Wait, Phoenix Wright is a possibility? All the other games released and discussed up to now have been PlayStation games since I thought Sony had a small print-run policy that made LRG possible in the first place... Is there a Phoenix Wright game on a PlayStation platform or is Nintendo willing to do small print-runs as well?

Edit: please please please do a Spelunky run

The fuck? Is that a digital-only game in the US? That is dumb.
It's a small game sold for cheap. Physical copies have far worse profit margins than digital games and it's obvious a retro-ish game like I Am Setsuna is never going to set the charts on fire. It's not dumb. Somewhat disappointing from a consumer perspective, but understandable from theirs.

Ok, it's just that you indicated you would be finishing up with the US orders next week and starting with international orders after that. I am in the US, should I give it that long to be "Unfulfilled"?

No, if you haven't seen your order shipped by next Friday, send Douglas an email and see what is up.

It is a possibility, but like Atelier or other big games we'd be distributing rather than publishing. We'd have to pay a pretty high per unit cost to Capcom and buy 5k+. We haven't made any progress on Dual Destinies, but it's a personal want of mine. I own all the physical Ace Attorney games and have refused to buy Dual Destinies out of principle. I hate buying digital games - especially on Nintendo platforms.

Can't really confirm anything until QA is all set. There will probably be 2 releases per platform per month (if a game is PS4 exclusive, it will be posted along with a Vita exclusive - for example Lost Sea will lauch alongside Soldner X-2). I don't think any of our Summer games will be over $24.99, but we have a tentative August release that may end up at $34.99.

We're also really close to sealing a deal to make those Atelier games a reality. :) No idea on a date for those as no final deal is set. They're going to be a big expense for us so we'll need everyone's help spreading the word if/when they go on sale. We're pushing hard for these because the demand was clear.

Hope the Atelier physical goes through... maybe something special with all 3 in one package if that is possible

Yeah some kind of bundle would be great. I'm sure it would be the most popular one! Also, if VideoGamesPlus hears about it, I'm sure there won't be ANY issues with them not selling out. (I hope that Ayesha/Shallie will also be part of the deal).

It got a physical release in Japan, thus, the expectation that we don't get shafted.

While Shallie Plus will probably be NISA, I hope LRG strikes a deal for Ayesha Plus also.

Instead of Shallie Plus, we should be worried about Sophie. That's out in June with no Vita limited edition whatsoever.

Oh right. I think I was getting Shallie mixed up with Sophie, since I had to double check, as I remembered that one came with a Vita DD version announced.

Unfortunately, a bundle would be too costly for us to undertake. We have to go from game to game and pay for subsequent releases with earnings from the first.

Arland trilogy would be first and the hope would be to follow with Ayesha and Sophie.

Ok. Makes sense. Hope the price for each is reasonable, something like 34.99. These games are always on sale digitally but not sure if that will have an effect on the final price point for physical.

Hope that turns out well because a lot of people bought Rorona, Totori and Meruru on PS3 before the Vita/Plus version was a thing and transitioned from Ayesha+ onward.
I am one of those and I don't think I'm gonna buy the first 3 again, honestly.

That's fine if it's all separate. Still, at 5000ish I think it'll be ok. And once again if there's too much supply for it, I'm sure VGP will buy some up :)

If I recall, some of the Atelier Vita games had costume DLC that was exclusive to the first month of release or so on PSN. It would be neat if those could be included in the limited releases somehow, even as DLC codes if they can't be built into the cartridge.

All the more reason to go it one game at a time. If one game fails to recoup our investment, that will be easier to swallow than all three (that would sink us).

No, that's not what I meant. One at a time is cool, I was suggesting that Ayesha+ would have been a better starting point. E&L+ and (hopefully/probably) Shallie+ have been/will be handled by NISA so the only empty spot of that trilogy is Ayesha+.

That makes sense. We're pretty far into discussions on Rorona Plus, so I don't know if we can switch at this point.

Now that I think about it, is this version of Plus the new one, that did get a physical PS3 release, or Rorona+ for Vita, based on the original Rorona for PS3?

Rorona Vanilla came out physical on PS3, and Rorona+ physical again on PS3 and digital on Vita, so that's why I thought it wasn't the best chapter to start.
But I mean, I think (hope) it'll still go smoothly anyway, but it'd be wise to keep that in mind when it'll be Ayesha+'s turn.
The start of the "Plus series" and the fact that Ayesha Vanilla was english dub only on PS3 turned away a lot of fans, so the amount of people wanting to buy Ayesha+ might be considerably higher than Rorona+/Totori+/Meruru+ individually. Or at least that's how I see it.

And since I played Rorona Vanilla, I still might buy Rorona+ considering the major improvements in this one. Probably not the other two, though.

If you do make high risk prints such as Atelier Vita where you only distribute but don't publish, consider opening them up for multiple purchases per customer after say 24h or so. That gives the people who genuinely want a copy the first chance and it can help you get rid of unsold copies after that.

There are also retailers that specialize in reselling prints like this. I know VideoGamesPlus in Canada bought quite a few Summon Night 5 copies and same goes for Play-Asia. They might be able to help you sell some volume too.

They already do that actually.
They just did it for PS4 Oddworld as it lasted just over 24 hours in fact.

good luck with atelier guys

theres so many games/LEs coming out for that series all the time that i feel like it could bomba and one of the reasons i havent even bought a game of it yet..

We would love to go after things like,

The Atelier series (there are a bunch that never got physical!)
Yakuza 5
Fatal Frame
Phoenix Wright
Attack On Titan

So yeah let us know if you'd legit buy these titles.

I'd sell everyone else's soul as well as mine for Yakuza 5

Maybe just the below poster's for Phoenix Wright and the HD Trilogy

I just wish they would do a preorder period where people could lock in an order and then they could print a few hundred or a thousand more for general sale. That would fix a lot of issues with people wanting to get a copy.

I'd be there day 1 if you needed to run a kickstarter for something like this to make sure you get a good sales amount and the funds to pay capcom. (if it was something you could even do)

Don't worry, I believe Rorona Plus is the best place to start. It's the first in chronological order and the first from the trilogy, even if it's a remake released after Totori Plus and Meruru Plus. If you need an Atelier expert on the series, at least as far as the Vita releases go, you can always check with us and I'd be happy to help you.

My issue is the region locking, I doubt this would come to Australia.

Just keep your expectations in check for the Arland triolgy, as Rorona especially has had multiple iterations and releases on platforms.

Ayesha does feel like it should have been first, as people were pretty disappointed they didn't get that but got Escha & Logy, so there's a pent up demand for Ayesha to complete the trilogy, not to mention there's still the Shallie Plus port to be announced.

I'm sure there's another way to look at things as well if they did start with the Arland trilogy. If a physical release of one of the games that's already been released on multiple systems and had multiple versions, is able to sell out, all the others should as well. If LRG is willing to take the greater risk with their endeavor and it pays off, that would look better to other companies and Koei, than something with a much smaller amount of risk. At the end of the day, we'd still likely see Ayesha and the others if Rorona did well, it would just take longer for them to come out.

I understand that Atelier fans probably have their own different favorite that they'd like to see released first, but at the end of the day, this is being used as a guinea pig to see if larger ventures are worth going after. If all they're going to do is try for safe bets, that doesn't really show anyone anything, when it comes to catching the big boys attention.

They can't ship all orders at once, shipping everything will take up to two weeks. Just wait.

US orders come first, so if you're outside the US your order probably hasn't even been looked at.

EDIT: I doubt Rorona Plus will be a problem at all. It's gonna sell out just as fast as the other games, probably faster. I mean New N Tasty was free as a PS+ title and look what happened.

No doubt there'll be a marketing push from KT as well.

Well, yea, we know from following this thread. Just surprised someone got it so soon even tho I ordered as soon as it went up in the first batch and I'm in the US. Guess they don't ship in order of orders received.

Wasn't Rorona Plus the one that they literally just threw on PSN one day and never mentioned it until the day it was out? Or was that another one lol? Would just be kinda funny if they did market the physical release, several years after they didn't market the digital. I'm sure they'd market it even if LRG is just the distributor for it, throwing some twitter posts out there every now and then can't be too taxing on their marketing team.

That is another way to look at things as well. If PS+ games can sell out at $30 for physical, surely anything with a name behind it that hasn't been on there, could as well.

Y'know, it'd be amazing to see a physical copy of the upcoming PS4 release of Dangun Feveron this fall. The shmup crowd would pay a ton for that.

Has there been any news about Playism?

Ratings for Mystery Chronicle: One Way Heroics have popped up on all the rating sites but it hasn't been announced yet afaik. It's also PS4 and Vita and had a physical release in Japan.

Could be a LRG release?

Guys,

Severed. We need to get this Vita exclusive in a beautiful physical version, complete with:

- A manual with a ton of that nice art

- Maps for every area (this would be a SUPER cool bonus: Basically make the manual more of a strategy guide with complete maps of every dungeon. The game is not too long, so it's totally feasible and would look beautiful)

- A full bestiary (again, also not very long due to the nature of the game)

LRG, pls respond

Any word on Ray Gigant?

By the way, how does it work when you wish to make a physical version of a game originally released in Japan? Do you have to make a deal with BandaiNamco, with Acttil, or with both companies?
