perhaps fixing origins was too big a job?

If not fixing, then remastering certainly. Outside of the story and the crime scenes, Origins just doesn't hold up anywhere near as well as the other titles do despite being the most recent. They probably considered it, then looked at the game again and thought that it's probably not worth it. And they'd have been right.

I would buy it if Origins was included. I still don't understand how I completed the final boss encounter because the framerate was beyond terrible on PS3 -- I'm talking like 10fps. It sorta just ended and left me with the feeling "Well, that was dumb."

The Xbox One store page is live, but preorders are not. Preorders will get two codes for avatar items. store.xbox.com/Xbox-One/Bundle/Batman-Return-to-Arkham/a0c94597-d03e-40d1-af8f-5caf37a1c029

Why isn't 'Origins' included...

I wonder...
I didn't get that bug...I actually got one that caused me to restart an entire section due to an enemy being glitched into the wall so I couldn't kill him, lol.

It's a bit steep for just 2 Arkham games, however it's great it's been officially confirmed. I'll hang on a bit for a price drop/sale.

There's a lot of "no origins, no buy" in here, when we have known about this remaster for eons and exactly what was in the box.

I'm buying it just for Asylum, I didn't enjoy city are all, life is really too short to deny yourselves stuff over petty bollocks.

Shame it's not coming out on PC and shame for PS4/X1 (re)players that it's probably going to be 30fps. That and the omission of Origins as well as the price point actually doesn't look really appealing.

How about ludicrous model scaling!

I appreciate I'm being a little facetious, they all had their fair share of jank. But perhaps fixing origins was too big a job? With a bit of luck we'll get it on 360BC around the time of release, now that double disc games are coming.

lol

"Hey, you're on the asset team, right? I need an obstacle for the Firefly boss battle that the player can fully take cover behind"
"i got u fam, say no more"

This thread is just following the pattern from the previous topics about this remaster....30 pages of "No Origins, No buy"

At least that bug doesn't seem to have ruined your game.

I was 10 hours into Origins before I fell through the floor into a void and the game autosaved, forcing me to restart the entire fucking thing because it doesn't have multiple saves.

Even if the game wasn't buggy, it's still my least favorite because of how they slowed down Batman's punches in the combat when the enemies seemed to be the same speed. It just made it feel like he was stuck in molasses when he slowly winds up his punch and a random goon lightly bops you on the back of the head ruining your combo.

It's also almost impossible to unlock everything in the first playthrough because some stuff is gated behind completing Challenges that HAVE to be completed in order. If you solve a later challenge first it doesn't count and you'll need to do it again once you're allowed to. The challenges are also bugged; I spent forever trying to get a Stealth section challenge (one where there are only about 2 spots in the entire game where it's possible to get) and once I did it it didn't trigger.

You must not have realized it but in all actuality you accessed WB Montreal's next Batman game titled:

Batman: Arkham Abyss

What other projects has Virtuos worked on?

Final Fantasy X/X-2 (PS3, Vita, PS4, I assume PC), Xcom Enemy Unknown (PC-to-mobile), Fables Anniversary, and Heavy Rain HD, among other projects.

http://www.virtuosgames.com/

I wonder if Virtuos is placing itself to be a new player in remasterings? There's "7 new-gen console titles which Virtuos is due to complete in 2016" between consultation and porting and original design, including two projects on UE4 and curiously one PhyreEngine SKU for PS4 (what could that be?) As I understand it (admittedly I don't own any of those, but I've not heard too many complaints,) they do good work. Virtuos is not getting credit from most publishers (good for WB btw, they even put the developer on the box!), so GAF, be sure to keep their name up and look for it in the next remastering if you like what's been done by them.

Too bad though that Batman Arkham Origins is not in this box. Virtuos did some assistance on Origins (art and levels) according to the official site, so they're in with the team but I guess it just couldn't happen.

One more collection that isn't a collection. All of these collections / remasters / definitive editions have been nothing more than cash grabs, period.

Seriously, if you're going to do a collection, etc., either do it the right way 100% or don't do it at all.

Definitely a no thanks for me.

Lol up on amazon.ca for the low, low price of $64.99.

No, thanks. I was going to get it if it was reasonably priced. But I'll wait a while longer and hope it comes down eventually.

Disagree...it doesn't include Golden Abyss. Seriously, how can any collection be called a collection if it doesn't include each game in the franchise?

Naturally, the collections ALWAYS include the game I "didn't" play and it's like WTF? Why even bother then?

I love that WB won't respond to anyone on Twitter about a PC release.

They don't want to respond "No PC release because these are ports of the PC version to consoles"

They want the highest amount of gullible people to buy this remaster so they're not gonna say that shit, they'll keep quiet and hope your inner fanboy makes you buy it.

lol Golden Abyss is terrible and not a real Uncharted game. No one wanted to play Drakes Touch Screen Swiping Simulator on a Dualshock 4. Only Vita fans were that desperate. It would been a waste of money to remaster that shit.

That's why Uncharted 1, 2 and 3 were in there... and why the next game was called Uncharted 4 and not Uncharted 5. Golden Abyss is a mediocre spinoff made by mediocre devs.

It actually seems they put decent work in there. Moving to UE4, redone textures and effects. Nah, if it was a straigth port, you can be sure they'd release it on Steam, glitched as fuck, replacing the older games, with a higher price point :")

Maybe a year down the line.

Looks to me a pretty good amount of work porting the games to U4.

And count me on the gullible people. Arkham Asylum is one of my favorite games of all times, I'll gladly by it again to play a remastered version of it on the PS4.

I don't understand why is it a problem if the games are remastered from PC to consoles. What do you expect? A lot of work thrown at making a PS3/360 game less unbearable to run in current gen hardware?

Do not and never will get the outpouring of Origins love on here, to be honest. The storytelling is really good and there are some decent boss encounter ideas but it falls short of the main trilogy in every other regard.

I think that's a bit harsh, it's decent enough. I'd agree there's too much touch nonsense shoe-horned in though.

here's the thing, they only put good games in these collections

suggested retail price of £39.99.

Hahaha no. When a new Ratchet and Clank is £30 at most? I'll get it for a tenner in the Christmas sale. Cheeky bastards are welcome to farm last-gen titles for graphical upgrades, but that price is outrageous.

Bluepoint did a lot of work getting each game up to snuff. While GA looked very nice for a handheld it would need an asset upgrade on the level of what they did for UC1 and I think that's asking too much.

On top of that it would need to be rebalanced. Golden Abyss enemies are significantly dumber and less aggressive than normal series enemies because the control method just isn't as precise (even with gyro aiming). Porting it as is would mean headshots all the time playing it with a DS4.

I'll buy when I get back after the summer, But dang I want origins. Worse combat, but better world, graphics, story, twist, and GOAT multiplayer. Hope it comes to BC. playing it is kinda a Christmas tradition for me!

here's the thing, they only put good games in these collections

God of War III and Gears of War Remastered are NOT the best ones in the respective franchises so I disagree with the " they only put good games" in these collections because that's obviously not true.

As for Golden Abyss, I don't know if it's good or bad because I haven't played it (just like Origins) and that's the thing, the game I haven't played is the one that's not included. That's bullshit. Why release collections that aren't true collections? To me, it's just a waste of money, time and resources.

Because then PC gamers can't say that their version is best.

Seems to be the case.

It's not love. I didn't have a chance to play it back in the day and I'd like to try it. But I don't see myself buying a PS3/360 or a PC for it.

I just played through Asylum and City on PS3 a few years ago so I'll probably pass

Never played Origins for whatever reason, so would consider this if that one was included....

I hate to be this guy but this game doesn't have the word "Collection" anywhere in sight. I'll give you Uncharted, naming it the Nathan Drake Collection was wrong since it didn't include Golden Abyss which also had Nathan Drake.

Just ask yourself, why would Sony waste time AND money remastering this iOS game?

Oh yeah, that boss fight was awful. Remapping stuff like that to buttons wouldn't be massively difficult though. it was the tree rubbing and whatnot that I hated most. And rowing the boat. And the "hold the paper to the light" stuff.

I do think with a traditional control scheme it'd be worth putting into a "collection" though.

Yea after Arkham Knight I don't really feel like playing these even though they were in my top favorite games on Xbox 360.
I'll pick it up when it's cheap in a year, I suppose.

Wow I'm down. Using UE4 is a good move. I wonder if people remember how bad Origins is compared to the rest of the series. It felt like a spinoff from a lesser studio that was filled with bugs, shitty open world design with very few grapple points and some terrible boss fights. It was okay but I get why Rocksteady wouldn't want to remaster a game they didn't make.
