Pokémon Sun and Moon Starters Revealed. Releases November 18th 2016.

Man this game is looking great so far, loving the bigger city feeling returning from Unova. It looks bigger too and the separated island chunks allow them to keep us from knowing everything. Better proportions too. Though I really wish Gamefreak would use some texture filtering, it would go from good looking to great looking.

Starter design is pretty alright but based owl.

Also the Japanese trailer basically captures what Gamefreak aim for in terms of Pokemon, a fun social experience that connects people regardless of language.

Actually, it's based on the noble sea lion. Notice the ear flaps and the fact that everyone hates it.

Mistaking an Eseal for a sea lion -- Jacques Costeau is rolling over in his grave.

And sea lions maligned by your calumny are all:

Yeah, I over reacted... I don't like her final form, but still think this one is way worse:

And it's a fighting type, one more reason I don't want Litten to become one. I don't like Emboar and Blaziken too much either tbh.

Grass fighting is a really unique type, though. I know we got a lot of fire/fighting starters but I don't think that means we have ban the type. Plus it complete the Dark/Psychic/Fighting triangle.

I love these starters. They have so much personality. The clown seal looks like a Rareware character, and the owl's head revolves and turns in impossible ways. I love black cats too, and I like the red and black color scheme on it.

The Sun Lion legendary looks so cool. I think that's the version for me.

Not sure what's going on with the Moon Bat design though.

It's called the "Sea Lion" Pokemon. Don't be preposterous. Sea lions also don't know I'm saying anything bad about them. They're not smart enough.

Anyway, I think I'm gonna try to go on blackout since it's only 6 months. New world design and Rowlet is enough to sell me. Joe, I'm gonna unfollow you on Twitter but I promise ill refollow soon.

With the starters, remember that GF have said they want to surprise players with the final evolutions so that they're not immediately predictable from the base forms. As seen here;

I don't imagine that that will have changed for this gen, either. Compare some of the early predictions for their evolutions, where fan artists tend to follow the original design, compared to the actual final forms

Are there any items you can have a Pokemon hold that negate Ice damage? I need to start planning my Rowlet tactics early.

The Yache Berry will lessen the damage taken from a super-effective ice attack. (One-time use.)

The Snowball item will boost Attack if hit by an ice type attack. (One-time use, does not affect damage.)

No items that would completely negate ice damage, though.

Post E4
They heard people complaining about light post-game and included northern and southern Kalos after Elite 4.

If Zygarde's involved they might not show it before launch as it'll most likely be a post-game deal. Or not, just my guess.

Zywho now? Forever a cliffhanger until a proper sequel/remake.

Episode Zeta. Believe.
I don't think they will ever do a third version again, but Zygarde has to serve some relevance.

I'm just saying don't be surprised if you wake up with a herring head in your bed, that's all.

Snivy still looks similar to serperior...which is why it's the best gen 5 starter. /opinion

Oshawott -> Samurott is the biggest change from those. Could be two different Pokemon lines if I didn't know any better.

Herrings are fish, not pinnepeds. They're not even closely related to sea lions, despite having comparable intelligence.

Yes obviously -- that's why a sea lion will put the head of one in your bed, godfather style, after you mistakenly likened them to the photoshopped face of an elephant seal placed on a foppish sea lion Pokemon.

Note, my interest here is entirely zoological, as I don't play, nor have I ever played, Pokemon.

Zygarde's relevance is to be a red herring and fool players into thinking that he will be on the cover of "Pokémon Z" as Game Freak knew that we would expect that.

Zygarde will be forgotten and rightly so.

#ZygardefailedKalos

It's on the 3DS, what do you expect?

Also, I've re-hosted the gif.

I am loving that the trainer is in the battle field. I am so gonna enjoy battling together with Charmander.

Ib4... I'm impressed that no one on the Internet for now has updated the o rly? owl meme with Rowlet... XD...

I think for Gen VII will start again with a grass starter (last time was Sceptile, surprisingly, in another island Pokémon area)... XD

Last... The final forms will have the reverse triangle (in this case, Ice, Flying and Fighting, is the only real option, Psychic doesn't work)

I need to see their evolutions, or at least their stats later on.

I chose Snivy back in Pokemon White and he ended up being one of the first Starter Pokemon that I ever removed from my party before I beat the game.

I hated how his final evolution removed his arms and just made him a snake, and I wasn't a fan of him being purely grass either. Overall he was fine, but I just replaced him eventually with something better.

I'm a big fan of this new Owl starter, but if it's evolutions look like shit or he ends up not being super useful I'll probably go with one of the others.

Yeah, I think the third version's gone the way of the dinosaur, too. The whole Zygarde storyline has been suspiciously ignored, though. I do expect it to make an appearance in this in some form. It'd be too strange to just have the anime cover that.

Oh, I thought you were saying that a sea lion would kill itself after realizing what a bad animal it was, but you accidentally wrote herring because they're both equally uninteresting.

Also, a zoologist who never plays Pokemon is no true zoologist.

There are berries which will cut the damage of super effective moves of a certain type, just get the ice one. Though finding them in the main game is very uncommon.

I believe this might be what they end up as:

Grass/Flying
Fire/Ground
Water/Rock

It all comes to design in the end. It just happens that, usually, the fighting types are my least favorite designs. I'd love to see Litten looking more savage I think... still quadruped, maybe more in line with Evee evolutions or Ninetales and stuff like that.

I usually like the water and grass starter designs but these are boring. I guess I'm choosing fire for the first time since gen 3.

Everything look so good....

Just give me a raw ass post game GF, don't fuck this up.

X/Y was soooo dry. ORAS too

Having a Frontierless Hoenn, the home of the Frontier, still makes me sad =(

I really want a Battle Frontier again x.x I love the spin on things the facilities provide.
