As much as I desperately want MS to keep going with the Xbox to ensure competition remains, I'm fascinated by the amount of these types of threads we've seen since XB1 launched.
MS are in a completely different position to where Sony were when the PS3 wasn't meeting expectations, and I'm morbidly curious to see exactly where the tipping point is for the shareholders.

So you use an article whose clear intent was to show that ALL of their first party titles sold over 1 million as a citation that Halo 5 did not sell 1 million until January? I assume your grades weren't the best if that's how you read that article. They were clearly using the lowest denominator of 1 million to group all of those games together. That was not a post detailing Halo 5's sales.
Also, as an exclusive Halo 5 was the number 1 best selling game in October, outselling even Assassin's Creed on all platforms combined. It was the only exclusive game to be #1 all year. In an even more competitive November it was still #8 (again as an exclusive). NPD also, does not cover digital sales. So you think Halo 5 didn't pass 1 million until January? pfft. The game probably was over 2 million if not more at that point. Regardless of what you think about those sales vs, previous Halo games it was still crushed any of the other exclusives on other platforms.

I had a PS4 too and frankly wasn't feeling it either.
Okay I'll go through the list of dissappointing things about this gen for you seeing as you have to know.
1: MCC being borked. That hurt me bad.
2: Destiny being... Meh
3. Xbone is just a weird console. 360 was a better experience all the way around. Phil is trying to fix it but something special was lost going from 360 to Xbone.
4. Halo 5 did not meet my expectations (I say this as a huge fan of Halo 1-4). I love the 343 crew but IMO Halo 5 is the weakest Halo.
5. PS4 exclusives have been pretty weak.
6. CONSTANT focus on online multiplayer games and no great single player games.
7. I HATED Fallout 4 (Loved 3&NV)
8. Assassins Creed Unity
9. COD has been mostly bad this gen (AW was okay)
10: Battlefield 4 was borked forever
Edit: 11: most importantly this gen split my friends up. It was like a divorce with one kid going to mom and the other to dad.
I could keep going. I'm just saying that I haven't had the best experience this gen. Maybe Scorpio will turn things around.
Or maybe I'm getting old and jaded and gaming is dead and Halo is dad.

All of those platforms are either dead or a very very tiny part of the market. Most of the profit was already done. And do you have a source for them selling 50 M copies of Minecraft since October 2014?
Total sales on PC (arguably their biggest platform) are 24M. Since May 2009.

All things considered that's great numbers for Halo 5. Congrats to all at 343i it's still the best FPS I've played this gen, sorry Titanfall. I would love to know the kind of revenue REQ packs have generated for them, hope it was enough to sustain the same business model and not have to go back to DLC map packs for future games in the series.
Think I've spent around £12 or so on them but I'd love to know if there are any whales for the game.

You're right compared to Halo 3. Let's just say the momentum and launch for 360 was a bit different than the one. That was also pre COD and Battlefield presence on console. This had been discussed ad naseum in other threads, but let's just say there are other factors besides quality of product.

Damn, that's no Halo 3 levels, but quite awesome considering the much more competitive fps scenario of these days.
Also, there's no way that's underperforming unless Ms had completely insane targets given how well their own box were doing.
That article already sounded totally bollocks, this is another strong evidence of that.
