The case for the return of Crash Bandicoot

Yup.

Currently playing through DKC Tropical Freeze and it's like a love letter to the original DKC games. I'd want something similar done to Crash. Retain the style of gameplay it's had in the OT with enhancements here and there taking advantage of the extra power/features of the console.

Doing it in that style will also mean that the game wouldn't require a huge budget, which means less risk, and less requirements for it to be a success.

I would rather it not be a remake, and do something different altogether. Its 20 years later. Make it new. Blow minds.

Remember, it's the Bandicoots 20th Anniversary this year also, so I think it would be a mistake to leave any announcement towards the end of the year.. So I'd hope for sooner rather than later...

Announce at e3, the original trilogy and/or some PS2 games being up ported with trophies to the PS4, some of them available now... Then announce new game due in April 2017, around the same time that Ratchet released this year

That would be amazing. The original trilogy and CTR (with online multiplayer) on PS4 would be so good.

Cortex voice actor thing ended up being bunk.

"We're pleased to announced....Crash Bandicoot...is coming to Playstation 4............. as a new series of PSX classics! Please be excied for the Playstation Experience."

Just like Final Fantasy VII on PS4. That was a beautiful moment.

I don't buy it either. If there isn't another Doctor character he had played from "times gone by" then his original post doesn't make any sense.

If Crash does come back it's probably going to be a digital re-release of the first game with the possibility of a new game. Activision still owns the rights and they're not going to give it up just so someone else can make a bunch of money on the IP.

Remember when Naughty Dog had that Last of Us Easter Egg in Uncharted 3 and Last of Us was announced a month later?

Uncharted 4 with Crash Bandicoot easter eggs?

E3 in one month?

It's happening.

Activision's name and ownership copyrights didn't appear in the credits of Uncharted 4 which featured TWO PLAYABLE LEVELS of the original Crash Bandicoot game remade from the ground up.

If Activision still owns the IP, Sony/ND would ABSOLUTELY need permission and ownership to do this sort of thing.

if they bring back the games they need to bring back the original font. Hated how they got rid of it and went with generic fonts.

Eurocom and High impact games are gone

Travler's tale are busy making lego games

Doubt Activision will resort to BRB

Sanzaru, you are our only hope.

There is nothing outdated about 3d platforming.

I wanted to wait for a price drop, but I guess im gonna play it day 1 now.

Another even more mindblowing megaton fact about this spoiler.

PSA: Spoilerphobes, do not click this. Only warning.

It seems that Naughty Dog went above and beyond it on these levels as they're basically recreated from the ground up, while still retaining the retro style graphics and game play. But animations, jumps etc are slightly changed. Still, it really doesn't appear if it's just an emulated game, which leads even more credence to ITS HAPPENING, as they actually had to spend time developing this nice treat

It's a lot more complicated to put an emulated game into another game than to remake some stuff, especially when you don't need to spend a lot of time on it.

I'm kind of curious as to what a current gen Crash would even look like. But then again I only played the first one, so I don't know how the series has evolved. Would people be satisfied with just the same thing again, only with crazy graphics?

I think it's kind of strange that of the major PS2-era platformers, this one was probably the least discussed until the Rachet & Clank remake came out.

I totally had a lot of fun with this game, but I don't see how a new game in the series would grab my attention. R&C is perfect for this gen because it has great characters and setting for a modern video game. I prefer a Sly or Jak remake to this, but to each their own.

A PS4 Crash Bandicoot game has been discussed WAY BEFORE the new Ratchet game. As far back as November 2013 when word broke out of the street sign in the PS4 trailer.

BTW, Crash was PS1 era.

Yes, sounds silly, but that font is so freaking nostalgic for me :D

The r and c/Crash comparisons baffle me.

They are nothing alike and R&Cs creation was due to wanting to move away from games like Spyro and Crash.

Also the remakes success is exaggerated here a bit

I think it can work. Ratchet and clank sold very well and was a great game.

The thing is it can't be half assed. It needs a good team of talented designers with passion for the game and good unique ideas. It should look great and be attention grabbing. And given time to be done well.

If it's half assed like the Vivendi games and sold on the character might as well not do it.

Yea but these playable levels may potentially be in the same engine as the original crash games, which making work on todays hardware would be much more difficult than just using an emulator to play the old game, especially considering that Sony already have a just about perfect emulator for the PS1 that they use on PSP,Ps2,and, PSVita that is built into the OS. Relearning how to code for the original crash engine and even finding the documentation for it would be a lot harder than emulating it, which it appears they did not do (emulate), which means if they really did built it again from the ground up, it would be extremely curious as to why theyd spend the time and money to do so if they dont now own the IP, or at the very least oneof their studio's are actively developing a Crash game for Activision, when they could use their ps1 emulator.(Yes,Im aware this would be difficult, especially getting Drake and co to react to whats being emulated) But there is the fact that Activision is still not credited anywhere in the game whatsoever. All this leads credence to ITS Happening.

Adam Boyes, VP of Publisher & Developer Relations at PlayStation tweeted this. Is he trying to fool us, or should we be concerned ? Everytime we get a little closer, it gets out of our grasp. Taken away :(

Activision holding the rights can still mean some sort of deal with the IP. AFAIK extremely rarely do companies just sell their IP.

This is the true account of Adam Boyes, and I don't see why he would lie.
If you want to be delusional, you can say "ahah, but the rights are right now at activision because they're signing the papers!". Again, if there's a new crash, it'll likely be a deal with activision (like ninty with bayo 2 for example). No need to buy an IP when you can pay for something nobody else wants.

So how did they use crash bandicoot with out any references to activation in the credits. It doesnt make sense they couldn't do that if they didn't own him.
