So Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan doesn't have offline co-op?

Sort of. There isn't really a D team, but C team is far below A and B teams in terms of quality.

A Team = Kamiya; B Teams = Saito, Hashimoto; C Team = Kurooka

I don't even know what the NieR team would be classified as, since the director is from Square Enix. I guess you could put Takahisa Taura into his own team, despite having worked with Saito on MGR.

Taura also worked on The Wonderful 101 and Anarchy Reigns as game designer, which is also something else to consider. There is no definite set teams aside from Kamiya leading them. Like how Hashimoto worked on Star Fox 0 as co-director.

Pie and Beans

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
But is it worse than korra?

Nah, it at least doesn't look that bad since this one probably got an okayish budget and dev period like Transformers did. Korra was "heres lunch money and 5 weeks" budget.

This seems more inline with Anarchy Reigns quality wise from the looks of things which makes lots of sense.

Ok. I finished the game now.

There is one extremely lazy stage where you go through one corridor, fight a previously beaten boss, one-by-one, rinse and repeat, and that was the whole entire level.

Cons:
- a lot of environments look the same. Various rooms and corridors you enter look identical.

- most of the game takes place in dark areas, except for the one stage that has a daytime outdoor area.

- tasks are very repetitive.

I would not recommend this game at all overall.

How's the soundtrack? I loved Transformers' but it doesn't seem like a metally soundtrack would work as well with TMNT.

I didn't know this game didn't have offline co-op. Guess I just assumed it would be in there because it was a Turtles game. Not being able to play with my brother locally honestly kills my interest, fuck.

Everyone was dreaming for a TMNT by Platinum and this what we got? I doubt we will ever see a decent TMNT in our lifetimes. I fucking hate my life.

I wouldn't split them into teams like that. Looking at the credits for each game (specifically the game designer sections), there's really a lot of overlap between titles; it's not as easy as splitting them up by director.

I was hoping this would at least turn out as good as Transformers which I found to be excellent despite it's low budget-ness. Different teams and priorities though, hopefully it has some fun to be had.

Transformers was amazing. Too bad the wrong IP got the better treatment. Since the first gameplay, this didn't even seem to aim for a decent singleplayer experience.

I'm not so sure to be honest (well on impressions and vids so far anyway), I loved Anarchy Reigns and thought it was a fucking awesome game, this......I'm not so sure about. Hope I'm wrong though.

The Transformers game dropped like a rock in price both digitally and at retail. Once the new movie's out of theatres and they've milked those customers, so will this.
It's (TF) still $49.99 most everywhere I look.

That said, I got Devastation shortly after release and wish I had waited. I'm definitely waiting until TMNT hits $20 or less, especially since I hate the art style they chose. I wish they had done the Nick TMNT and gave us the first decent game with that look/feel.

I'd love to support Platinum and I'd love a great TMNT game but this game just looks too rushed and low budget. It looks like they made almost no art assets for the levels. Then they took what little they had and kept reusing the same shit over and over. I can't stand that. I hated it in Transformers: Devastation too, even though that game is pretty great. This looks like they do it even more here. I'll pick this up when it drops in price. I wish the game had a larger budget.

This too. I don't care for the IDW art, though it's not the reason I'm waiting.

ouch =/

How long is the game?

Apparently 4-5 hours and that's from people here running it solo. Apparently it doesn't scale with more players so probably even shorter if you have a full team online.

I wanted to pick this up for my son and I to play but not anymore. Not paying full price for a 4-5 hour campaign that can't be played via couch coop which would have been beneficial for a game like this where generations of parents and their kids want to play together.

Fucking awful =../

What difficulty did you play on?

Is there a challenge mode (Transformers Devastation had like 50 extra missions aside from the campaign)?

But Korra gameplay was great. Great and underrated combat system

The Activision label should be been a sign.
Yeah but Transformers was amazing.

It runs at 30fps.
On PS4 and Xbox One?

Edit: Some follow up questions
Does it have lock-on?
Does it have the more indepth mechanics just as cancels, jump cancels, dodge offset etc?
Does it have challenge missions like Transformers: Devasation for replay value?
Does it have any item/weapon grinding/collecting like in Transformers: Devastation?

Most everywhere you look? A 2 second amazon search shows its selling ranging from $17.85 for the PS3 version, to $29.31 for the PS4 version. Not to mention multiple retail and PSN sales where it's been sub $30 just a few months after launch.

My playlist of videos:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J55FJ5Du0Lg&index=1&list=PLgRCFpbLAm1Tq3JGycQDR41cZELruDxlF

I played a bit online. It is hard to find players because the game is not officially out but I played in two games. One with a party of 3, and one with just another player.
On Very Hard mode on stage 1, Rocksteady will come and help Bebop fight your team when Bebop gets down to around half health.

If you insist on playing this game, I would do the entire thing online co-op instead of single player.
Overall I would still not recommend the game. If I had to guess, I think it will score in the low to mid 60s on metacritic.
I would give it about a 5.5 out of 10.

Here are the unlockable abilities. You can only assign 4 special skills to each turtle. Each turtle does have one unique special move that other turtles cannot learn. Other than that you can assign any special move to any turtle.
All moves are upgradable but for the most part, it just increases duration or damage output.

I did play on Easy mode to coast through it. I only died once on Easy mode and I did edit about 30 minutes out of all the videos in total because some of it was just me wandering around trying to find the next
objective marker.

It is definitely the weakest Platinum Games title I have played but some people may enjoy it for online co-op.

I have not played Korra, or Transformers Devastation.
I have played MGR Revengeance, Bayonetta 1 and 2, Vanquish and the Wonderful 101. I played a couple of hours of Mad World but I did not like it.

So looking at that playlist, the whole game took you about 3 hours. Yeesh. A bit shorter than I was expecting.

The only modes in the game are Story Mode, Online Multiplayer for Story mode (can select stage and difficulty), and Tutorial.
There are unlockable comic book covers in the gallery, and some unlockable special skills if you buy them with battle points. Some abilities take so many BP to unlock that I would not bother slogging through this game that long.

If you want a good beat 'em up game I would recommend Odin Sphere Leifthrasir which releases next month over this despite Odin Sphere being single player only.

why would you play on easy to coast through the game? is your assessment of the game based only on an easy mode playthrough? because that would be an important distinction for a lot of people here...

Eh it goes both ways. I know there's probably a lot of hardcore actio game players here, but you can have fun playing bayonetta on easy. So I wouldn't assume that a higher difficulty magically makes a game better. It didn't for Korra.

I did play through the first 2 levels on Normal mode.

The experience is not much better on harder settings. I was getting bored so I restarted the game on easy to finish the game as fast as possible.

I think I will end up selling the game soon. I have Bayonetta 1, 2, Metal Gear Rising, and Vanquish in my collection but TMNT is not up to my gameplay expectations to be a keeper.

I have a video uploading for Very Hard mode online co-op. I did find it a bit more enjoyable with co-op but nonetheless, the gameplay variety and tasks are not there.

The first level is actually the best one because it is the most open level. The levels after the first one are more corridor like, or floating between rooftops of buildings to get to targets April wants you to go to.

It did for Korra actually. Transformers too.

I just don't know that this one actually has the systems to back it up. Enemies seem to have audio and visual cues, but there doesn't appear to be much of an incentive to take advantage of them? We'll see... It looks like it could be quite fun when played with three other people who know what they're doing, given the weird MOBA/Crackdown structure, but I doubt many people will even get to play it that way. Pretty dumb of Activision to release it on the same day as Overwatch, too.

So no challenges like in other Platinum games? Eh. At the end of the day I'm really hyped for the learning the combat though. Have you looked into the mechanics of the game?

Much like how Platinum thought it'd be a good idea to release Korra on the same day as Bayonetta 2.

Thanks for posting your views X-Factor......i just really REALLY hope we have different tastes in games as i was stupidly looking forward to this game!

One think i did notice though from your first 2 levels playthrough that each level seems to have a secret boss encounter!?, maybe this game might have some replayability!?

What were your views on the Transformers game and what makes this game different as they seem to follow the same design plan??

Bayonetta is a rare title though where it has the spectacle to back it up if you just mash your way through on easy or something, part of the reason it is their one game that reviews really well. A lot of their other games don't have that spectacle but rely solely on the gameplay part and do improve at higher difficulties making you explore those systems more.

Not saying that is the case here though.

X-Factor + anyone with early copies - is there a challenge mode like TF Devastation had? That's the REAL deal breaker for me - that mode made TFD so amazing!

Excuse the bump but assuming no one has made an OT yet, I plan on making a simple one for the game.
Just need a subtitle.
So far I got |OT| Shells of War

Cuz of Gears of War. You know cuz it has that online multiplayer component.

Still can't believe we've regressed so hard from couch co-op. My brother and I grew up co-oping Ninja Turtles games 25 years ago on the NEs, and we were so sure systems would one day be powerful enough that 4-player couch co-op Turtle games would become the norm.

No challenge mode unlike TF? WTF. Game is fucking trash.
