Breath of the Wild is the official subtitle for Zelda U/NX, first gameplay trailer

one of the things I noticed about the music was how piano-based it is. Think about the trailer theme, the small snippets of music we've heard here and there, the chest-opening jingle, and even in one of the short videos about areas beyond the Plateau that Aonuma showed near the end of Treehouse Live there was a minimal, piano-based, melody playing over one of the areas.

It's quite the contrast from the bombastic sound of previous Zeldas. Of course, that doesn't mean the whole OST will be mostly piano compositions (I'm sure we'll hear more "conventional" Zelda tunes in the future), but I'm curious about the fact that they chose that the first glimpse of BOTW's world was to be accompanied by piano music. It's another stylistic choice that screams "we're breaking up with this series' conventions".
I've never thought of Zelda's music as bombastic. It's always been charming and ecclectic as a whole. Also Skyward Sword focused a lot on piano, and Twilight Princess had Midna's Lament.

I was talking mainly about the overworld themes, but I think the series' music has been bombastic, eclectic and charming. And while previous entries have piano-based themes (like you said, Midna's Lament), nothing has sounded as minimal as the ones in the E3 demo. IMHO, of course.

This footage, sparse and aliased as it is, has me thinking about the NX and the power difference.

Here I was hoping Nintendo would finally be somewhat competitive again by launching something around as powerful as an XBO.

But from (the admittedly little) what I have heard it is supposedly less powerful than an XBO by a significant amount? And with Scorpio and Neo releasing, NX will be leapfrogged again.

I just want to see a technologically competitive Nintendo console again..

I want to see Zelda, Metroid, Mario, Donky Kong, etc at E3 along side Halo 6, The Last of Us 2, etc and be wowed by the fidelity.

I am afraid this will never happen again though. Damn I miss the Gamecube.

First off, all we have are a million conflicting rumors. Secondly, the confusion seems to come down to clock speeds. They hear one number, but that same number on more advanced chips is way more efficient and powerful than it would be compared to a 2013 chips. Numbers on paper, and it's practical real world potential can differ. We have someone reporting one, while others the former. Whatever they do, the last fucking thing they need is to compete head to head directly with 2 competitors who would gladly take profit loss for market share. Nintendo isn't that company.

Cool Facts: Game of War has been a hit since July 2013
Man, has there ever been a game as well recieved as this? It seems that a ton of people all across the internet (including me) think that it could be the greatest game ever. This isn't just normal Zelda hype, this is something else entirely.

Funny how a few months ago people thought Nintendo was crazy for only having Zelda at e3.

The views for the Zelda trailer are insane. Most watched E3 trailer? (God of War???)

It's #3 behind the XBox S trailer and God of War right now (both at ~4 million). Zelda's at 2.65M but it's been up for less time.

It's probably going to be the most viewed game trailer on Nintendo's YT channel by tomorrow. It's already ahead of Super Mario 3D World.

This isn't just your average hype

this is...

...advanced hype.

In all seriousness, Game of the Eternity for me so far. It hits all the right notes, notes I didn't think Ninty would have the balls to hit.

I still think it's crazy to not have the NX here. It would've been great to say, "Here's the NX, and also here's this fuckawesome Zelda game that's going to be on it at launch!"

But I admit, Zelda being their only game has worked out better than I expected it would.

Huh? I mean. This looks okay...

But doesn't seem to me it had the same positive reaction as the TP reveal, or even the Spaceworld demo...?

I dunno. Maybe the NX version will hype me up, but it's hard to get excited about a game in 2017 with the LoD of Oblivion from 2006.

I do like he general art design, but I really feel like it's betrayed by the tech.

What if it's like a broken cycle where a Ganon from a previous game survives and the timeline rips itself apart, creating a Ganon Gas that has no physical form because the old Ganon is still around so the Cycle is stuck on 85% which brings torment to everyone living in the land. So the older Ganon wakes Link up, guides him along only to use him to reach the Gas Ganon so he can consume it and take the form that was meant to happen.

Bam.

Sounds like a story for a new Star Fox game by Rare Ltd.

Do we know why Link has been asleep for 100 years? I haven't really played a Zelda game outside of Majora's Mask but I've always loved the franchise and followed it pretty closely.
Also maining Sheik and Link in Smash

That's apparently one of the mysteries of the story you can choose to find out.

The currently most likely theories:
a) Ganon curses Link, proclaiming that before the sun sets on his sixteenth birthday, he will prick his finger on the spindle of an enchanted spinning wheel and die. After Ganon leaves, Zelda uses her blessing to change the curse so that Link will fall into a deep sleep.
b) In Twilight Princess, Link can turn into a wolf. Perhaps Hyrule was hit by Ice Age and Link started hibernation.
c) Link was very tired after his last adventures and took a good rest.

Wow, looks charming as hell!

So what is the consensus, will this most likely be "best played" on NX or is it said that it will play the same on Wii U?

Are we sure he was asleep for barely a 100 years or is this another moment of 'TWW takes place a 100 years after OoT' where only later people realized it meant hundreds of years later and it was a mistranslation?
