E3 2016 Predictions & Discussion thread

My expectations are low this year with no Assassin's Creed and no Mass Effect this year.

The only thing that will make up for it would be a Capcom/Sony/Platinum games on Okami 2

Hopefully this thread and E3 are as memorable as last years. Here's my updated E3 2016 Predictions:

Sony:
-We'll see more of what was shown at E3 2015: TLG, FFVIIR, Shenmue. Only TLG is given a release date (Fall 2016 or Spring 2017).
-New God of War. Not numbered, new protagonist. 2017
-Hellblade is given a release date, fall/winter 2016
-Kojima on stage. Talks partnership and shows concept art/footage, "working" title. Dates not given
-Thatgamecompany's game revealed. Multiplatform. "First" on PS4
-Bend's game. 2017
-Horizon is Sony's big game this fall. Lots shown and date announced. (Also, this has been said by others before, but I'll bet this game turns out to be in the same universe as Killzone)
-Sony has marketing rights for all future EA Star Wars games
-No more than 20 minutes spent on PSVR games

Microsoft:
-The next Forza game is a full Forza Horizon / Fast and Furious 9 Tie in
-Xbox Slim announcement, $299.
-Ninja Theory is working on another game alongside Hellblade, announced as AAA XB1/Win10 exclusive (my bold, shot in the dark prediction)
-Original Xbox BC on Xbox One. In preview "today." Digital game store for OG Xbox, all games ~$5-10
-Mouse and Keyboard support on Xbox One in preview "today"
-New game from Undead Labs
-Recore: gameplay, releasing August 2016
-Scalebound Release date and more gameplay
-Crackdown Beta info and date
-Sea of Thieves gameplay and date
-Gears campaign footage
-Halo Wars 2 dated November 2016
-Tacoma release trailer and date, XB1/Win10, 2017
-Big (AAA) fall 2017 exclusive teased. Not Halo or Gears

Nintendo:
-Not much to say, Zelda is there and impresses

EA:
-Amy Hennig's Star Wars Revealed, releases 2017
-Full gameplay blowout on Mass Effect Andromeda. While the game will let players choose gender of the main character, the female version will be featured in marketing materials (trailer /box art).
-Need for Speed Podracer
-More info on the Hazelight studios game

Ubisoft:
-In keeping with their trend of closing out the show with a big new game, a new Splinter Cell is shown.

Bethesda:
-Dishonored 2 is their big game of the show
-Final piece of Fallout 4 DLC revealed
-Doom stand alone expansion announced (like Old Blood)
-Prey 2 re-revealed
-New Quake game

Great thread! That table was super helpful for me last year.

I predict Sony will announce their conference soon. Seriously? What's the hold up? I really hope its still late in the evening so I don't miss it due to work.

Buying out those theatres worldwide for E3 Experience takes time.

Anyways. My wish list.

--------------
Sony
--------------
God of War - Kratos in new mythos. We all know it's Spring 2017
Gran Turismo - Demo available now, launching December 2016. DriveClub-sequel business model
Horizon - New gameplay showing off new mechanics.
The Last Guardian - New story trailer. October 2016
Dreams - Story Mode trailer. Yes it's not us doing all the work. Media Molecule has made a story mode
Crash Banicoot - Aquired by Sony and made by Naughty Dog's newly created 3rd team that specializes in platformers
Sony Bend/Sucker Punch - New ip

-------------
Square
-------------
FFXV - Something. Who cares it's a couple months away
FFVIIR - Gameplay showcase. 2017
Kingdom Hearts 2.8 + 3 - Trailer + release date for 2.8. 3 gets a trailer showing new worlds and Sora's mobility
DQXI - It's coming to the West. 2017
Nier - Delayed. 2017
World of Final Fantasy - Coming to PS4 in the west

-----------
MS
-----------
Xbox Slim - 50% smaller. 299$. Comes with a game.
Scalebound - Polished gameplay. Spring 2016
Sea of Thieves - Finally know what we do in the game.
Gears - Singleplayer
ReCore - Trailer
Forza Horizon - Yup
Halo - 2017's Halo title

-----------
Atlus
-----------
Persona 5 - NA gets it in 2016. Probably December

I do think this will be a very meaty E3 though. I think we'll be getting some good info on a lot of good games. ME:A, Dishonored 2, Titanfall2, BF1, COD:IW, Whatever MS shows, Whatever Sony shows, and even Zelda. It should be good.

I honestly don't even need surprises to be excited, but I don't mind them lol.

I have low expectations for this E3 as well. Not because I think it will be bad but rather I am content with everything that has been announced and released from last E3 to now. So, as long as there are more interesting new games to pile on top, I will be more than satiated with E3 this year.

Sony
Horizon: Zero Dawn 2016 release date (I believe!)
Persona 5 NA December 2016 release date (I believe!)
The Last Guardian October 2016 release date (without a doubt)
Gravity Rush 2 2016 release date (please!)
Sony Bend announces Dead Don't Ride for 2017 (it will surprise)
Sony Santa Monica announces God of War 4 for 2017 (looks fantastic and the gameplay is fresh and entertaining)
Crash Bandicoot reboot for 2017 (ALL MY DREAMS!!!)
Sucker Punch announces a Spiderman game for 2017 (Sucker Punch gets put on the map with this one)
Sony Japan announces a big JRPG for 2017 (something unorthodox and imaginative)
Third party stuff (people will whine and complain as usual)
PS4 Neo announced (the chosen one will show us all the light)
PSVR mingled throughout the conference with compatibility announcements and what not (whatevs)

yoRP0zy.png

I already have 2 of those down

I predict PS+ changes from the survey they had a while back. I predict they will remove PS3 and PSV games and replace them with movies (as the survey option suggested). Maybe free up more cash to get better PS4 games for the line up. They are already no longer advertising the PS3 and PSV games in the blog post or PS+ line up announcement videos.

I don't expect any major surprises when it comes to games. Sure, one or the other new IP, and yes, one or the other revived old IP, but nothing which makes me flabbergasted, like last years trifecta.

What I expect is new hardware from Sony (PS4 Neo and PSVR), and a new XBOX SKU from MS.

Nintendo will show Zelda, but only the WiiU edition, which by default will be underwhelming visually. People will ask why they even bothered to show up in the first place.

Sony:

-I'm hoping for more concrete release dates on upcoming software.
-Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay footage!
-More information on Ni No Kuni 2.
-Complete reveal of the PS4 Neo, or whatever that rumoured upgraded console is going to be called.

Microsoft:

-CUPHEAD! The game continues to look awesome, so here's hoping we can get to see some more footage of the game in June.
-Section outlining of the upcoming Backwards Compatability games for the Xbox One
-Crimson Skies. There aren't many aerial combat games on the market, and I think it's time for this franchise to take to the skies once more.
-Alongside showing footage of Halo Wars 2, I hope to see an announcement for a new Age of Empires for the PC & Xbox One.
-More info on Redstone and possibly footage of Sea of Thieves/new announcement for Rare's next project.

Nintendo:

-Yeah, I got nothing on this one, so here's a gif image of a humanized female Koopa Troopa shakin' what she's got!

Koopa-Troopa-Girl-Dances-Based-On-The-Super-Mario-Character-In-The-Mushroom-Kingdom.gif

Soothsayer
Bethesda:
- Skyrim HD Megamix
- Fallout 3 Turbo Edition
- Fallout 4 DLC all over the place
- Fallout 4 to receive VR support in the near future
- Prey 2, but not "Prey 2" Prey 2
- Wolfenstein sequel

EA:
- Second coming of Hoop Gawd

Squeenix:
- Kingdom Hearts 3 has Frozen in it, to the surprise of no-one
- Final Fantasy XV partnering with Fat Burger

Nintendo:
- Zelda underwhelms
- Announcement of NX announcement teased by Reggie

Sony:
- UnKarted as a downloadable title for PS4
- Crash Bandicoot closes out the show
- Cowadoody
- Ape Escape 4
- Tokyo Jungle sequel: Kyoto Jungle
- PS4K
- Dualshock 4K

Microsoft:
- Clippy coming to Killer Instinct
- Sea of Thieves galore
- Banjo-Threeie
- Fusion Frenzy cinematic trailer, cancelled soon after
- Xbox 1.5
- Re:Core anime Kickstarter announcement
- PC to Xbone streaming, M+KB support "coming soon"
- Yooka Laylee headlines the ID@Xbox segment
- Battlefield 1
- Halo Wars 2

Ubisoft:
- Aisha Tyler
- Watch_Dogs 2 protagonist dual-wields smartphones
- Beyond Good & Evil 2 is nowhere to be seen due to NX nudge-back, so there will be some BS segment near the end where a game announcement should have been.

Kingdom Hearts II.8 is shown with fall 2016 release date. This is immediately followed with Kingdom Hearts III trailer. Gameplay is shown but you are not playing Sora. Ventus and Terra can be heard in the background. Summer 2017 release.

I didn't even notice this thread until now so I guess this thread is what I'm going to post the countdown now and ahead.

Right now here are my gut feelings.

Microsoft.

Xb1 slim. $250.
Spenser gives a speech dissing incremental console upgrades and how Microsoft doesnt do half steps.
Watch Dogs 2 was Xbox exclusive iconic hats.
Red Dead Redemption 2. RDR now on Xb1.
A lot of the classic 360 JRPG's are now on BC.
Xbox has FFXV co marketing.
Persona 5 on Xbox in the west. Also Persona 5 is now 2017 in the US as a result.
Insomniac shows a new game.

Sony.
No PS4K. All hardware talk is about PS VR.
IF PS4K is there its a footnote. It wont be treated as a huge deal. It basically gets a slightly bigger reveal then say.. a slim model.
Crash Bandicoot reboot. Made by Activsion and someone who makes Skylanders.
FROM Software has a thing.
Some VR stuff but nothing crazy.
TLG is October.
Shenmue 1-2 Remastered.

Nintendo.
Zelda doesnt seem that hot.

I'm gonna predict that -MS has a BC blowout for the anniversary of the announcement with, RDR, Black ops, Bioshock &Infinite, Skate 3, marvel vs capcom 2, and Skyrim

It's now or never with these BC games that everybody wants

Considering Square essentially has dropped Xbox One after around Type-0 HD's launch, with KH2.8 and others as examples, the chance of Atlus supporting Xbox is even less.

Sorry

Sorry

It would have to be something MS themselves would basically need to bankroll but I see them doing it because P5 seems like its going to be pretty big and not having it just looks bad.

hmm, in that case I could see that. It is one of Sony's bigger exclusives coming soon currently

Can't wait until we see the first LA Convention Center pics, that's when the E3 hype truly starts for me.

I really hope that the new IPs outnumber old/existing washed up IPs this year.

I can't do another Sony 2015 conference where old IPs and long in development games are dangled in front of us and then we're told to go to a kickstarter page.

Also, if you're going to announce a remastered game, just show us a logo and tell us it's available in stores and online NOW. Don't reveal a remaster that's coming out in 5 months.

And please, for the love, do not mention Crash Bandicoot, Battletoads, Shenmue, or Conker, ever. Not ever in this conference.

Sony:
GOD OF WAR 4 reveal
Crash reveal or bust (as in it's either now or never)
The Last Guardian demo with release date announcement
Gran Turismo Sport demo
Horizon demo(?)
Dreams demo
maybe Sucker Punch's new game???
CoD gameplay (meh)
some other 3rd party exclusive marketing gameplay reveal/demo. maybe Watch_Dogs 2 or new Ubi IP? Or Visceral's Star Wars game?
some Destiny shit
some VR stuff
no PS4K at all, not even a mention
a Square JRPG demo (either NnK2, Nier 2, KH3, FFXV, or FFVII:R).

MS:

Forza Horizon 3, also coming to PC with cross-platform play
Another Gears demo, hopefully better than the last. (give me cross-platform play damn it!)
Halo Wars 2 gameplay/demo (cross-platform play... do it)
ReCore gameplay/demo
Scalebound demo
Sea of Thieves demo (once again, better have cross-platform play)
Crackdown 3 demo (is this coming to PC? it should. with cross-platform play)
Battlefield 1 demo
some other 3rd party exclusive marketing gameplay reveal. Maybe Mass Effect? Red Dead R.....?
some non-gaming thing that's way too early to be shown that I don't care about until the technology is more mature

EA:
MASS EFFECT 4, hopefully with demo
Battlefield 1, more gameplay
Star Wars Visceral game, hopefully with gameplay
Star Wars Battlefront DLC
and that's all I care for from them. I'm sure they'll have sports or something

Nintendo:
*sigh*
hopefully Zelda will at least look good.

Ubisoft:
Watch_Dogs 2 reveal
New IP reveal
Ghost Recon gameplay
For Honor gameplay
Division DLC
UbiArt game (like Rayman/Valiant Hearts/Child of Light)
No Assassin's Creed this year

Halo 6 teaser?

MS shouldn't be showing Halo 6 anything. They should focus on Halo Wars 2 (you know, the game that we've seen absolutely nothing about since announcement) and Halo 5 DLC.

The NX... it is here. But there is only one, there can only be one." He levels his head again to look upon the crowd, faces gazing back at him in awe. He begins to smile. "So I ask you this: how far are you willing to go? Who will you kill, what will you sacrifice... all in the name of the NX?" He pushes the model into the still silent crowd, the NX now in her hands. He turns to return backstage, but before he does he looks over his shoulder and utters a single word: "Fight."

Ubisoft:
-Ghost Recon Wildlands gameplay
-Splinter Cell
-Watch_Dogs 2
-South Park
-Assassin's Creed 2017 teased

Gonna be my first E3 on Neogaf. Feels good to be a part of the hype

I just hope we'll see some great RPGs, mainly Mass Effect Andromeda.

Prediction: Bethesda will tease the next Elder Scrolls. Release: 2018/19

I can't believe E3 is almost here!

Mass Effect: Andromeda - I'm ready to be blown away with gameplay videos. I hope there are planets you can fly to seamlessly like a mini No Man's Sky.

Horizon Zero Dawn - the reveal trailer was beyond stunning. I have to admit that I expected to see more gameplay over the last year but they kept us in the dark. I'd love to see what is looks like when roaming the old cities they showed from a distance in the trailer.

ReCore - I hope to see gameplay and that the game is a 3d adventure with open environments to explore.

New IP from Bethesda - I hope Bethesda shows off a new IP that will be added to the rotation between FO and TES games to make the wait between titles shorter.

Cyberpunk 2077 - I have no expectations for this game to make an appearance but it would be a great surprise. A cyberpunk game from CD Projekt RED is a dream game. The Witcher 3 was amazing, I trust them to deliver again.

There was a good balance of new and old last year.

This might be the least excited I've been for E3 in awhile. Though that might change as things get closer. The possibility of Take Two having a conference is what will get me hyped again. Anyway, my predictions:

EA
  • Titanfall 2 Campaign Premiere, Release Date=November 15th
  • Battlefield 1 Multiplayer Gameplay
  • Mass Effect Andromeda Gameplay Trailer
  • Premiere of the new IP from the Brothers devs to balance out everything
  • Trailers for every EA Sports game. Some athlete will be brought out on stage
  • The words "Feel" and "Emotion" will be said at least 50-70 times each
  • No sign of Amy's Star Wars

Bethesda
  • Dishonored 2 Gameplay Blowout
  • Prey Teaser with a 2017 Release Window
  • Fallout 4 DLC
  • New Wolfenstein Announcement
  • No Elder Scrolls VI

Ubisoft
  • For Honor gameplay, October release date
  • South Park TFBW Trailer, February 2017 Release
  • Ghost Recon Gameplay, March 2017 Release Date
  • Watch Dogs 2 Gameplay and November 15th Release Date, I assume this will be officially announced before the show
  • Maybe we'll finally get the inevitable open world Splinter Cell?

Microsoft
  • Gears 4 Campaign Gameplay Demo opens the show
  • Scalebound Gamplay with a February 2017 Release Date
  • Halo Wars 2 Trailer with a November 15 2016 Release Date
  • Forza Horizon 3 Trailer, September Release, Car on stage, etc
  • Sea of Theives live gameplay demo with Spring 2017 Release Window
  • A gameplay trailer of ReCore will be shown. I'm not sure what to think of this. If it's a big production then I can't see it releasing this year at all.
  • Crackdown gameplay demo. Multiplayer Beta will arrive in September. Release will be some time in 2017
  • Battlefield 1 campaign gameplay
  • More Hololens stuff
  • New Xbox One is an Xbox One S Model and the higher power will be hinted at

Sony
  • Open the show with Crash Bandicoot. Activision has licensed the series to Sony and it won't be developed by ND but a team led by Mark Cerny.
  • Horizon Gameplay. February 2017 Release Date. Will get bumped to at least March.
  • Dead Don't Ride announcement Trailer. 2017 Release
  • The Last Guardian Trailer, October Release
  • Call of Duty Infinite Warfare Campaign and Multiplayer Footage
  • Destiny Expansion with September Release
  • Titanfall 2 Multiplayer Premiere and announcement of partnership
  • More Watch Dogs 2 Footage
  • PSVR Talk
  • Yet another No Man's Sky Trailer because the game won't be out that soon
  • Neo Announcement, will release in February with Horizon
  • God of War IV announcement trailer. 2017 Release. Will inevitably get pushed to March 2018

So yeah, pretty standard affairs here. Would love to see the new Red Dead which would be most likely to show with a Take Two conference.
