PS4 version comes in at 1080p/60fps with AA. PS3 version runs at 720p/30fps without AA
PS4 uses higher levels of AF than the PC version.
PS4 has better AA resulting in a slightly sharper image compared to the PC when both are running at 1080p. (The AA can't be disabled on PC, downscaling still improves image quality by a lot.)
PS4 has slightly better LOD than the PC version.

Article is up:
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2016-valkyria-chronicles-face-off article here has screenshots including one that seems to showcase AF, i'm pretty sure they're right

Huh, PC isn't as good as PS4?
Glad to see that they put actual work in on this PS4 version instead of just doing a lazy port from PC.

I find these points funny since you can fix these easily in the driver settings.

Yeah color me surprised too. Not going to double dip, but it's great to see the PS4 version running so well!

Not sure how much effort it is to up the AA/AF/LOD, though. Not sure it's not a lazy port, but really now, it needed very little doing to it anyway - Even on PS3 the game still looks great.

Good to know, I have the steel case, but I'm not going to start this for a looo~ooong time because of my backlog.

But I bought it to support the game! Looking forward to the day when I replay it.

Just going with the base game without relying on external tools, and with what DF said. (Although granted, downsampling would require external tools.)

I'm aware that you can force different AF levels in a game. Can you disable AA on a driver level if it's forced in the game?

And I saw people saying there was little effort on ps4 version.
Well there isn't really much added but it's a competent port with no major issues so nothing to complain about really! (Aside from the pre-rendered cutscene quality but nothing can be done there.) I love the steelbook it comes with.

There is an option in the Nvidia drivers to force AA off but I'm unsure if it works well with the game or not.

I think that stylistic games are often helped long term by not trying to be hyper realistic for the time of release. If the game play isn't outdated, it just needs to be stylish and clean looking. Even JSRF holds up today.

This game is a jaggy mess at 1080p on my PC. But when I see the gameplay from DF, the image is a lot cleaner. I don't know if you're supposed to downsample to get a good image...

Yea it's bad enough I just assumed the 1080p was just stretching the original 720p image.

No you really don't. It was Jaggy for me when I started playing too, but then I edited some AA option in the Nvidia control panel and now everything (sans cutscenes) are basically Jaggy-free

The gameplay is really slow so i don't see the benefits of this remaster, but it's a nice addition for those that didn't play it in the past.

The game is a truly gem and the gameplay is very well thought.

It's a shame that it it's only avalaible in english tho :). It isn't an issue for people like me, but it is for many others.

This game would have benefited a lot from having Spanish, Italian, Portuguese translations.

It's nice when developers do a good job on the PS4 version.

Is this a reference to a different game? Or just a sincere observation?

Its not like its a bad port or anything. Why would he be talking about another game?
Without context, it could be read as someone upset that a different game didn't get a good port like this game did. But that doesn't seem to be the case. I was just curious.

This video shows that PS4 version has no AF at all. It seems there is no filtering but a lot of shimering.

There's also a mod on PC that swaps out the textures for better cutscene ones.

Wouldn't be surprised if the devs for the remaster took the opportunity to use them aswell.

You should contact DF to correct them.

Surely they have better tools than me only viewing a youtube video, but I think is pretty evident

You can play it in Japanese though which was also the case on the PS3 version

Yeah, I'm actually glad this is a good port that feels like it had some effort behind it.

For Batman, i'd say changing the entire engine to the latest and updating all the models, lighting and assets would count as effort.

What people think about the end result will be divisive, but that doesn't mean there wasn't effort with what we've seen of the Batman remasters.

But I thought ps4 couldn't do AF? 😉

I like how they did this detailed analysis on small differences and didn't even see that the PS4 version has no water reflections. I assume that's a bug though.

Oh yeah the cut scenes are particularly bad. But I must be doing something wrong because whenever I watch videos of other people playing it, it never looks anywhere near as bad as mine.

I'm 90% certain you're looking at a dust transparency.

No, because the dark road in the left (first gif) shows the same effect.
The second gif is about the shimmering in the towers.

Maybe is a problem with the dof effect that the game creates reducing the resolution and they then scale with a nearest pixel instead of filtering.
