Mass Effect: Andromeda will ship early 2017 (late Q1), will be at EA Play (E3)

Yeah I figured from the beginning this was going to be 2017 without a doubt based on the amount that has been shown thus far. Can't wait to see what they show after all these years considering they are far along at this point. Once things get rolling I'm sure information will come out in a blitz.

They've done a weird job hyping this game, it's kinda been at two E3's now and we don't know anything substantial about it. I hope it's great.

I can't wait. I'm playing the trilogy again just because this game is so far away and I need Mass Effect in my life.

I love this franchise so much.

I'm burning to know all about this game, but I'm also glad they're doing the reveal this way. I'm confident that what's shown in June will be what we can expect from the game. Rather than a Dragon Age Inquisition situation where they had a big gameplay reveal way early, and then the finished game wasn't really the same thing at all.

Hyping and showing off a game that's very far from completion rarely ends well. I like that they're unveiling and showing it off when things are more stable and they're getting closer and closer to the final product.

I'm sure they'll be very comparable.

What?

Star Trek is Vulcans, Klingons, Romulans, Ferengi, Cardassians, etc., and the interrelationship of these species and their cultures.

Mass Effect is Krogan, Quarians, Asari, Salarians, Turians, etc., and the interrelationship of these species and their cultures.

Star Trek: Voyager took all that and ignored it, moving to a different galaxy where everything was new (and rather unimpressive).

Mass Effect will probably be able to make this move much more ably, but it still kind of worries me that the richness of the world they created will be largely put on the back burner to focus on a new area with new species and such.

Stupid excited for this and EA's conference in general. Sounds like they'll release around the same time Mass Effect 2 did.

Personally I don't think they will make the mistake of not including Asari, Krogan, etc. (alongside plenty of new stuff too). They know that fans want something that is recognizably Mass Effect, and that means the established species.

I can't believe we're actually going to see the game for the first time(early alpha leak aside) in a month. 4 years after ME3 release.

Can't wait to finally see how (good) it looks.

To be fair, for a video game Andromeda has the powerful tool of interactions to flesh out the new species, characters and relations in depth, which is something a TV series can't afford, at least not in its format where one plot is confined to one episode and sometimes several tops.

I suspect that, instead of a mighty and ancient race, it'll be you and your team the ones who want to kill everyone and everything. You know. Survival.

If I'm correct, the paragon and the renegade choices will be...interesting.

Going to be a marvelous Birthday. LOVE ME SOME MASS EFFECT - HAVE TO CAP LOCKS IT JUST TO SHOW YOU THAT IM YELLING THIS WITH LOVE!

:)

wonder how the paragon/evil system will work. Frostbite engine going to loooove lovely!

I believe that the game will take a lot of influence from the colonization of Africa. Considering that we will need to create a new base of operations for the races coming over to the new galaxy. Paragon/Renegade will be based on how you choose for your team to treat the initial civilizations that lived in these "uncharted" new lands.

I want the villains to just be a group of aliens who hates us, a bit like the Batarians vs Humans in the original trilogy. Don't make it all about extinction or "you're all dooooomed" again.

Just make it Milky Way refugees vs Andromeda races scared/feeling threatened of the "invaders" and you've got an interesting story going on.

Can't wait, glad the Mako is back.

Hope we get to see gameplay demo where you go through some mission this E3, complete with dialogue choices and new Mako exploration.

But EA being EA, I doubt that will happen. At best we'll just get Hollywood style trailer with lots of explosions and licensed music.
Then they move on to EA Sports presentation for 30 minutes with Sports stars.

I don't say this to be a contrarian, but let me know when the folks at Bioware decide again to give players LESS freedom, as in the games of theirs I enjoyed most.

That is, I like for choices to matter and have consequences, but I also like the narrative and world to have some kind of shape and structure that feels meaningful outside of my choices.

Let's see...

New Species: Remnants, an ancient race who've left ruins and technology throughout the galaxy. And Khet, seemingly antagonistic.

MISSIONS TYPES AND MULTIPLAYER:

Remnant Vault Raids: Ancient ruins in two variants. Standard: Accessed by finding and activating Remnant Monoliths, explored to find a "powerful artefact". Acquiring artefact triggers defence systems: robots, traps, and restructured layout. Rewards with valuable loot, crafting resources, and Star Keys. Orbital Facilities: Unlocked with Star Keys, provide permanent stat bonuses, and optional higher difficulty vault raids that add Khet patrols and outlaws. Rewards with rare loot and narrative acclaim.

...I guess the Remnants might not murder everyone?

This is what I'm most excited for at E3 (ish) now that we know NX won't be there. I'm replaying ME3 right now so I'm in a Mass Effect mood.

Cannot wait.

The thing I'm most looking forward to is biotics in the frostbite engine. Let me detonate some crates on people's heads or something.

Yeah, we're already getting a sense of this through the mention of destructible cover. ME3 (especially the MP) was already starting to move away from being cover-centric, and I'm hoping Andromeda continues that. Have cover, but it's only one tool of many.
