Holy shit, those overcast bits are set in Scotland?!

Fuck me! One of my favourite series' of all time coming to my home country. This is going to be an absolute treat.

Also, it looks perfect. That really is what an overcast tryst to the Highlands looks like.

They were filming there a few months back. You must've just missed them.

All that posts about Motorstorm now just make me sad : (

OT: Incredible looking game, can't wait for the next videos!

I dunno, maybe timing your hits correctly should do something, or maybe you whiff your attacks or they get blocked/countered if you don't do that. Just something a bit more involving than mashing on the square button, or pressing square triangle square (I think they got rid of that, right?) All I know is the melee in UC3 felt awful. It was much better in TLOU yea, but it was still pretty simpleminded, however you had the benefit of multiple melee weapons with different properties along with being able to craft them and upgrade them yourself.

I mean, it is still primarily a 3rd person shooter.

I have very little doubt this will be the best game Naughty Dog has made to date.

You know it's open-world because there's towers to climb. ;)

Pulling that sniper down's going to alert his buddy at the bottom though.

That looks very nice but I don't like this area's design, looks kinda bland compared to the city and the jungle.

The jeep chance in the city still looks the best visually to me, though the africa parts also looks incredible, don't like England or wherever it is that this gif is taken from.

That's Scotland for you. :p

I remember being underwhelmed by the initial reveal. First game in a long time to actually get consistently upgraded as times goes by.

If you forget that it was originally supposed to be 60fps

It's a three second gif with not a lot of context. I doubt every split second of the game will look incredible but it feels a bit early to judge sections very much. *shrugs*

Didn't see this one Gif'd:

Just really loving the hand to hand animations.

The texture work, lighting and animations are all really good. Only thing is, I don't get where those random particles are coming from when he lifts his arm. Unless it's off the contact from his arm gazing the wall. A touch exaggerated.

Exaggerated, definitely, but you have to exaggerate to make the effect read.

Its's probably shrapnel from bullets hitting the wall.

I don't see how this will be anything less than one of the best games of the generation.

Well they could fuck up the pacing with all the open levels and driving stuff, driving in general might not be fun.

story could suck too like in U3.

Maybe there are not enough set pieces as big as the Jeep chase and other moments will feel pretty meh in comparison, that scene looks extremely expansive, not sure they can put more moments like this on such scale, on PS3 they couldn't do such stuff technically, here they can but maybe money will be the limitation.

Just some forced concerns for ya ;)

Maybe coming from the rifle impact with the wall.

My initial impression was that those were water effects as Nate looks a bit wet. But the Gif slowed down like that, I'm not quite sure.

It's not. It's meant to be dust and the like. It happens when he's slammed into the wall as well. If the color of the particles matched the color of the masonry it wouldn't stand out at all.

Still...it's a pretty darn good looking game!
I would definitely pay more attention to drake's and the henchmen animation and other stuff than these tiny particles.

With Neil Druckmann at the helm, this isn't a Devil's Advocacy even worth entertaining.

Oh, don't get me wrong! I'm defending the effect! Look at my comment before that. I think they are an incredible detail. Just saying that the only reason it seems to chafe with some some people's immersion is the color of the particles in relation to the wall. I'm not bothered by it.

Looks like sparks from the gun scraping against the bricks?

i sincerely doubt they would blow their wad on the footage already shown in the E3 trailer, i'm sure that's one of several monumental set piece moments.

I hope it is...but man..the last of us...Something about that game...the time...I was just completely absorbed by it...I adore that game.

to be frank, i don't think its even possible for an uncharted game to better TLOU

obviously it could on a fun factor level, on a moment to moment gameplay level, on a technical level - but in terms of overall package? for me there's no chance

that's not a shot at uncharted, its one of my favorite series all time, but TLOU seeps into your soul, there is primal storytelling going on in that game, and the intimacy, the relationship, the survival - you just can't match the lasting impact that has with a light-hearted adventure romp

thats not to say Uncharted 4 cant deliver feels, i'm sure it can and will - but it wont be the same, at least not for me

Nice new footage, but I wished they talked about graphics tech in these videos. Animations are very impressive at least.

Another random point of commendation I have to give, I just love how amazingly minimal the HUD is. A random weapon icon element only when you're actually shooting, that is otherwise constantly disappearing when not needed, so you just have a full screen of rich, beautiful visuals. Not even a health bar or anything else. All of that portrayed through colour shifts and post processing. Plasma lovers appreciate the effort.

Yea, after glossing over it a few times, I think that's what it is.
