Because the quote is taken out of context. And what Fabian said was not meant as a joke. As far as he knows devs are excited for NX. He just jokingly made it seem like he knew more about it than he actually does. He also jokingly claimed that the NX was on the show floor at E3 just to mess with the other guy. Again: this was not a serious interview, more of a conversation between old friends. They were clearly just fooling around. I can't believe that we know have a thread with 14 pages about it..

Oh god no... Ok, it was a "go without saying" thing... I thought I missed something more specific, as in some actual NX hardware specs.

I don't even see the point in comparing things to Scorpio... or even talking about Scorpio... NX only needs to be compared to current hardware, and even that is debatable. Nintendo is likely doing some kind of new interface or controller gimmick which will negate a reasonable spec comparison anyways.

The thing is that they haven't even gone as far as acknowledging its existence. On top of that, other sources have looked into the other hardware well but continue to only post about NX when some crazy, negative rumor/hoax or weird controller patent pops up. They know that they're audience considers Nintendo a joke, so they only post about them when it's an opportunity to laugh. It's all Nintendo's fault of course and only Nintendo can change it, but still.

Yeah, you're right there - not to speak for the good bods at Eurogamer, but Nintendo's UK core is pretty small compared to Sony and MS. They have a bigger 'base' in Germany, whereas the other two have more dedicated teams (of which I'm part of) in the UK.

Take in mind that historically Nintendo UK is very, very low on the totem pole. And as such, are less likely to get info. Which, in turn, means even less chances of a 'leak'.

Anyone saying that news vendors aren't actively looking for NX info is mad. You see the sheer amount of clicks and shares any NX news gets these days - anyone breaking genuine NX news would instantly gain a massive amount of credit and audience bump. The problem is, there's a severe lack of said genuine info, and far too many fakes, the controller one being the one which has made most journos very, very cautious.

If there's nothing out there coming from big sites, it means there's nothing to report.

The Witcher series developer CD Projekt Red believes that the NX “will be fantastic.” That’s according to the company’s communications manager Fabian Mario Döehla, who spoke in vague terms about Nintendo’s new console during a Rocket Beans TV interview as translated by NintenGen.

Host: What do you know about NX?

Fabian: It will be fantastic. As developer [CD Projekt] you get access to the hardware and everybody [at CD Projekt] is looking forward. We know things.

Host: Are you lying now?

Fabian: No, no.
