KINGSGLAIVE: Final Fantasy XV Thread: Everything for the future king

Yeah, he looked much more strong-willed in Nomura's vision of Versus. The way he faced Noctis in the stand-off looks so fierce and self-composed, with such a graceful aura of superiority and humbleness at the same time.

Such a shame that Tabata's team seemingly had no understanding of what made his character truly special and completely wasted his potential in FFXV. Should've made a completely new character instead, Coloratus or something, I don't know.

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I don't like Game Ravus's look, either.

Geez talk about reading into things.

This thread has gone in some glorious places. I'll miss Jaime Ravuster, but I like how gaunt in-game Ravus looks. D'aaaww, Iris! I'm gonna need all the sibling bonding.

As a huge Nomura fan, nothing is more hilarious than the people who superimpose what "Nomura's vision" might have been and how Tabata took that away or removed it without a shred of proof, and simultaneously conveniently forgetting that Nomura originally wanted to make FFXV a musical after watching Les Miserables the movie.

Since Iris is in the game I'm expecting more characters from the anime and movie to be in it as well.

Well, there's hardly any more remarkable characters in the anime other than Iris. My only fear is that the characters that survive the events of the movie don't show up in the game. It would kind of create a plot hole.

One might not, the rest are confirmed. But even then I have a feeling he will.

Oh, DILF!Regis and Gladio's Hot Dad, you'll always live on on in my heart.

I'm still curious if the younger blond man to the right of Iedolas in the stand-off is just a well-designed redshirt, or a character that might have some plot relevance to Iedolas. He's kinda got a spiky haired Rufus Shinra thing going on? I don't think we've seen him since, so probably just nicely designed background character.

It was some half-joke and it was definitely not "originally". But nice work spreading misconceptions.

There are far too many misconceptions regarding what Versus was supposed to be. I think Koozek's spiel's just poking fun at people who come up with elaborate "truths" based on really nothing out there but the way one's opinion interprets a scene or character design.

That might have been a joke, but there is no denying that Nomura used music extremely well in all of his trailers. Take this trailer, for example, and see how well the tension in the music matches that in the visuals. Or this part, where we see Noctis going down the stairs in a dramatic fashion, exactly on the rhythm of the equally dramatic music (he's already in rhythm when it's way zoomed out!). Or the way Stella is revealed in the old party scene. I wouldn't say this is what all of Versus XIII was going to be like, but music played a HUGE role in these trailers, much more so than in all previous Final Fantasy games. Apart from just setting the mood, each note in the music literally told another little detail of the story in the Versus XIII trailers. These trailers are actually much like an opera or a musical in that aspect.

Of course, that's all trailer music and I'm sure he (or Yoko Shimomura for that matter) wouldn't have gone so far for less important scenes, but he's definitely a director who puts thought in the important scenes he directs and tries to match up the little details in the music to the visuals (and the other way around, of course). Judging from Tabata's trailers, he's less good at this (see below), so in a sense we would probably have got a more musical FF if Nomura had continued to direct it.

It's also nice to see how the general consensus here on NeoGAF on which FFXV trailers are better than others matches exactly with how well the visuals are synced to the music (and of course the quality of the music), with the TGS 2014 trailer and the Uncovered trailer being some post-Nomura trailers that do a good job (but with much less attention to detail in the music than Nomura had), and the Dawn trailer not synced at all.

stopped being funny many threads ago

Still makes me chuckle. It's funny because it's true!

Add...de... wha?

For ADHD. But it's just week speed, which, paradoxically, can improve focus in folks with deficient prefrontal processing.

But you don't need that shit bro, maybe a little something more mellow
nah, never change
