Uncharted 4 by far the most successful launch in the series in the UK

Generally have ignored any sales threads due to the xbox and playstation fannys but digital sales are actually accounting for a lot of the sales now? Lots of people were getting shut down a few months ago that they were adding quite a bit?

Also, even when accounting digital, unless there's a proven data to suggest one game's digital ratio is WAY higher than other products in the same-space, you treat both of them with relative evenness.

Eg. Let's assume ROTR has a digital ratio of 30%. Assumptions of the digital marketplace would also put Uncharted 4's digital ratio "assumption" in the same ballpark, because industry-wide, every major publisher are doing at least 15% on their AAA games and everyone is growing fast.

I havnt bought it yet either. With my massive social media following that should add an extra couple million.

You're welcome Naughty Dog.

Did he really call himself the most compelling gaming channel on YouTube? Did he really say "Xbox is the best box?" Who says that?!?

Those who fish for clicks.

No doubt I prefer it too. But Sony has games that could have been used for new gameplay idea like Mario or Zelda. I mean, Crash Bandicoot is a "bandicoot" it makes no sense lol. He could've been used much the same as Mario.

Sony has IP like that.

Medieval
Twisted Metal
Formerly Crash
Wipeout
Warhawk
Little Big Planet

Etc...these are heavily gameplay focused titles, no one is going to be up in arms about them being milked because hey will always feel fresh with the new gameplay ideas from each iteration. This is one thing Nintendo does right, and I think Sony could use a few more ever green titles as well. There's just no reason not to use popular IP if it's in your best interest to do so.

Good point but they did try something like that with LBP and that cart game, didn't seem to work out too well.

Welp Uncharted 4 bombed guys. Crapgamer said so: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sd5eNmItGHI&feature=youtu.be&a

It's going to be glorious when he turns on Rise of the Tomb Raider this fall.

Because that game was garbage and flet like a worse MNR clone. All they had to do was copy CTR with LBP characters but nope they had to go with the system they chose.

You should make one. It seems you have all the data you need for it lol

And this is why I hate the internet. This same thing happens on every forum. In this case someone argues something with completely false info, makes grand statements about a product bombing, and when they are proven wrong... they disappear like magic. Yeah I'm sure that will never happen again.

Congrats to ND, well done.

I am not surprised, I saw it everywhere on bus and they showed advert on TV. Plus it's a big IP being promoted as the "last" Uncharted game.

Personally I will be picking it up after a price drop but from what I have watched so far it looks pretty good.

Ha ha, that gif is new.

Sorry for being off topic, but I keep seeing this gif and I don't know where it's from and why it's funny. Please someone, enlighten me.

The original gif is from Man of Steel where Pa Kent says no to Clark saving him because...reason.

The Chris Evan head was from an interview where he was laughing.

Dunno what has been going on with LBP since part 2 honestly but besides a great Vita game, they haven't been done my the main team at Media Molecule and hasn't had nearly the same quality. They need to be all in to do what Nintendo does, not giving your IP to other developers for the sequels

So what I got from this thread: Uncharted 4 bombed, with just double the sales of ROTR (+ a measly 10% digital), despite a massive 200$ million budget and the PS4 having double the install base of the XB1 in the UK.

That's informative!

No people were saying digital makes up a ton of sales when it hasn't been over 30% for some of the biggest digital attach rates in the industry.

It's significant, it's just not 90% lol

30% is a hell of a lot more than what people were suggesting, a very significant amount.

Also, even when accounting digital, unless there's a proven data to suggest one game's digital ratio is WAY higher than other products in the same-space, you treat both of them with relative evenness.

I wasn't referring to comparing one games sales to another and using digital to make one look better but yeah I get your point and wouldn't have thought differently.

Yeah, PS4 is outselling it by a bit but definitely not doubling it up in sales in the UK. The UK (along with the USA) isn't like the rest of the world. XOne still is doing decent in sales in these regions.

http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/game-ps4-and-xbox-one-install-bases-surpasses-5-1m-in-the-uk/0164453
According to the above, it was 3 million PS4 to 2.4 million XOnes as recently as March this year.

Sales gap are much bigger now. 500k-600k difference was when Sony announced 2 mil. milestone in UK. PS4 outsold Xbone throughout entire 2015 too.. Gap is now near million.

I wonder if this will end up being Sony's biggest game launch. It certainly has the marketing and pedigree for it.

The E.T comparison 😂. I see he straightened everything out with Xbox, bet Phil's glad to have him back representing the Xbox name

No doubt. Unless of course there's a TLOU2. GoW isn't as strong worldwide. GT is a slow burner. Maybe Horizon, after a couple well received sequels. The western made, open world genre is booming.

I think ND explicitly stated that this would be the last Uncharted with Nathan Drake as the main character.

They said it'd be the end of HIS story, then
built in a 15 (or so, depending on how old his daughter is) year gap filled with unseen adventures directly into their ending.

Then you're crazy, Nathan Drake is the closest thing Sony have to a mascot (maybe Kratos too) he isn't going anywhere.

Destiny number was apparently planned budget across number of years so yes not really applicable.

As for 200 for U4 that seems ridiculous. Each uncharted game cost around 20 million (maybe 30) IIRC with ND citing an initial high cost to build new engine for PS3

This gen pretty sure they said they just built on existing engine cutting cost of transitioning to PS4 vs going from PS2 to PS3.

U4 surely cost more for higher res assets etc but that much more? That's GTA level costs and seems highly unlikely. I doubt U4 cost anything close to 200 million to develop there's just no evidence to even really suggest it.

Seems like a true case of unfounded concern for reasons as opaque as where he even got that number from.

They did can 8 months (?) of work when Amy Hennig was removed. Don't suppose that was cheap.
