experience and impressions we've seen/heard, I think that UC4 will probably have the best third person shooter campaign I've ever played to this point. I know people here loved other campaigns from games like Vanquish, Max Payne 3, Gears of War, and MGS V, but every single thing here looks top tier and most importantly, it looks FUN and meaty. The cat and mouse gameplay and careful planning and smart use of resources made TLoU fun to play on replays. Uncharted taking the best features from there while improving the animations, melee, combat and having all these objects with their own physics that can be moved and deformed. All this is going to make the game feel even more alive than TLoU

Holy shit, this is the most impressive console game I've ever seen. Goddamn, Naughty Dog is definitely looking to deliver for you PS4 owners out there.

Since Sully seems to be always with Nate, there should have been a campaign coop option. It would have enhanced the experience a lot in my opinion. Not that the Uncharted games are lacking in the quality department.
I won't say "should," considering it may not be feasible to have co-op possible that in the campaign the way it is right now, but I absolutely would love co-op in situations you get in single player. Stuff like jumping from truck to truck during shootouts and having campaign-like progression and objectives in co-op would be great.

i can kind of see the concerns about the driving sections being potentially overwrought (citing the recent batman game as an example) but this is ND we're talking about

the driving section from the E3 footage looks incredibly fun, for starters

and i really doubt ND would let themselves get high on this new mechanic, think it'll be used appropriately

It actually looks like the bigger globs of muddy water deform giving the impression of air resistance.

A company being excited for their new game is a huge slap in the face to all the fans that liked their old games.
