With mod permission, I decided to revive my NX facts thread from before which you can see HERE with the previous 24 facts, this time here adding the newest stuff from the meeting and other sources from the past week.

PLEASE READ ModBot's closing post from the last thread so we don't risk getting this thread closed as well:

ModBot said:
This thread has devolved into the types of filterless rumor discussion that we don't like to have on the forum. We can have a new NX thread when there's new information.

It's best that if you want to see the previous 24 facts, please click on the link above in the first paragraph to look back on them. It's too much I think now to repost them all here personally (I was only able to fit 18 of them in the OP of the first thread!).

Here are the newest facts that have come out since the original thread was closed, in no particular order:

1. NX will launch globally in March 2017. (Source)

Tatsumi Kimishima on April 27th said:

"We plan to release our new concept game system, currently being developed under the codename "NX," in March 2017.
We will take another opportunity prior to the release to discuss the features and price of the NX, as well as the software lineup for launch."

2. The Legend of Zelda for Wii U will also release on NX, will launch simultaneously with the Wii U version in 2017. Will also be the focus at E3 2016. (Source)

Nintendo on April 27th said:

"The new Legend of #Zelda will be the focus of #E3 2016. It will launch simultaneously on both Wii U and NX in 2017"

3. NX will not be shown at E3 2016. Will be shown later this year. (Source)

Nintendo on April 27th said:
NX will not make an appearance at the upcoming E3 video game trade show in Los Angeles in June and will be unveiled later this year.

4. The Wii U version of the new The Legend of Zelda will also be the ONLY playable game from Nintendo at E3 to allow "complete immersion". (Source)

Nintendo on April 27th said:
E3: Nintendo changes its approach to the show every year. This June, Nintendo will focus its attentions on the upcoming game in The Legend of Zelda series. The Wii U version of the game will be playable for the first time on the E3 show floor, and it will be the only playable game Nintendo presents at the show, in order to provide attendees a complete immersion. Additional information about Nintendo’s E3 plans will be announced in the future.

5. Koei Tecmo has added NX to their list of supported platforms. (Source)

Koei Tecmo on April 28th said:

6. Nintendo confirms that NX at least for now is still only a codename. (Source, via Kotaku)

Kotaku on April 27th said:
In a tweet, the company pointed out that “NX” is still only the console’s codename.

7. Kimishima tells Nikkei that NX is not merely the successor to the "handheld 3DS or stationary console Wii U" and that it's "been made with a new way of thinking". (Source, via Kotaku)

Nikkei via Kotaku on April 27th said:
Respected Japanese paper Nikkei asked Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima what kind of game machine the NX was. “At this current stage, I’m not able to say,” Kimishima replied. “However, it’s not merely the successor to the handheld 3DS or stationary console Wii U. This will be hardware that’s been made with a new way of thinking. I’d like to announce more particulars regarding its specs and how it works another time this year.”

8. Kimishima clarifies that the reason NX is releasing after the holiday season is because they want software to be ready for launch, and also to continuously release titles after launch. (Source (Q&A 5))

Tatsumi Kimishima on April 28th said:
"We will introduce NX concepts and details at another time, so I will restrict my answer to the question asked. You are correct about needing a solid lineup of software. One of the reasons for choosing the launch timing that we did is so that the software lineup will be ready in time for the hardware launch. Not only at launch, but we also need to be able to continuously release titles after launch. We are planning for this to be a platform that consumers can enjoy for a long time."

9. Kimishima also confirms that they do not intend to sell the NX at a loss like they did with Wii U initially. (Source (Q&A 5))

Tatsumi Kimishima on April 28th said:
"Next, about how we are looking at cost, we are not thinking of launching the hardware at a loss. When Wii U was launched, the yen was very strong. I am assuming that situation will not repeat itself. Selling at a loss at launch would not support the business, so we are keeping that mind in developing NX."

10. Kimishima emphasizes the desire to have a fully realized experience at launch, rather than rush it for the holiday season. (Source (Q&A 8))

Tatsumi Kimishima on April 28th said:
"There has been no change in our way of thinking about launch times. We believe that when launching hardware, the amount of quality software for consumers to play that is available at launch is important, and that we ought to determine our launch dates based on this. The fact that consumers spend more money in the holiday season may be a big factor in why launching then is a good way to start. However, our hardware and software business structure does not end in that year. We want consumers to continue to play this game system for many years, so we believe that in the beginning it is most important to make sure that everything is in order at launch. In that sense, our approach is that we should wait until we can provide a fully realized experience rather than rushing to launch in the holiday season, and this approach has not changed."

11. You can use Miitomo as the same user across multiple mobile devices if Miitomo is linked to your Nintendo Account. (Source (under System Options))

Miitomo's FAQ said:
Q: Can I use Miitomo as the same user on another device?

A: If you link the application to a Nintendo Account, it's possible to use Miitomo as the same user across multiple devices.

After linking your device to your Nintendo Account, simply select Create/Link a Nintendo Account when you first start Miitomo on any other device to link that device as well.

However, you cannot use the application on multiple devices at the same time.

12. Kimishima says the for dedicated game systems, amount of hardware sold is the most important, and also how a game is played after it is bought is the other most important thing. (Source (Q&A 7-2))

Tatsumi Kimishima on April 28th said:
"I think that for dedicated video game systems, the number of units purchased is definitely the most important. Other than the number purchased, the other important thing is how the game is being played after it has been purchased. I do not mean this in the sense of how the game is rated, but rather that how the game is played connects to the future of the IP. Therefore, we believe that in addition to the number of units purchased, the activity numbers including hardware activity, and how much the game continues to be played are both important factors as well. I think that this is the same for both dedicated video game systems and smart devices."

I think this is good enough to start things off. This makes 36 facts to date if we're keeping count. :p Obviously more will be added as they come. Help is highly encouraged and VERY much appreciated, just like in the first thread! :)

I hope this thread will be helpful in keeping all the info in one place and will provide a good resource for folks.

So guys, who do we all want in Smash NX????????

Naah, I'm joking. Good on you for making this thread. I'm glad we at least have SOMETHING concrete on NX to go off, even if it's not a lot, so hopefully we can keep things pretty sane this time around. .

....right...?

It's possible that its games will use cartridges instead of optical discs.
There was an article about an Asian chip producer (Macronix) a few months ago that seemed to hint at that.
Found it: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1176644

"Even though CY Lu declined to comment whether the supplied products are ROM, he said he expects ROM sales this year will be exceptional."

I was really hoping we'd get info soon enough that another one of these threads wouldn't be necessary. Well, let's see how long this one can last.

Good job, HoL. At least I have a thread to refresh daily during the agonizing wait for the official reveal :p
Hope it's not too long, analyzing what we do have has been pretty entertaining and it sounds fairly good so far as long as they get the shared library/unified architecture right.

All the cut fighters like Pichu, Ice Climbers, Ivysaur and Squirtle
Keep the new ones for the native smash

I'm calling September honestly, since Nintendo had Fall Conferences when net-gen hardware was coming out. They did it for Wii, 3DS, and Wii U to a smaller extent.

It's good to have a thread with concrete information instead of the wild speculation thrown about lately.

Subbing to this and will continually check back on updates.

If we delay the announcement by 4 months it should be by August/September if we base it off the Sony/MS showings though I'm not sure yet. Waiting 4 months would be pretty brutal and they'll definitely leak ahead of time

Small typo, but probably worth correcting considering it's an informative thread. Either way, thanks for the round-up, Hero of Legend.

Thanks OP. I somehow missed the bit about the simultaneous Zelda release.

So not selling it at a loss...

I take that to mean either:

The hardware is cheap and/or underpowered and they want to profit from selling it, or

It will be powerful and/or expensive and sold at a high price.

And he talks about games being played long after the purchase. I take that to mean multiplayer, games as a service, or some kind of iterative model (dlc)

Or am I way off base?

I'm still of the belief in either shared architecture of two form factors or the "console dock" design. Perhaps it's a handheld that can be used as a controller and a screen? Someone on gaf had an interesting interpretation that it was a streaming service.

Idk whatever it is I hope it's still a bastion of local multiplayer

Sorry, I don't understand how this is an NX fact or how is Miitomo related to NX.

I think the implication is that your Nintendo ID will be used for NX as an online account, and will link to multiple Mobile Apps, but the wording is horrendous if that's the case.

Seriously. At this point im just burnt out.

No one has anything interesting to say at this point. It's either retreading old stuff, or adamantly misreading what Kimishima has said because... reasons?
The rumors and leaks have little to no substance, and the rumor mongers keep losing credibility (I'm still not sure why the bulk of our rumors could only come from sources from within Nintendo, since that would be the least likely place to leak.).
People are using concept art to try and confirm console features.
Nintendo themselves have thrown a wet blanket on things.
And "wait for E3" has been taken off the table, so we don't know exactly when this ride ends anymore.

I feel like there's no point in paying attention to this stuff until the console is actually revealed, and then we can spend the months between then and launch speculating and getting hyped or something.

Another 10 months of speculation and conjecture. I don't know if I can do it.

I wouldn't say 10 more months of speculation, since they'll be releasing info on NX at a later time this year. I'd say 5 more months, tops. Anyway, it's better to wait for official new info rather than continue to speculate.

Yeah I'd say by the end of October we should know about NX. I'm hoping by September so that 3rd parties can at least show off NX games at TGS.

So it's a hybrid?

Edit: I think this is worth sticking in the OP, too.
No, it's been stated numerous times by Iwata that it's not a hybrid. Iwata said they were trying to go for a development scene similar to iOS/Android. Which would mean the ability to easily develop for multiple different systems that all possess a similar OS, similar hardware and control parity.

This is all true.

Its just that its kind of impossible to only be thinking about tokyo mirage sessions, color splash and mighty no 9. Everyday.

I've been waiting for this topic. I hope this one doesn't get closed. We have a lot to talk about when it comes to the NX.

From Kimishimas latest statements I feel confident in saying the NX console controller will not have a screen in it.

Still sounds a lot like a hybrid to me. Just imagine it, all the disadvantages of a handheld combined with all the disadvantages of a home console, all in one expensive, underpowered and unwieldy package.

Perfection.

This may just be because I'm really tired right now, but I have to say I agree with this. There's barely been anything new for us to sink out teeth into for some time now, and the delay announcement has certainly put a damper on things. If there's some actually half-decent rumors that pop up, that'd be interesting, but until then, there's not really much to add.

I suppose the nice thing about this general disinterest is that this thread is a bit less likely to get locked than the last one.

The quote by Iwata

What we mean by integrating platforms is not integrating handhelds devices and home consoles to make only one machine.

What we are aiming at is to integrate the architecture to form a common basis for software development so that we can make software assets more transferrable, and operating systems and their build-in applications more portable, regardless of form factor or performance of each platform. They will also work to avoid software lineup shortages or software development delays which tend to happen just after the launch of new hardware.

But many only managed to read "shared architecture? Hybrid!" The dedication to that delusion is admirable.

About skipping holiday season, I still remember almost no games were released for WiiU six months after launch. Iwata said "please understand" in the January megaton direct because of this.

Honestly I dont want this to happen again.

And it wont sell at loss. That means they can drop the price soon if they dont sell well.

And only Zelda in E3... I wonder why there will be no other games there. Why are they not considering to show games like SMTxFE, Paper Mario, Metroid Federation Shit, and so on? Don't they even trust their quality? Not surprised of not being confident with that fake Metroid, but what about the others?

Not sure why you want to talk about non-NX games in a NX thread.

It is not only Zelda in E3. It is only Zelda being playable at the showfloor.

9. Kimishima also confirms that they do not intend to sell the NX at a loss like they did with Wii U initially.

Everyone should read this full quote in context. From the other thread, it seems like very few did.

He's not saying that they plan to fundamentally change their pricing strategy. Rather, the Japanese yen was particularly strong in 2012 and 2013, and that strength caused Nintendo to take a loss on Wii U sales (because when it sold Wii Us to Americans, it received fewer yen when it converted the US dollars it received). Since then, it has weakened considerably. Assuming the yen/dollar exchange rate remains around current levels, the NX shouldn't sell at a loss, but if the yen strengthens again, it may.

Mario NX will allow you to choose Mario's gender.

Mario or Marion, you decide. And this gender decision can follow you through all of NX's games, Link or Linkle, Samus or Sam, Fox or Foxy and whatever the fifth and final game they release is.
