The characters were younger than I thought. I always pegged them to be at least 3 years older than the ages listed.

Ignis in particular comes across as someone who's in their late 20's.

I don't think so.

We went from Nomura's" the story is really dark and sad, it might be too sad it will depress people" to Tabata's "we had to change the lore for the T rating. Yeah there will probably be some dramatic moments I guess. Here's some fishing and Cindy".

The story was always like this. A journey of four friends to take back their home, with lighthearted tone and dark moments, but with a feeing of hope. Nomura repeated for ages that the dark tone of the game was just the prologue (that's all he shown) in which the Imsomnia invasion took place. And honestly, the only thing they changed for the ratings is that people no longer worship literal death, as that might get the game in conflict in some countries.

I feel like people wanted this game to be something that even Versus wasn't. The Romeo and Juliet adaptation, the setting always being dark, the story being told in a tragic and depressing way, Stella being the villain, Prompto being a fugitive, the game being linear like Kingdom Hearts... was just fan fiction that some fans chose to believe when nothing was being said about Versus XIII. Those things were never real and they created a misconception about this game that truly has lost its image because of people don't check their sources.

I'm very happy they finally confirmed that the hooded guy (seen in the DSK 2008 Versus trailer & E3 2013 trailer) is still in the game and is an enemy not from Nifelheim!

His character role has always been a more mysterious and unknown side to the plot, so its great to hear about him again following the radio silence.

We know next to nothing about hooded guy(I hope it stays that way) so I've been projecting Kuja vibes on him.

Damn she's basically a grandma.

By jrpg standards, kinda.

Hahaha, that was an April Fool's joke article from finalfantasy-xiii.net back in 2010:
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.184422-Noctis-from-Versus-will-be-homosexual

lol. Man, I miss that forum.

I like em old.

If the games not open world, what's the point of the flying car? My guess is they mean like classic style final fantasy, where you have the world map but it wasn't like you could just go to areas out of order. I don't really need the climbing because the warping kinda fits the bill for set pieces. My biggest worry is "please look forward to e3" for graphics. Does that mean...... *gulp* neo.
I'm pretty sure they just mean it is open world but you don't have access to the whole map right away. You probably can't fly till the end.

Also "look forward to E3" just means we'll see what the polished game looks like.

You definitely can't fly until the end, that much has been confirmed.

More than difficulty option, I think a NG+ would be perfect. To restart the game with your obtained levels, skills and equipment, but against enemies in much higher level then previous playthrough. They also could also add some secrets, like Atlus does with Persona 4.

i can barely get halfway through one rpg. i don't know how you guys can play through the same game more than once.

i love persona 4 but i left off on that strip club dungeon and just never returned lol.

these games are too damn long.

Skipping the E3 trailer spoilers incomingg

Bring em on I say. Let the hype flow like the saltiest of tears.

The best New Game Plus in my opinion has been Chrono Cross, with the inclusion of a fast forward and slow button. On top of that you can hunt for all the different characters and endings. So open ended for a NG+. P3/P4 were alright if you wanted to get all the Social Links without having to grind the different traits again. They didn't really do much for me honestly.

Hell, I would say FFX-2 had a pretty good New Game Plus system considering it had a completion percentage. If FFXV has one I hope it's in line with CC or FFX-2.

Persona games are notoriously long but so good you feel like you're actually living the school semester

I like games with good replayability, and I think NG+, when done right, adds a ton! I think I played through Persona 4 three times in a row! lol

But I usually don't play games for too long, except when they have that good replay value or an awesome post-game, which I consider kind rare. Diablo, Pokemon and Persona are the ones that comes in my mind right now.

Never played Chrono Cross, can you believe it?
FFX-2 I did play till the end, but didn't gave a chance to NG+ back then. I played it only on PS2, maybe I'll get it again for Steam in a near future.

yeah they're great but they're still sooo looong. i think the only rpgs i've actually beaten are the Kingdom Hearts and Pokemons. other than those, the closest i've gotten is halfway through FFX and FFXIII... and maybe 3/4 of the way through Chrono Trigger?

i should just go through every rpg i've started again on easy so i can actually finish the stories.

If this game does some Kingdom Hearts shit where u don't unlock the hardest difficulty till you beat the game on the alreadu hardest difficulty... Well I'll still play it but fuck u Square!

Play persona on easy and that way you won't worry about grinding dungeons and just enjoy the story. If there one RPG I would recommend folks is playing Lunar game is epic.

But Kingdom Hearts has only done that once and even then the locked difficulty was absolute shiet!

You should play Chrono Cross, underrated gem in my opinion. Haters hate it because it isn't Chrono Trigger 2, it's more like Chrono Gaiden, a side story based on an important character in CT.

Also, the Tales of Series has pretty good NG+ options because of the grade shops. I remember beating Symphonia and let my brother play with my complete file, He had 10x Exp and a bunch of other awesome bonuses. Such a cool system.

CC's NG+ is probably the best in an JRPG I have played, but others have really come a long way as well. Hell the Souls Series is all about NG+.

Man I hope FFXV's NG+ manages to innovate, or at least be refined.

People not finishing Chrono Trigger, people not having played Chrono Cross, FFXV not having been released yet... Damn, I must be in the bad timeline.

that's not really a kingdom hearts only thing though these days though? off the top of my head both doom and uncharted 4 do it i think?

I love that Luna is older than the guys! Jeez, 24 is ancient by JRPG leading lady standards. Awesome. I was just age-skimming a few of the other FF games, and never realised Ashe was just 19, and Balthier was only supposed to be 22. The hell.

...I'm still a little concerned about my car-plane landing skills.

Uncharted 1-3 did, but Uncharted 4 did have Crushing unlocked from the beginning. Props to anyone who did Crushing first, it would have driven me crazy.

I'm very very concerned lol

Maybe they made Luna that "old" because they didn't want her to actually look like a kid in Kingsglaive's more realistic art style.

Playing the game on the hardest difficulty available from the get go

Really?

I want to experience the game without too much frustration at first. Get a feel of the combat (which shows tons of promise based on Platinum Demo's Iron Giant fight), take in the story, get to know the characters, and just enjoy myself, after waiting so damn long.

Harder difficulties are for when I want to test my skill.

Im essentially playing this like KH.

I doubt it'll be that hard at all.

My hope is that the controls will require quicker responsiveness.

I loved the platinum demo so I want to see how challenging it can get, besides I want the game to last me awhile before completion XD

Also, part of the satisfaction with my favorites FF's has been feeling some resistance along the epic adventure.

You know what's fucking bizarre? They changed Prompto's look, yet I hardly ever see any complaints specifically directed to Prompto, yet I've seen quite a lot on Cidney and her indecent attire. I don't see you giving her a makeover, huh? Also what about the cast all wearing utterly black, uninteresting outfit design? Why not do something about that? Nobody CARES about Prompto looking slightly different like that if none of them are doing to stand out aesthetically from one another at the end of day.

Seriously, SMH at the "negative feedback on Prompto's appearance so they changed that of all things". And now you can't even put in a basic ledge climbing animation. Fuck off really.
