Nintendo is doubling down on smart phone development, it's now actively hiring [additional] programmers for their Kyoto office and Tokyo office exclusively for smartphone development. It seems like the company wants to expand its smartphone portfolio without compromising the resources allocated to dedicated game development.

Makes sense. They need to get their IP in as many hands as possible and one of the ways they plan on doing it is through their mobile (cell) games. They need to keep content coming frequently to keep gamers attention. More developers with experience in mobile gaming makes sense.

This makes sense and really should help ensure NX has even more resources available. Instead of pulling resources from NX game development they are looking to expand.

They are thinking long term by utilizing mobile gaming to get their IP in the hands of more people, along with other ventures. I think it's a good plan.

It's to increase the overall resources dedicated to smartphone development. Full time positions and for both offices, so this isn't just to finish a mobile game.

This actually good news really for normal development. Hiring people specifically for mobile development etc. means they are not just relying on the traditional move people around as needed. Not saying that will stop but having dedicated staff certainly helps

New staffs is always better, especially for Nintendo.
They can't just use the same console devs team for mobile, or they'll run into the same problem of making game for console and handheld not fast enough.
