Nvidia announces Geforce GTX 10 Series - GTX1080 - $599 - May 27th, GTX1070 = $379

Going to try and sell my GTX 970 for $250 CAD and pick this up when it is available. Hoping for a retail price of around $600 CAD at launch. It would be nice if they come in around $450-480 like the GTX 970 is currently selling here in Canada.

I can't decide if I want to get a 2k monitor with 60hz or a 1080p monitor with 144hz G-Sync. Someone tell me what to do. Gsync 144hz right?

Those 1070 results. So glad I was able to return my 970. Hopefully those partner cards have a quick turnaround.

Edit: is it worth supersampling 1440 to 1080p? It seems like the 1070 handles most games 60fps at that res.

You can get IPS 2560x1440 144Hz gsync monitors. They are pricey but that is something that will last you through many upgrade cycles.

It's not that I can't afford it, the price proposition just isn't worth it when I also game on three other consoles as well.

It seems like all of the top 144hz recommended monitors are 1080p though. I really don't want to drop 500 to replace my second monitor.

FPS is king, hard to go back afterwards.

Yeah I think I'm just going to go with a 1080p 144hz + GTX 1070. Especially since I don't want to go bigger than 24 due to how close I am to my monitors and not being able to fit dual 27s on my desk. Making the scale up to 1440p less important.

Thanks bros.

I got the Acer Predator Xb271HU this month and LOVE it. 1440p, 144hz, IPS, gsync. Its over $700, but Im building a new Broadwell E/GTX 1080 build and wanted the monitor to go with it.

1440p is great, but the jump to 144hz and gsync is even greater. My prior monitor was a 1080p 144hz gsync monitor.

Gamestar (german site) has a power consumption of 245 watts under max load for the 1070. That can't be true, right? That's less than my 460 I used to have.

I want one of those partner 1070s.

Whoever's first to put one out and undercuts nvidia gets my money.

The 1080 is going for 800 EUR minimum in Germany at the moment. What the heck? 600 $ in the US, 800 EUR in Europe. Makes sense, right? I can't imagine that the price for the 1070 will be below 600 EUR around here. What a joke.

It's not surprising. I guess it was more in response to the person you were responding to.
Well, yes and no as both 670 and 770 were rated at a higher TDP levels while being based on a small GPU as well. 1070 is a bit of an outlier in power consumption for an x70 card. Not that it matters much as the difference isn't big.

All depends on the process the chips are on and the frequencies, besides leakage.

Again its not that surprising, well within the range.

The 1070 looks outstanding. Might even replace my 970 with one.

Yeah I was gonna get a 1080 but I only play at 1080 on a TV so it seems like it would be overkill. 970 has been good for 1080p but there's some games that really benefit from downsampling, etc. Guessing the 1070 will be really, really supply constrained for a while though.

More and more custom 1070 models are popping up at Computex.

So far we've seen pictures of EVGA, MSI, Inno3D and GALAX 1070s - makes me hopeful that there won't be too long of a gap between the FE on June 10 and their release dates.

Looks great, seems like all custom evga boards are coming with backplates too which is nice. I think you have to get the FTW version of the 970 to get one.

I'm hopeful too the wait won't be so long. I'd imagine they had a little more time with the cards to get them into production vs the turnaround on the 1080.

If anybody is looking for a GTX 1080 Best Buy in Concord Mall, wilmington, Delaware has two of them right now I'm looking right at them.

I kid you not
