Quantum Break PC performance thread

I might be wrong but I can't help but feel that this PC port was not in development for long. I realize XO shares a lot with the PC in terms of hardware and the whole point of UWP and Dx12 is to facilitate easier porting...but I'm sure it still requires a lot of extra work. Remedy has always been very competent on PC. There has to be a reason for this.

Yeah but he was using a 4 year old AMD CPU.
The whole Windows push seems a bit rushed, look at the glaring issues, I'm still sticking with my thought that is ms was in Sonys shoes dominating with Xbox one we wouldn't be seeing this whole sharing games across platforms it feels like a reaction to losing in the console space and pressure from above in ms to push windows with games.

I bet this game's going to run really well on my 2GB 670GTX.

Shame to see the string of great Remedy PC games broken. I wonder if they literally only started working on the port after Microsoft announced it.

His other comment says having to alt+f4 to quit the game..... Why do I have a feeling we have people waking up and just reposting all the stuff from last night? These still don't read like they are even playing the game. At this point we can only rely on gaffers as everything is skewed now on Twitter

Amusingly, if they had bothered to release the game at midnight, before early word on performance issues had surfaced, they would have had my money already. This enforced wait, that means a lot of people here in the UK won't be able to have the bloody thing even downloaded fully on the day of release, means I've lost all enthusiasm for it, so I think I'll give it a miss.

Heh, same here. Had there been pre-load, I would've probably bought the game a couple of days ago without thinking much.

Kinda glad we were forced to wait, now I'll definitely wait a couple of extra days at least.

Older drivers work fine, the issue started since driver version 641.43 and has been there in every driver release since.
Ah I see. Assumed it was a persisting issue ever since.

Considering he works at PC Gamer, I assume they have received the review codes at last.

At this point it would be better if they just delayed it before people can actually buy it and try to fix it in a reasonable time frame.

He literally had some of the best HW available on the market. He brute forced the living shit out of it.

Yep it was the same thing with Arkham Knight. Those of us who were fortunate enough to have 980ti's or Titans at the time could just about get through the game but everyone else was SOL.

Even with a 980ti I still wasn't satisfied so got a refund and then later rebought the game on the PS4 for next to nothing on Amazon due to a price glitch.

Does the Windows store have a refund system?

That didn't work for stuff like Batman which was a mess regardless of setup especially if you went above 30. I got moderate stuttering on my 980ti and I was one of the "lucky" people for whom the game ran reasonably well - others on similar hardware reported much worse problems.

Ok so there've been three people so far that are saying it has serious performance issues and one guy with top of the line HW streaming the game and still having texture loading and frame pacing problems. How many different people need to say the game runs poorly for you to think it's an acceptable conclusion exactly? It's not like the Win 10 store has a fantastic track record at this point so I'm failing to see why the wise course of action here is to give them the benefit of the doubt. They've proven multiple times they deserve no benefit of the doubt in fact they deserve utmost skepticism.

Even with the steady 60fps he had texture loading problems and frame pacing issues (showed up as skips when moving the camera despite the framerate staying at 60)

even if you brute force, bad optimization would still lead to bad framepacing etc. ?
edit: hopefully it's a driver thing... :(

Which is why it had frame pacing issues and texture loading issues in the stream

I had a 6GB setup with 4GB & 2GB card on each slots back then. It was fine, but I heard that it's much better if you have two identical cards so your PC can benefit from the dual-channel so I switched the 2GB card with a 4GB one later. Though as suggested, you might want to ask the experts over the PC building thread.

Yeah, always have your RAM in pairs. You can still mix-match though, myself I'm running 2x2gB + 2x4gB for a total of 12gB, running dualchannel mode without issues.

It's sad because if this turned out to be good I would have upgraded to Win10 and all to play this. I refuse to play this at 720p on my Xbox One.

Didn't we receive info that no review stuff got sent out for quantum break on PC early? Meaning.....they would be sent out today or that they never even sent out review codes

Beware, Nvidia's 364.72 (and 364 line in general) driver has serious stability issues so unless they put out a new one indicating big improvements in QB, stay on older drivers, the last known stable build is 362.00.

No they're not. All available 364 drivers are rock solid and have no stability issues whatsoever. I'm using .72 since their release and didn't run into any issues at all.

A solid technical explanation, yeah.

This is the only explanation there can be considering that the game is limited to UWP and WinStore.

So let's say if there is a driver issue and the game would run better on AMD hardware, we blame UWP?

Not saying that's the case but it's not that easy, no?

Considering that ominous one dude who was streaming the PC version, I assume they sent out codes before the launch in a few hours, yeah. Kinda curious as to why though, some people might have jumped the gun and bought it, now there is negative impressions going all around.

"Xbox one is better than Titan X" now at $299.

Why did they decide to sent early copies to streamers but not to reviewers?

Yeah, that myth is really ridiculous, drivers works like a charm.

I encountered solid color freezes and constant driver crashes on both .51 and .72, lots of users on both gaf and nvidia official forums reported same issues too.

So, how many times more powerful does your PC need to be to run this game in about the same state as an XBOX one? Seems that if you only have a rig 3 times more powerful, it won't cut it.

Screw these shitty ports.
