NPD Sales Results for March 2016

I was really hoping MLB would defeat UFC.

MLB is fantastic, but I don't understand why UFC sold more. Any idea what the sales split was between PS4/PS3. I am hoping they finally drop PS3 support and go all in the PS4 version. UFC on the other hand is a glitchy mess, and I'm on a loss at how it reviews so high and performed so well.

I'm honestly surprised Xbox One isn't #1 this month. With The Division exclusive marketing, KI3, $50 price cut, and insane Gamestop deals going on, I thought this month would upset the trend.

Too bad the Wii U is reaching the end of it's life cycle. Would have been interesting to see if Twilight Princess could take the top spot for Zelda series (including releases) back from OoT.

As of 2015
Ocarina of Time
64: 7.6 Million
3DS: 3.7 Million
11.3

Twilight Princess
Wii: 7.26 Million
GC: 1.43 Million
8.69

How well did Wind Waker HD do? A bit over a million or so? TP is probably somewhere in that spot, so it probably wouldn't beat OOT regardless of where it is in the Wii U's lifespan unfortunately.

Probably going to be really damn tough with the recent Nintendo Selects version of OoT3D.

Speaking of, I wonder how well the whole Nintendo Selects line did for the month. At my store, it seemed like people were definitely hankering for the Mario games, Pikmin 3 and OoT3D.

It's really sad to see what happened to Street Fighter 5. It's a really amazing game. Why couldn't they just have delayed it a few months and delivered a complete package? Let's hope Evo pulls more blood into its veins.

The question remains about how much having a full package with all the single player features that people (including me) wanted at launch would have raised sales in the real market.
Surely the game would have enjoyed much better word of mouth and higher sales.
But higher to the point to turn a bomba into a major success?
I kinda doubt it, the harsh reality might have been that the series is simply strongly declining anyway.

Btw yeah I also think that the core gameplay in SF5 is top notch fighting.

That Sony PR with The Division mention is like DAMN SON. Didn't expect to see that in there, especially considering MS has timed exclusive content and marketing for it.

So Pokken charted and SFV didn't despite the huge advantage in customer base and SFV getting aggressive promotion on consoles far earlier (December '14 vs WiiU version of Pokken announced in August '15).

Capcom fucked up. Capcom fucked up REAL bad.

Wind Waker HD is at 1.69 million worldwide. I expect TP HD to beat that, but there's no chance it will be able to get close to Ocarina's current numbers.

Why would people be surprised at Twilight Princess doing so well? Ignoring the fact that it's Twilight Princess, did they miss Majora's Mask tearing up February last year? These Zelda rereleases have done well quite often, and the Wii U has enough life in it to give decent software sales to certain titles.

I was thinking the same.

Many people compared TP to Wind Waker, which sold 124,000 first month... i always said a comparation with Majora Mask was better.

1) Better Wii U sales compared to Wind Waker launch
2) Amiibo bundle
3) Amazon (yes, cause i get all, but it was just too insane)
4) Twilight Princess is just the bigger Zelda ever... good sales should be expect.

Yeah, it's pretty unbelievable that a Zelda game and a Pokemon game could sell decent numbers.

Next thing you know Madden is going to be charting.

Exclusive software on the weakest-selling platform by a decent margin, one of which is a HD remake and the other is a niche spinoff.

1.52 million as of the same time in 2015. Twilight Princess did do much better compared to Wind Waker when looking at their original releases but the short time it will, presumably, be on the market will work against TP HD in that regard.

UFC 2 was out March 15 , MLB March 29.

Damn! SFV will definitely have to re-release the game with all content from this year after they finally fix all of the core issues.

Seeing how obviously strapped for resources Capcom are, and how log it's taking them to even get out the content that was on their road map, if they were going to make a much needed Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, I can't see it releasing any time before Q4.

You'd have thought that after the critical and commercial flop and the massive fall out from not having an arcade mode, they'd be working around the clock to implement one, and be shouting from the rooftops that it's coming. But still radio silence on the matter. Capcom's PR around this game has been as poor as the shipped content.

SFV is the most disappointing game I've bought in years, Mostly because it had (has?) the ability to be amazing. The core game is wonderful. But I don't blame anyone for skipping out on buying it. It's a glorified demo and still has technical issues.

What the hell?

SFV had terrible first month sales. What the hell are you people smoking expecting it to chart in its second month. Seriously.

I'm face palming so hard at some of these SFV posts.

For the love of God, sfv launched in February. Game did not do well but you must be smoking something good if you thought it was going to chart again in March
