The news of Rare becoming a new IP factory is absolutely incredible. Good on Microsoft if true.

They can leverage Rare's IPs with other studios, similar to Killer Instinct. That game is a wonderful successor to past KI games. It's made by someone other than Rare, with Rare execs consulting on the game and providing input.

Why not have Rare continue to do that? Provide input to other developers on Perfect Dark, Banjo Kazooie, Battletoads, etc... while they continue to make new IPs? Sea of Thieves looks incredible and this industry can always use new IPs!

eh so I've revised my guess to be

- Dead rising 1 remake with co-op
- left 4 dead remake
- lost planet remake

All associated more with Xbox. I never got into DR or L4D so of its those. Meh

Also a pretty key question

Is it a third party developer doing a first party IP (Like Iron Galaxy w/ Killer instinct)

or a third party IP done by a third party developer (Like Sega and Jet Set Radio)

I really hope Rare go back to being a multigame studio. One of the things I used to like about Rare is that they were always working on different things at the same time. KI has been a great success for MS, loaning IPs to other devs is absolutely the right course of action.

Dead rising 4 isn't a remake though, it would be part 4.

I'm gonna say DR4 is a thing, but not necessarily what Dragon Punch is referring to.

You're being too optimistic. The christmas song from his original tease clearly lines up with the christmas theme of Dead Rising 4/Remake.

If its Dead Rising Remake I hope they do away with the annoying time mechanic.

Don't give me a fun sandbox then force me to run through it.

Other than that, I'm down, it was still a great game in the early 360 days.

im surprised and happy KI transitioned well into the new gen, was some of the original team helping the 3rd party devs?

I can't see Valve playing around with MS console games especially since they are pushing against everything MS is doing with Windows 10/UWP.

Holy shit it's gotta be left for dead, can't believe I didn't think of that.

I've been dying for Left 4 Dead in a winter region - likely Russia. I had drawn up plans years ago - a nuclear reactor map with a Super Tank boss event, a hockey rink with zombies on ice and a psychopathic zombie hockey team, thin ice river crossings, and a lot more. I'll die happy if it's even a fifth of what I came up with.

They could just do what they did with 3 - have both time-restricted and untimed modes.

Like in Majora's Mask, time management added so much to that game. At least for me.
