Someone on reddit who publishes games on Steam completely ignored Valve's pleas for confidentiality and posted a screencap of the Steam Summer Sale start and end date:

No word yet on if there will be anything like daily deals yet but with the refund system in place now I think it's unlikely we'll see those return.

And that is when I'll hit level 100 from 86 on steam crafting all these badges(help) and then buy more games (help)

Just when I'm relocating to another part of the country and strapped for cash. Looks like I'll be missing out on this one... :(

That is a touch later than last year's sale (if true); It felt too early last year. I wish it started in July for selfish reasons.

Steam sales are over. The crazyness is gone. Discounts are mediocre. GOG is the new king of daily/hourly sales.

So there's the two weeks when Steam is not overpriced in Europe, wow. Or for some newer games it'll be overpriced even then. Someone needs to tell publishers to not charge such insane amounts in Euros.

Can't really get excited for Steam sales because only old games get good sales now and I already have all I'm interested in. A Steam sale on a game less than two years old is just going to match the price it is on retail.

I'm hoping for 2 things this summer sale.
1) a nice event that is fun and entertaining
2) aggressive sales on the newest games

I hope they have more and better visibility mechanics to promote the lesser-known titles and independent games. And something to incentivize people to re-check every day and browse discovery queues.

Why would refunds affect daily deals?
They stopped doing daily/flash deals after they started the refund system. I assume it's because if a game someone bought at the normal sale price went on daily/flash sale most people would refund it and buy it again at the lower price.
Of course Valve has never said why they stopped but I can't think of any other reason for them to stop.

I also think it has to do with the general state of the sales. Most people here at least ignored the majority of the titles on sale and only gave the Dailies a serious look. They also "stablized" the price cuts so that sales outside of the major Steam sales would also be taken more seriously. Shame though, as nothing nowadays spurs the impulse purchases like the old sales used to do.

No one here can help you. Get a therapist.

There's a guy out there with a 900 level Steam account.

Yeah that is possible as well. Unless Valve says something we'll never know for sure.

I'm hoping for a couple this year....

GTAV
Stardew Valley
The Witness
MGSV

I have to think those could reasonably be on sale that week

I don't remember whether it was Valve directly or (fairly accurate) approximations made via SteamSpy, but it was reported that the new type of sale (i.e, No Dailies) made more money than the old type, so I doubt we will ever see it return.

Trades: starting March 9th, item delivery from completed trades will be delayed by Steam for up to 15 days
Sale lasts 14 days.
Don't cards expire on the last day of the sale?

How convenient Valve.

Do we have any metrics on how steam sales of late have been compared to a few years ago? It feels like the discounts aren't as deep, but I have nothing really to back that up with other than gut feeling and more money in my wallet following the last major sales.
