Uncharted 4 spoiler free early copy impressions

Is anybody really going to this game expecting tone like TLOU? I expect some storytelling methods to carry over naturally, but I'm not making any illusions about this being anything other than an improved Uncharted story through and through.

Agreed, but the animation is what really makes it different from ANY other game out there.

The attention to detail in animation is just something most other games don't even bother with, regardless of aliasing or texture quality.

Agreed, the animation is the best I've ever seen.

Of course there is going to be people dissapointed with this game but don't let that worry you all folks. I just spent a huge ammount of time playing Uncharted 2 again tonight and it feels tame and dated in comparison to UC4.

how come, I've never experienced a mandatory patch.

I don't know but the last Deadstar update was mandatory and I couldn't launch the game until it was finished. Anyway, it seems the patch fixes many things and enables multiplayer to be playbale from what I read. Why would you skip that? Imagine that you bought the game digitally. You are forced to wait until it finishes the whole package. All this impatience for the game? I can understand that. :D

To be honest, there seems to be a bit of confirmation bias in his opinion going by his previous posts.

Yesterday people convinced me Hard is the way to go. Now people have convinced me Normal is.

I'm in a nice rhythm after U3, U1, U2 on Hard. Normal in U2, for example, feels way too easy right now to me. Then again, I know the levels inside out, so it's probably not the same as if it were a new game.

So I'm leaning to Normal for U4 first play. Ugh, it's killing me, this decision. I just want it to be intense still and not a cakewalk BUT also don't want to miss cool rope shit and what not, which supposedly Hard will make it difficult to enjoy on a first play.

HALP

For the sake of details and pleasure, opt for Normal first. Plus the game now has more emphasis on stealth, so normal would be fine.

Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.

I have played all the Uncharted games on Hard, not going to stop now.

I'm not sure why anyone would expect TLOU in this game. When I see this game, I see some trace elements of TLOU in it but it's still largely UC to me.

I think I'm close to the half-way point. I just started chapter 10. Man this game is long.

Hoping to beat it within the next couple of days. Budgeting about 4 hours per day, unless more is needed.

Is that fair?

If you want to play it at some point, why watch a playthrough? Just weird to me.

Because I'll get spoiled at some point before I can actually play it anyway. I've done the same thing several times for generally short, linear/cinematic games like this in the past. The Order, for example.

This is not a short game... Guess you'll be watching 16 hours worth of the game lolol, have fun!

You are a crazy person. Just don't read threads about it and avoid media about it if possible. Then play it when you can.

You might get something spoiled still, but at at least you'll get the thrill of surprise in the action and various individual moments.

To each his own....

Nah, just wait a few mins for some of the game to download and you are good to go.

Oh I forgot about this feature but to play online it needs to fully download the game. I hope PS4 Neo is at least 2 TB in order to keep all the masterpieces that are patched up for it.

Glad to hear retries and cutscenes count with the game timer. 15 hours with several deaths sounds better, should take me 12-ish hours on a lower difficulty.

Cerny was right about Ps4, this Console Is a beast! Just watch some footage and no other game comes close anywhere.

Makes you think what else can they achieve on their next game and how will it look on PS4K =)

Edit: The texture work is incredible Jesus, the 5 year dev cycle was worth it.

Hoped they'd kill it, and it sounds as though they have. Can't wait to see what they'll do next (as long as it isn't Last of Us 2).

This ain't short and you'll be averaging around ~14 hours. Just sayin'.

If anything, I'm scared the game might be too long and not conducive to replays. The Speedrunning trophy doesn't look nice at all.

I can't recall but in previous Uncharteds could you replay specific chapters yes? If not, then can you do that for this one?

Non spoiler very lossy comparison pics between E3 2015 market and the final game but wow at the improvements:

what the hell. incredible. looking at the shadows on drakes model it reminds me of the jump from U1 to U2

Played about the first five hours tonight. The gunfights in this game are really intense and fun. Facial animation is absurdly good. No complaints so far, although it does take a little while to get going.

More stealth sections and a story by the last of us guys. This is looking more and more like a bargain bin purchase for me.
At least Amy's Star Wars project is due soon, and RotTR hits PS4 at Christmas so there will be lots of uncharted like games to fill in the gaps

I guarantee Uncharted 4 will be more "Uncharted like" than RottR. Ehh your choice though. :p

I've only seen game-play where stealth is optional not mandatory.

The game basically gives your more options during combat, how is that a bad thing?

The idea of Rise if the Tomb Raider being an adequate replacement for anything is ridiculous. That game is awful and the development going from UC3 to 4 is so much greater than going from TR1 to 2. I remember when people thought Rise would be better than UC4...

Uncharted 3 soured quite a few people on the franchise. If it wasn't for TLOU, I doubt this game would be as anticipated as it currently is.

You're in for a surprise if you plan on playing RotTR and don't like a more serious story and stealth sections, or more accurately stealth as a combat option. RotTR is also way different from Uncharted, as I'm guessing the Star Wars project will be as well.

Wait, does it still have "corridor" shooting like previous uncharted, or is it really open where you can plan every attack, like.. say.. MGS5 ?

The "last of us" guys also directed Uncharted 2, so need to worry
