Guys, the reason there are no buttons is because your inputs will be based on voice commands.

"Up, B!"
"Down, Back, X!"

My uncle works for Nintendo and I saw it in action, it's awesome. Nintendo continues to innovate.

If this is legit, holy fuck Nintendo doesn't wish to play ball AT ALL! I will def need to watch the launch from the sidelines for this one. This has so much crash & burn or change the fucking world potential. Real or not, Nintendo will always be fresh out of fucks to be given.

Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much
3rd party is going to be dead on this thing isn't it?

Western third party has been dead on Nintendo platforms for 20 years, that isn't going to change until they make a successful machine. Nintendo and its shareholders are aiming at making a new Wii, not a competitor to the PS4.

If they can do that then maybe they have a small chance of getting some AAA third party titles on it.

The rage on GAF could be a good sign for Nintendo. Most here are in the Playstation/Xbone camp anyway.

As long as the non gamer crowd sees something in this. (which based on this I kinda doubt)

Nintendo really lost any touch to reality right? Like seriously "Hey, that second screen on a controller was great for our last console. Let's do it again!"

Just wow if this is real. The longer I stare at that thing the more I see some creepy Apple design in it. Wtf

If anyone wants to try how the buttons would be like, they can put this picture on a phone and try

Does anyone have the proportions of the patent drawings? i would like to make a more precise mock up of how the buttons would be

Whoa this post is underrated! I want something like this!

Maybe i also accepted a similar idea with the controller being the visor to scan stuff, but ehh.. this could've been done on Wii U already outside of power.

Anyway, reveal it already, NINTY!

Not even making a successful machine helped Nintendo.

I hope this is fake. I really dislike touch screen buttons.

touch screen A and B buttons just below the right stick.

I mean, there's definitely a difference between haptic buttons and the touch screen buttons you're used to, at least in theory. Again, I'm waiting to see implementation because that's what'll make or break it

Would this really be the first Nintendo console/handheld without the legendary Nintendo DPad?

The DPad on the Wii U/New 3DS are absolutely amazing, I'll be really sad to see them disappear.

If is real... if have buttons on the back i am ok. No buttons not going to buy.

I used to play my SNES and Genesis controllers backwards sometimes just to be a dick in 2 player competitive games, but I cannot imagine a controller with "buttons on the back" as a standard, you need to be able to see what you're pressing unless you're a real cool guy nerd like I was.

Perhaps he's wondering why someone would shoot a man before throwing him out of a plane.
Dammit E3, hurry the hell up! We need to know what the fuck this thing truly is!

If that is true then, based on the fact that the Wii U game pad, wii u pro controller, and the n3ds all have the analogue sticks above the buttons, maybe the detachable grip on the dev kits have buttons on them, which would be under the screen? Just a random thought I had.

It's possible which is why I laugh at people losing their minds over touchscreen buttons.

Yo guys, any of you have $500? Let's start an accessory business

We'll sell little rubber nipples that stick to the screen and can pressed to simulate buttons

The haptic button idea isn't some farflung fantasy, it's literally built into this same rumor. Again, I can't say how well it'll work, but it's a real technology that could feasibly be an acceptable replacement, or even an improvement

Do any of you guys have experience with haptics? I really can't imagine how convincing that'd feel

you know how buttons protrude, and you can rest your fingers on them before you press them? haptic feedback is like that but you can't feel them protrude so you have look at the controller or guess where they are before you maybe press them

I was on board with the Wii controller and the Wii U controller from day one, and I'm happy with them. If this is real and there is no additional ulterior information (like an attachment or some sort of context changing what it sounds like), though... I don't get it, at all. I don't even see what it would bring.

Hmm, oval shape. The N-Gage was super comfortable, I see why they'd want to go a similar direction. I also think its a good idea to not have buttons, everyone prefers haptic feedback, especially gamers.

But then, I mocked the Wii at first and then Nintendo made me eat crow (regarding sales anyway, never did buy in to the waggle gimmick). So who knows.
