Batman: Return to Arkham announced (AA AC Demaster), UE4, Virtuos (of FFX fame)

Played through the trilogy prior to knight last year and actually felt all three held up well.
City had some quirks with story plotting and went a bit overboard with the collectibles, but it was a good time. I think I preferred asylum and origins more.
Asylum is still just a great package all around, while origins struggled with certain game design changes, but I really bought into its story.
All three still look astounding even on PS3.

Origins only has the best story if you think that a story is defined by the production values of its set pieces.

More screenies courtesy of gearnuke..the rest of these dont appear to be such of an outright downgrade as the Hugo Strange screenie, but the Joker pic looks kinda off in the remaster too, less detail in the hair.

The lighting on the "remaster" looks way toned down compared to the original, and also the blacks are being crushed. It almost looks like they are trying to hide the downgraded textures.
Does the remaster at least support the mode to switch to the original graphics?
LOL. This is really funny. This is the same team that did the FFX remaster? I'm not even surprised.

Not that I think that Arkham Origins is this really high bar to pass, but Batman at least has an actual character arc there.

Botching characters' faces in HD remasters is way too common at this point. FFX/X-2, the Uncharted collection, and now this. Even Mr Freeze's suit has extra shit all over it for no reason. Surely the job description for remastering a game is to preserve the original game as best you can and simply increase the resolution and framerate. You don't see film restoration studios screwing with someone else's movie.

The PC versions still look very good, especially if you whack all the PhysX effects up. Looking at the new screen grabs they are certainly going to be two distinctive versions! Pick your poison I guess.

Botched is probably too strong a word, but they can look pretty janky. Bluepoint updated them to a fidelity that doesn't really match the rest of the games, and the new models overlaid onto Naughty Dog's original animations sometimes don't line up all that well. Weird stuff with eyelids and shadows:
Uncharted 2 Elena also has a full face of makeup, for some reason.

The worst thing about the Joker remaster is that they actually cleaned up his suit more, taking away the aesthetic of him being roughed up by Batman beforehand.
Cause it was just a gimmick pushed by other companies. SCE even said most of the 3D implementations in their games were just to sell 3D tvs for their other departments
Besides a few models that look polarizing from the original, i still don't see much of the issue people are raising about how much of a problem the port is. Especially comparing it to Silent Hill HD and the like before it ever has come out.
Original assets are being changed, created from scratch and/or omitted. The comparison is apt. Who knows what's going on with the sound at this point.

These screen caps look way better than the other ones, but these are all of the prerendered cutscenes right? So we still don't know what the actual game look like in motion instead of baked in video files.

Cause Knight was a steamer? Who knows... I never played either of them. I didn't even like City, but Asylum was one of my favourite games last gen.

This looks way worse than the original. The hair looks much more artificial and there is no reflection on the glasses....lighting looks worse too. This is making me a bit nervous. I really hope Im wrong but this kinda looks like some quick and dirty job.

Beloved is a bit strong. More like us people that liked it being a bit more vocal. It did feel like it was being judged more harshly as it was perceived as a cash in by WB as we waited for Rocksteady to finish their game, and I guess that's exactly what it was, but I think WB Montreal still did a pretty damn good job.
76 MC isn't so bad.

Yeah I prefer the Joker's face in the last gen grabs too, his eyes look pure evil, I'm hoping they paused it at the wrong place
