Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

I think I am done with this until they fix it. Servers always down when i am out, gps malfunctions and I have found exactly 0 pokemon at my house(aside from the starter and the incenses i used.

So while many of us are having server issues, what kind of improvements do you want to see from the game? I've got three big wishes:

1) Work in background mode / with the screen locked. Would help solve the battery issues, and makes egg hatching viable. Their launch trailer showed a girl cycling to hatch eggs, but that's literally impossible at the moment.

2) Tying into the above, customise when the phone vibrates. I want on/off sliders for things like PokeStops, Gyms, Egg hatching, Common Pokemon showed up, Uncommon, Rare, and whether to vibrate for already caught Pokemon. Would allow us to focus on the elements of the game we enjoy most, and again crack down on battery usage by only opening the app when we need to. Keeps our eyes on the road instead of the phone!

3) "Transfer" button to be at the top of a Pokemon's page, instead of right at the bottom. Because damn, scrolling down with such a laggy menu system again and again and again is just painful.

I really wish the combat system was similar to the games. It is pretty disappointing how it just feels like a tapper. The dodge mechanic doesn't seem to work all that well.

Does this game like to eat up a lot of data? I'm excited to try it out when it comes out in Canada, but I don't want to use up all my data super quickly.

Tell you guys man, there's a bloodbath going at the GYM spot right outside my office. It is bloody contentious. The lag doesn't help also. I wasted my 6 pokemon to get rid of the 3 300CP gym masters, then some bastard swooped in and placed their 600+CP pokemons while I'm lagging out. The battle graphcis just doesn't stop at this GYM.

This should already be the priority here, especially since Pokemon GO actually bugs out more the faster you move. Plus.....your driving!!!! It's illegal to use your phone while driving in my state. everything must be hands free.

Dodge Mechanic? What dodge mechanic?


Things that probably should be fixed about this game:
  • Servers should not suck
  • Unify PTC and Store logins
  • Pokemon should appear a bit more frequently
  • A tutorial would be nice
  • A lot more gameplay and interaction

server issues are normal with new games

it doesn't help that a lot of people downloaded the APK, so that's why it is saturated, it will eventually get better

If you swipe left or right you move around the pokemon in the center. I guess to supposedly dodge their attacks, but it didn't seem like it really helped.

I imagine this game is not even going to be usable tomorrow with people out of work and kids not in school during the weekend.

WTF.... Downloaded this for two days and have not seen a single Pokemon (other than the 3 at the beginning). Today boot it up again and my Squritle is gone. I have 0 pokeman now.

We'll see how long this lasts, but more than anything this gives me an excuse to walk. Already walked four miles today when I probably would have walked less than one.

Nah. This is WoW TBC levels of bad. If these problems keep going into the weekend, it will definitely start cannibalizing users. Mobile game players are fickle and typically if a game spends one whole week in the shitter, it will effect the user base.

The APK leaking had nothing to do this. The game is officially launched in all regions. The APK was out for about 12 hours before this became an issue. What really did them in was sites like IGN and Gamespot posting direct download links to the APK, which gave people who wouldn't normally know the means to sideload an application the ability and know how to do so.

I'm not gonna lie, I figured they'd have it mostly sorted by now. Three days in you kind of have an idea of the size of your returning user base going into the weekend. The fact that's it getting worse and not better is a troubling sign.

When I opened it up last night, I saw Pokemon in my living room. But I'm at the office now and I just see my avatar standing on a map.

How do I check to see if theres any Pokemon in my office?

I once said in a Pokémon Sun and Moon thread that *if Pokémon were real a Raticate would be just as viable in a Pokémon battle as a Lucario would*

Man did my Raticate prove me right today!

I found a Red team gym. It had a 256 Pegeotto and a 289 Pegeotto protecting the gym.

My highest is Raticate at 229 and a Pegeotto at 189 and a bunch of low level Pokémon. I wanted to see what fighting a gym was like and man was that shit intense!

My Raticate put in some work despite being weaker than both of his Pokémon! It beat the 289 CP Pegeotto one on one and it only had a sliver of health left. The second one came in and my Raticate was dodging hits and putting in jabs like Ali in a champion chip fight.

I brought that one down to under half health before Raticate couldn't take anymore. It KO 4 of my Pokémon before Oddish took it down with a poison attack.

Also on my drive home I caught a Balbasuar.

Since you're in your office go into your items and use an incense. It will attract Pokemon to you for thirty minutes.

Ugh was doibg awesome serverwise, tooke down 2 yellow gyms, then i tried putting some pkmn in yhe second gym and it crashed... Now theres a unguarded gym.. :(

It's July, no one's in school.

But yeah, the 20 and 30-somethings not having to work 9-5 will definitely put some strain on the servers over the weekend.

Do not do this. The server will go down and your item will be wasted.

Just got off work and on my way home. Notice a guy downtown on his bike and dressed in all black. I think myself "ok...." and then notice the giant red R on his shirt and he has his phone out. Damn Team Rocket at it again.

This game is incredible.
