(Rumor)(spoilers) this Possible UC4 Easter Egg oh boy

There's just too much for everything to lead up to a Crash Bandicoot easter egg inside Uncharted 4. The launch trailer, Shawn Layden's shirt, the website suddenly going down and getting updated as recently as February 2016, hints from known insiders here on GAF.

E3 of Dreams, Part II. It's happening. I've booked tickets for the hype train, it's arriving early for me.

Do you mean you are actually Crash?Or it is just a level with Drake running from a boulder like in Crash Bandicoot?

Really people. It's an Easter egg about their history, why would you think this means a crash is coming?

Crash is back:
-The PSX shirt akin to FF7 at PSX 2014.
-The video before PS4 came out
-Insiders like Verendes Hinting at it
-A big toy Insider confirmed Sony was bringing Crash back this year at the NY Toy convention
-Various hints from Sony twitter.

Guys it's happening.

And now this.

They've never done explicit Crash easter eggs before, but tons of Jak & Daxter ones. Always figured it was a rights thing. This seems to indicate that something has changed.

Crash. You can even see the original PSX startup with the sound and everyting, and Nathan complaints that it takes long to load.

Crash Bandicoot was a decent game. No idea why some hold such love for it, as if the game was some godly ascension from the heavens. It was just okay.

They're the selling PSN Classic games every single month in Europe.

There is money to be made with the name alone.

Crash is a classic Sony game. Sony will reference it for as long as PlayStation is a brand. It's a pillar of their history. And it has absolutely nothing to do with a new game being in development.

Just got this spoiled on Facebook. I had seen this thread before but didn't enter because I didn't want to know, but saw a page on FB go "Could this be a Crash Easter Egg in Uncharted 4?"
Fuck this, putting Crash there wasn't necessary.

This is really odd, especially since ND never did a crash bandicoot Easter egg since they started making other games until now. I can't take all this teasing, I really wonder if Sony bought the crash IP.

Prior to now, Sony hasn't owned the IP so it would be infringement if Sony would reference it like so since, at the moment we know that Activision own the IP. This isn't a case of Sony finally acknowledging that Crash Bandicoot was big for Sony and they are finally giving it a nod, this would be complete copyright infringement if some deal wasn't in place to either license the rights to Crash Bandicoot or if Sony had purchased the IP outright.

It's only a matter of time before this hits N4G and tons of outlets run articles about it.

This is a HUGE deal.

They would absolutely need ownership and/or permission from Activision to do this.

They had no way of legally doing a direct reference. The best they could do were all the various "run towards the screen" chases.

They could have gone with something like "Could this Uncharted 4 Easter egg mean something else?" but nope, they had to mention Crash and ruin it for whoever else is reading. Fuck I'd buy a copy right now but I got so much stuff from university to finish and I'm sure I'd get distracted if I bought the game.

Explains why there was a new render of Crash that was explicitly trying to look like an old render.

Edit: Turns out the render wasn't real.

Sony has distribution rights to the 5 PS1 games, so the boxart seems fine.

They don't have the rights necessary to use this regardless, because it's use of the IP itself, they're not just distributing the game. They cannot distribute it as part of a new product without permission.
