Quantum Break PC performance thread

Hopefully we'll get some more feedback on QB performance. Not going to update to win10 for some rushed port.

I trust T10 will do a good job but it's a bare bones Apex version with no wheel support so I think I'm good for now.

I know how it runs. I'm good thanks.

By the way game runs at 1080 on XB1 with shadows and certain details at 720P. All I'm saying is if you really have no other option the XB1 version is no slouch. I considered the PC version but had a feeling the PC version would have some early issues.

The Windows Store doesn't support preloads for whatever dumb reason.

It doesn't even support pre-orders. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that development of the WinStore used an early version of the X1's XBL store as a base (it also didn't support pre-orders for quite some time).

QB is not 1920x1080 on XBONE. It's 720p with reconstruction.

Output is not the same as render.

Apparently it's supposed to come out in an hour. Can't preload or even access the product page on Windows Store until then.

Link is here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/games/quantum-break/9nblggh6h0rv

But when the store launches it still says it's not available. Unfortunately I leave for work in 5-10 minutes so I can't wait it out until 9am local time. And it'll take six hours to download over my connection. Guess I'm firing it up at midnight... (if at all, for today).

Honestly if Microsoft wants to unify his platforms for the future of their gaming vision, they really need to do something for the Store. I think it will be more useful to have a launcher like the one they had with GFWL than use the Windows Store itself like is it now.

I think thats what they actually want, but they fucked up GFWL so badly they've been told they're never getting the resources to make a dedicated PC gaming client again.
Which is why they've just grabbed the Win10 Store and UWAs even though they clearly aren't intended for anything more than mobile apps.

I hate PC games called "apps".

Well, worst case is 2009 with L4D2 as far as I remember. Nearly 7 years later, and Microsoft isn't even up to date.
Microsoft just want's to reduce the bandwidth use by using a brand-new JIT download method, much more efficient than downloading the game earlier in encrypted form, and then decrypting it slowly. With JIT download methods all those worries are a thing of the past.

Amazing.

Yeah, they clearly fucked up GFWL but why not do R&D correctly before creating a new mess ?

They have enough ressources to do something properly, it's Windows 10, their flagship even for gaming and they come with that ?

The game does not run at 1080p. Remedy utilized a method called "reconstruction" to make a cleaner looking 720p image.

They don't allow Gears to be purchased in Germany either, people bypassed it by choosing Austria from what I remember.

edit: nevermind

I can confirm that Windows10 'apps' (such as Gears for example, from several sources) can't be purchased here in Indonesia as well.

Maybe it's the same case for the rest of SEA, or even the whole Asian countries.

I just saw what people said here and how they were able to get Gears so maybe it's the same issue.

Alright, they really don't want to sell this game at this point. I will spare money then.

edit: it is available now. 69.99 €. Console price huh?

Well it's out, lets see what happens

$71.30 in Croatia on the appstore, rofl.

It doesn't seem to be notably cheaper anywhere. I've checked the Indian, Namibian, Russian and Ukrainian stores, and the lowest price is USD$49.

Why on earth have I just spent £60 on this?

I didn't even like Alan Wake... (and I spent something ridiculous on that as well). Plus my PC will probably die trying to play this.

Oh well. At least the download doesn't seem to be as awful as everyone makes the Windows Store out to be - I've got 4 gigs of it already. Only another 38 or so to go!!!

I propose a raffle of sorts to decide who is taking one for the team and letting us know how it is.
