Yep the NDA let you speaks freely about new games coming to your next platform but you can't talk about the awesomeness of that said platform, makes perfect sense.
C'mon 10k and Trev, if we must not overreact to bad hype (Ubi statement) why should we overthink and overreact on this one ?

He was definitely referring to Scorpio not the Xbox One S according to the translation I got, the reason is because they were talking about how expensive it would be and how Nintendo would not be making a console so expensive that it would hurt profits and sales for them.
Before that he was talking about how the Wii was during development and how some people were very skeptical that it would be a success because the power of the Wii was basically the same as the Gamecube. Then he went on to say that with the NX all he is hearing is positive things about it, likely referening it's performance.
That is a lot of detail to go into and doesn't appear to be a joke. Watch that part, he is serious about that.

So I know most people don't think Nintendo can pull off a Wii-like success again (which I don't agree with personally) but from a developer's perspective, the potential of the NX should not be ignored.
Imagine if the Wii actually was HD capable. I don't care about specific Flops or shaders, but imagine if the Wii was able to get HD ports of PS360 games that looked at least somewhat comparable. That "Wii HD" would have likely been even more successful than the Wii was, specifically because it wouldn't have been viewed as a companion console by the gaming market.
Back to the NX, if Nintendo is trying to attach a Wii-like feature (face tracking, TV based hologram, who knows) to attract the mass market, AND is including specs which place it at the same level as the competition (CPU: NX>>>XB1 according to LCGeek), then that presents a very huge potential for success from a third party developer's perspective.
Does that mean it will necessarily succeed? No. Does that mean Nintendo has approached more third parties with NX details? Not necessarily. But it means that Nintendo is (hopefully) laying the ground for a successful launch. They are likely taking care of most of the launch software because they know third parties won't give a damn until the install base is at a good enough level.
This is what I believe he means when he says people are excited about the NX, even though they may not know what it is. It has the potential to open up a third/fourth revenue stream for a lot of developers.

Of course it does. Would developers be excited about another PS4 level machine on the market with some Wii like gimmick 3 and a half years later? Nintendo isn't going to bet the house on a gimmick again, Kimishima directly said the NX will be a complete departure from anything "Wii" related.

Fabian Doehla wasn't joking in him referencing developers being very excited about the NX. He also leaked the original Xbox in 2000 by mistake.
Why don't one of you ask him directly about this? Read the context of the interview as well, that part wasn't a "joke"
This should probably be added to the OP as well.
But the thing is, it's not like the PS4 & XB1 will magically stop being supported once the Neo & Scorpio come out. Plus, with Sony & Microsoft demanding that the base models still be supported, the Neo & Scorpio are starting to look less like next-gen systems & more like the iPad Pro to the base models' iPad Air. The other thing is that Nintendo doesn't want to sell the NX device(s) at a loss, & I doubt that they're in any position to charge $400+ for a high-end system (especially one with a low chance of full western third party support).
A good chunk of the rumors going around, including Emily Rogers (who, while she has been wrong about a couple of things, was also right about just as many other things...probably a little more that I may have missed).

I've been trying really hard to 100% convince myself of what I said earlier, but it's not totally working (only about 50% because I can't rationalize all of it at once) and I don't care much anymore so I'll drop that part. Trev and 10k are still setting the bar way too high, though. I'd say what the "best" case is, but I really hate using TFLOPS to compare things so I don't know what else to say.

I don't want to set the bar high. I'm just going by that I was told by my Polaris source (who was verified by Nirolak and Bish) who after E3 told me in relation to NX specs "between PS4. The needle is moving past halfway towards neo" .
The shared library thing seems to be a pipe dream. My bet is more like UWP for Nintendo. More cross buy and cross play. Easier to port to both. Not really a shared library.
Pretty much all of the larger 64-bit cores are.

Fabian Döhla is known for his jokes and trolling on german media, especially on Rocketbeans TV. He and the founders both worked for Giga Games over 10 years ago. Most germans here will probably know it. He often appears at them but mostly as a private person. He even has his own show "Almost Döhli".

That wasn't a full verification, and from what I heard Bish wasn't even involved. The fact that you're still pushing this "theoretical performance" BS also makes me confident that this guy is fucking with you, legit or not. A smart leaker knows when to shut his trap. Just look at Emily. She did everything right, but the second that she made one mistake she was hounded to the point that she had to take a break. What do you think will happen to you if you're wrong? Is all of this worth it? It's why you don't just depend on one anonymous source, verified or not. We had a journalist who corroborated the controller hoax because it matched something that he'd heard, and look how that turned out. Unless you find 3-4 more verified sources saying the same thing, you need to be careful and stop taking what you heard as fact.
It wouldn't be a major issue, but it would require extra, unnecessary work.

Nobody ever should have stopped trusting him. As others have said, I think you're mistaking him for 10k.
People are leaning too much on both of them tbh. Trev is only speculating at this point, and 10k's sources aren't reliable. People just need to learn to take all leakers with a grain of salt and not just the ones they don't agree with. This applies to the people who take everything Emily Rogers says as fact as well.
Yes he has done a great job but what he has done since ? A bunch of great theory videos but nothing more. He is utterly committed to his polaris theory, while I want to believe him, sometimes that's a bit far-fetched like in this conspiracy theory about Fabian's back-pedalling.

Yeah, Trev's notability came from his source but it doesn't sound like he's been using him.

However, generally people in the industry don't put faith in Nintendo products before they are revealed to the public unless they know details to get them excited. It is usually "wait and see" Take Two's "Very interested in NX" is also very telling and not paid (allegedly) PR at an E3 conference like what Nintendo did at E3 for the Wii U dev hype videos. Also Take Two changed their tone on Wii U to "skeptical" months before release.
