Super Mario Maker over Splatoon!? Must be the Wii U bundle.

And Kirby off to a great start.

And Konami with a bang lol.

I predicted Star Ocean would sell 150k in April and this puts it up to 147k roughly (including PS4 and PS3), though sadly my prediction was only for the PS4 sku IIRC...

Star Ocean 5 must be very close to 200K with digital now. I know some bigger recent JRPG that can't claim the same.

And Konami making bank with that baseball game, while no new home console title has been announced from them I think.

What "bigger" JRPGs?

Nice opening for Kirby, even if it is a fair bit lower than Triple Deluxe. Hopefully legs push it even farther.

I suppose from now on shipments are the Wii U's biggest system sellers.

WoM on Kirby is impeccable. Expect a very, very good second week.

Kirby is bringing the bomb here.^~^ in the good way of course.

And Konami of course doing absolutely great even when they give middle finger to traditional gaming market lol.

Xenoblade X

But we are comparing a game on two platforms to a game on one dead hardware.

Heh? This is the first time i ever heard Xenoblade series is bigger vs Star Ocean lol.

How is Xenoblade a bigger JRPG than Star Ocean? SO4 pushed over 200k on the Xbox360...

So? He said that SO5 sold close to 200K with digital which ToZ easily smashed in a week. I doubt it was Zestiria unless I misinterpreted the comment?

Unless he is claiming that ToB won't be able to reach 200k, which I do agree that it can happen.

Can anyone say Star Bomb? Those numbers are atrocious compared to the shipment, it must have like half of its shipment still in stores

You said you don't remember any big JRPG so I just reminded you

MC numbers in the morning!!! :D famitsu will release them tomorrow I suppose? It seems that this week Wii U could reach double digits as the leak implied. We'll see if it was only an special supply for golden week or Nintendo solved at least the supply problems in Japan (I doubt it).

And my god the damage control for star ocean and mentioning xenoblade... Some people will never change :p (besides I doubt Star Ocean V will sell more than Xenoblade X WW).

You said you don't remember any big JRPG so I just reminded you
FWIW, Tales of Berseria looks good and even if I don't expect much from it, there is always the off chance that it has good WOM and manages to hold steady compared to ToZ or SO5, both of whom received terrible WOM.

I have lost all faith in the Tales series.

SE really hit themselves in the foot by not releasing SO5 on PS3 & PS4 simultaneously.

I'm sure they wanted the PS4 version to destroy the PS3 version. If anything I think they probably should've built the game exclusively for PS4.

Huh? Tales of Zestiria did more than 300k?

TOX2 being a pretty good game contributes to ToZ's sale I think. I doubt ToB will sell that much though, at least in the first week. Japanese fans experienced that whole fake female protagonist shitstorm, and the most diehard fans were hurt the most (since they had probably been following that game more closely than anyone else).

I don't remember any recent big JRPG other than the remaster of Type-0 HD.
Dragon Quest Builders. Well received and passed 500k across three platforms in Japan.
Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3. Apparently they made some stupid tweak to the mechanics and the whole system is broken AF. Still managed to sell over 400k in debut week.

Dragon Quest Heroes II is also around the corner.

And there it is, the result of word of mouth. I know there are those who liked SO5 on GAF, but honestly, it's sort of mind boggling that the game was allowed to be released as it was. They had to know they were sealing the fate of the series when they released it.

Although maybe there were contractual obligations involved ...

From my understanding Tales of Xillia 2 failed to meet sales expectations in Japan. This series has just been showing us signs of issues ever since the time of Graces and Xillia.

Well, considering they delayed the PS3 version because it couldn't even get finished, I wonder if S-E just ran out of patience. tri-Ace isn't even working on the new mobile Valkyrie Profile game.

I think it would be prudent to wait and see how the game performs throughout the RoTW first before questioning its existence :p

I remember Xillia sold pretty well in Japan, even beyond Bamco's expectation, and that's why they stopped making Tales for Wii and X360 and focused on PS3. It outsold FFXIII-2 in the first year (actually the first year for FFXIII-2 was just 2 days but still....). Bamco probably had stupid expectation for Xillia 2.

From my understanding, there is a pretty stable audience for Tales in Japan so the sales won't decline drastically. But if Bamco fucked up their relationship with these diehard fans (as ToZ did), they are in big trouble. ToB well be a tough battle for Bamco in Japan.
