Complaints are legit. We were told that many could expect our Vive to arrive on the 5th. When that didn't happen customer service told many of us to expect them at different times, all days that have passed by without a shipping notification. As far as we can tell they were just lying to get us off the phone. They were also shipping out of order and (apparently) sending payments to banks incorrectly so that they were getting denied (then auto cancelling those orders). Lots of other screw ups, mostly minor though.

That said, the main problem here is that if people that ordered within the first minute pre-orders went live haven't received shipping notifications yet then I have my doubts they'll fill all of the orders expected to arrive in April.

And, with so many of us super excited for the Vive and still waiting for it to arrive, there's not much else to talk about. But if you're saying we're being whiny babies then, yeah, you're totally right!

Yes I'm saying stop being big babies.

I've never wanted someone to take $870 from me so badly. Just take my money so I know my order is going to stick. :|
My charge went in last week and fell off around Tuesday. Normally (as in literally every other high demand product I've preordered ever) that means it's shipping imminently or in the next day or so. Not with these guys.

Some guys on reddit talked to support today and apparently no tracking numbers are going out today at all .. Lovely.

Spending £750 on a device and your order being in limbo is a good reason to complain

The limbo ones are the only ones with a real valid complaint. The ones where cards (not paypal) have been charged, but no shipment info. The ones who have gotten cancellation messages despite never wanting to cancel.

Not having the Vive is one thing. Not knowing the general status of your order is another.

What how? Did your payment get rejected before or something? I though all the orders through like :07-:09 were accounted for.

Um, I paid with PayPal - confirmation at x:03. US-East.

No shipping, no nothing.

The "first-come-first-serve" line from HTC is absolute horse shit.

Did HTC ever specify the exact date you all were supposed to receive the Vive? Didn't they just say that shipments will start in April? Getting fed up of seeing this thread clogged up with shipment complaints...

The problem is mostly to do with them fulfilling orders that were placed considerably later than ones that have yet to be fulfilled. It's really not a good feeling. There'd be a lot fewer complaints if they were shipping in a reasonable manner and not being unfair to users that put the effort in to get their order in early. If the order of the shipments was fine and as it should be, I'd be a lot happier right now and wouldn't be complaining anywhere - just joining in with the general anticipation of shipment.

This is a launch thread, by the way, you know - about the launch of a system. Shipments are a pretty big part of a launch ;)

Latest word is that customer service said no shipments in US/Canada are going out again until Monday so don't waste your time worrying about it until Monday night.

What? They're catching flack for shipping problems, and they decide the best thing to do is just not ship anything out on Friday?

Sorry but it has been an absolute mess, not helped by HTC coming on Twitter saying everything was fine.

No technically they didn't guarantee exact dates, but you would expect earlier orders to be fulfilled earlier. Even allowing for regional batches, you have later orders in the same city being delivered before early ones. Then you have all the people that had orders cancelled by DR on Friday - a week ago. Clearly they were being processed so they would have arrived on 5th April. But since that mess I don't think *any* of those have shipped. Going from the front of the queue - with payment being attempted - to not knowing what is happening, is understandably frustrating I think

I just called support about the error when checking the order status page. They claim it's due to high traffic on the website currently. They said it will be fixed and to try again in 24 hours. They sent me an email to reset my password, so I guess I'll wait until tomorrow before I try again.

They also said on the order history in the HTC profile page it will say "Submitted" until it's shipped. It's probably best I just stop trying to check for now, lol.

The next wave is probably on a container ship in the middle of the pacific ocean right now. HTC people aren't chilling in their warehouse with their feet up on your vive lighting cigars with $800 bills.

I can't help thinking they've shipped the units that were designated for people that got their orders cancelled, to other people and now we'll have to wait for new stock to arrive

They should have held them considering it was their fuck up that cancelled them - literally minutes after sending a reassuring email saying they'd try and redo payment so don't worry

I had the same error after ordering one the other day. I changed my password, but that didn't fix it either. It started working in the end though so it probably is because it's being overwhelmed. Took about 48hours until I could log in.

It's exactly what they've done, and fucked everyone else over, fair play to the guys that got it way earlier than they should (I'd have been loving it) but no I got the shit end of the stick like a lot of others.

Nothing happens when I press the menu button. I would be grateful if somebody found a solution. Reinstalled SteamVR several times, reinstalled Vive software once (and it changed the background), updated the controller firmware too.

To give some first impressions, I wasn't particularily immersed until they let me blow balloons and push them around. Tracked controllers are a must-have feature.

Ah, well, that's good to know. I'll just give it some time and see, then.

That's likely what happened. I'm in the cancelled/reordered batch and it's infuriating how vague the answers we're getting are. JulesHTC seems to be dodging these questions on her twitter as well.

To think we could have had our vives already... They'd better do right by us and foot the shipping bill or something. We shouldn't be suffering because of their mess.

They were shipping out of order so even if that screw up didn't happen it's still unlikely you'd have received it by now.

I wish I could shake the living hell out of these corporate idiots who decide when to launch, why the fuck can't they hold off, get loads of stock in, sort everything behind the scenes out. But no they'd rather half arse it and rush and piss the majority off in the process.

They never promised anyone that their Vive would arrive on the 5th. When I ordered they said that orders would START arriving on the 5th and that I would receive mine in April. I literally ordered the instant that the link went up and received mine on the 5th but even then I wasn't expecting to.

I'm an :01 US order, no fraud cancellation, CC charged successfully last Friday/Saturday IIRC (available funds have been -$862 since) and I haven't heard/received jack shit. Unfortunately my situation is not unique and seems to describe a lot of people (possibly most?) based on the Reddit shipping thread and statistics/data they're compiling. I don't know what to tell you if you think these folks don't have a right to complain.

This is of course easier to say since you've got yours :p

I defy the claim there's anyone in here that'd be all zen and shit about their unit not arriving by now if they ordered in those first few minutes, especially with the out of order shenanigans going on.

Just changed my password and tried again. It worked this time.

For those that received their Vive did you actually have to be the person there to sign for it? I won't be at where it's shipping to, which is my parents house.

I haven't received my Vive yet, but orders have a direct signature requirement, which according to FedEx means:

"Direct Signature Required: FedEx obtains a signature from someone at the delivery address. If no one is at the address, we reattempt delivery."

Meaning anyone at the delivery address can sign. So as long as someone is there you should be good.

Edit: My order confirmation states the person who placed the order has to sign for it, however. That conflicts with what FedEx states on their site. Hopefully someone else can confirm.

They did straight up say the week beforehand that Vives would start arriving on the 5th.

They said they sold 15,000 vives in 10 minutes, insinuating that that would be their launch allotment, which would mean that around :02 I could only have maybe 3-4k people in line ahead of me. So have only a couple thousand shipped total? We were led to believe both of these launches were going to be more substantial all the way up until a couple days ago when people started calling them out.

They also lied to me last Thursday when they said my declined order was fine and would be charging again in 24-48 hours.

They lied to me again the next day saying it would recharge in 24-48 hours and that I didn't lose my spot.

My order was subsequently canceled on Saturday morning. I had to jump through hoops and get a new order placed and again was told I didn't lose my place in line and to expect shipment "any day".

Fast forward an entire week. The pending charge in my bank account is gone, I've received no shipping. Other shipments are STILL going out to people that were thousands of spots behind me in the order cue. Yesterday support told me they can no longer estimate when I'll get my Vive but it should be "soon."

And NOW today I can't even access my order information anymore. No orders in my history on HTCVive.com and I get incorrect order/password messages when I try to follow the link in my order confirmation e-mail, when it worked fine as of yesterday.

What in the fuck is going on? How can anyone defend being strung along like this?

I gotta get out of this state. haha
Well, thanks to our poorly run state our taxes are going up.
Yeah, me too. New Orleans, same price. Except, you know...May shipment.
Baton Rouge here.

Alright, that's good. Someone is pretty much there all the time so that works out. I didn't want to have it delivered to my apartment.

The struggle is real. I rode on that struggle bus with the Rift launch. I eventually canceled and pre-ordered the Vive because I was tired of Oculus not saying anything. So I am in the may orders. It really did wonders for me because now I don't have to worry about it until May now.

I know the feeling guys and I suspect I'll get to know it again in May.

At least that whining is on-topic..!

Anyway, I'm onboard the apathy-bus right now. I'm now convinced that I'll get the call from DHL when I and my family go abroad in about a week's time..

Stumbled on this quote from a Steam review for Vanishing Realms:

After defeating a skeleton archer in a bow battle, I laughed, stood up from behind my cover, and said "If this was World of Warcraft people would never leave.

Guess I have my weekend cut out

Is there a Vive thread that isn't about shipping? I understand that y'all need to talk about shipping issues, but I'm having a hard time finding the thread that is impressions from people who are already using the device.
