Ahh damn it....hit me hard when it happen but I guess this is what life is something.

As for the rest of the episode, you can see some doubt from Tomoya about this. I guess his fear is making him doubt about all of this. Do hope he can come out from this situation but it will take times and effort of other people near him to help through this.

Also, good to see the rest of the their friends come in to to celebrate on Christmas. Fun to see the gangs come in one more time.

The mysterious girl and robot is here but it look like it's meaning is becoming more clear now. Wonder where it will take as it might now be coming up more and more now.

Still....what happen in this episode is making me shead some tear now. Just damn it....

Aniplex actually does distribute to one Canadian retailer called the C&L Club. While their site looks a bit shady (as in, hasn't been really overhauled since the 90s, as one may expect of the CD and Laserdisc club), it's legit. I've bought a few Aniplex products from them, and they also carry NISA stuff. The prices can be quite decent for Aniplex products during sales; at one point, I got Fate/Zero part II on BD from them for around $170 CAD. Would have cost me a bit more getting it from RightStuf with how the dollar was at the time. Lately their sales haven't been that great though; some Aniplex stuff has been discounted by only 5%. Makes me wonder how I'm going to buy that Doukyuusei BD in September.

Expanding to some other Canadian retailers would only be a good thing! The more options I have to buy their stuff, the better. Now if only Pony Canyon could find a way to get their stuff over here, then I could get those Euphonium BDs...
Yea I checked that site when I think you talked about it a good while ago. Those price are still way too much for my poor wallet. Oh well lets wish for the impossible :p

Man....Tomoya didn't do well after the incident after the last episode and slip quite a bit. You can literally see this in 1st few minutes of the show. I guess he still didn't get over what have happen and it still hurt him even if he didn't want to say it.

Seeing Nagisa mother ask him for a vacation break is actually a good idea as it force Tomoya to step out from his dark world which is in for a while and man...it look like it's a long time as we got to see Tomoya daughter, Ushio, who is now a 5 years old girl when she was introduced. Look like Nagisa parent did take her when Tomoya can't take her by himself anymore.

Seeing Tomoya and Ushio is odd as you can see how much Tomoya isn't really a father like person based on how he react with his daughter. Make sense once you found out he wasn't there for her when she grow up. All of this is done by Nagisa parent. Still, he manage to do some minor things which make Ushio a bit less worry about her dad to the point she start to follow him a bit. A weird introduction between them but it slowly start to be what a parent should be. Kinda weird as this might be something very similar to Tomoya when he was young when his mom die and his father just let go of taking care of Tomoya. A repeat cycle when you see Tomoya right now.

I do hope it get better after this and maybe a start of a bonding with Tomoya and Ushio so, they can be what a family be based on how Nagisa want it to be when she was there and promise.

I recently found out something else that's steering me away from Pony Canyon's Euphonium release; apparently episodes 1 and 2 on volume 1 have mono audio on both the DVD and BD. Pony Canyon says that they're going to ask the authoring company about it. Hopefully they'll get a replacement program going for those who bought the faulty disks.

Wow, that was amazing... I can't even think clearly yet, it was that good... I mean, yeah, it played off the whole "power of friendship" trope for an amazing outcome, but I don't care ,that was really, REALLY good. It got really emotional there for Rokuro with what that meant to him and what effect that has on Benio and Rokuro together going forward. Man, that alone was more than I could have asked for from this show.
I wish more people were watching this show, it's not as generic as it was made out to be, lol.

Then that clip at the ending, looks like it's gonna be a heated battle next week... I also have a bunch of questions as to HOW that all happened, but I'm guessing those will be answered next week from that short scene...

You took that better than I thought you would. Your images didn't work, but there were some very powerful moments in there and was just amazing stuff...

Get ready, the next episode broke me. I couldn't stop for awhile..... they just kept falling down my face in a whirlwind of emotions at a couple parts....

EDIT:
Arghh....fuck...just hit that spot on Ep 18 and now I am crying like a bitch here.

Well, there it is....

You will cry again at the end of the episode, sorry dude, it's another great and extremely, heartfelt moment.

Also, you will now never be able to see that gif again (with them out in the field) without choking up a little...

What gif is that from?

Also, NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE @those gifs

Danganronpa 3 Future 03

what an asspull but okay, I'll let it pass

Naegi makes a pretty bold move this episode, that was cool. Really not a fan of the cliff hangers though.

I also understand why they didn't make a game out of this now,
the rules have changed

I don't need to say it....gif is what me cry like a bitch and man....they did it great to pull it off.

You can see Tomoya didn't change well and still have this anger which he still bottle up which you see come out in one scene which scare Ushio. I guess he is trying hard to be some sort of a father to Ushio but he isn't fully ready and you can see this when Ushio ask him about her mother which he don't want to talk about.

Watching him playing with Ushio is great to watch as you know Ushio never have a chance to have fun with his dad till now. The scene where Tomoya talk to his grandmother and founding out the truth of his father might be the breaking point when he realize of how much his dad actually care of him even though he never remember it when he was young and how much sacrifice he have to go through for him. In a way, you can say it's like him now with Ushio.

The big scene when he come back to Ushio and when she speak is when he literally break down (as same with me and any audience who watch the show). Just emotional built up so much it need to get out. This happen once more when Tomoya talk about her mom, Nagisa.

Powerful episode and now I can see why it's good just right here. They're few more episode left so, we will see where it go from here.

Update: Might re watch this episode once more as it might be one of the best well down episode in the show.

Almost had a tear drop? Heartless.... I cried, I admit it, it made a grown man cry, but I also have
daughters of my own
so I look at it from a different perspective....

now, on Qualidea, yeah, I'm still not sure what is going on in this show, but the last few minutes of the show came out of nowhere and put an interesting wrinkle on things, so I vowed to give it at least 1 more before I cry at how cringe-worthy the new antagonists are...

I'm just glad nobody is using "feels". Manly tears I'd take but even then it makes it seem like there's something wrong with men crying. Only person who shouldn't cry is a pimp.

Because pimps don't cry. No, they never shed a tear.

Lol got called that before or robot for the same reason. The people I talked about it with all seem to have a cried a few times throughout the show, don't blame them though it is sad lol one of the saddest anime I've watched. Ah yeah I think I remember you mentioning that, a few scenes must have had a way different effect on you.

As for Qualidea Code, agreed that those last few minutes were something unexpected. I just think the show feels really bland, I wouldn't call it terrible overall just bland.

This looks cool and all but don't you hate cg mechas in 2d worlds?

Also what is so special about it that it deserves such a reaction?

The CG is a shame, but I've seen a lot worse when it comes to CG mecha shows.

The reason I'm reaching as such is because this looks like it's trying to be a legit super robot show invoking the tone of series like Getter Robo.

We've got:

-Three dudes at once piloting a giant mecha made up of three smaller robots with a gattai sequence.
-Cool attack names like MEGATON PUNCH and DIFFUSION BLASTER.
-Heroic-sounding insert songs for said attack names.
-Go Nagai himself is looking forward to this.

This is the kind of super robot stuff that's LEGIT.

Man, I started reading the Overlord novel. People said the anime is slow, but the novel is even slower and I like it. Dear god. ~50 pages in and the first episode is still not wrapped up. And as it looks like, the ~200 pages will only cover the first 3 episodes.

Jeez. These first 3 episodes better be damn good then. Not sure if I'd ever be able to read something this slow. Although I was able to read Lord of The Rings as a kid, so who knows.

Ahhh I get it the super robot fanboy in you saw the possibilty of a good show. Will keep an eye on it.

What was the last super robot show we got? Super robot wars? I can't seem to think of anything else.

I think that happens with a lot of LN tho. I red Danmachi 1 recently and I think it only covered 3 episodes.

Sorry for the double post.

I don't want to hear any complaints from anyone.

The summer before my freshman year of HS, my required reading was Gone with the Wind and I had a report to write the first week of class on it. Seriously, a 14 year old kid reading 700+ Gone with the Wind before classes even started and of course I had double sessions for football the two weeks before school started,, $@%@%@%@% Oh and did I tell you the teacher had the Cliff Notes book on his desk and presented it that first week and said he would specifically use questions about the book that wouldn't be covered in it? (he lied BTW) That was the worst...

Sweetness and Lightning 3

I'm honestly not too interested in descriptions of cooking, but thankfully this leavens that with sweet interactions between Tsumugi and her father that are pleasant to watch. It's still a somewhat idealized depiction of parenting, but I appreciated how this episode depicted how hard it can be to figure out how to deal with children's mood swings.

Well it looks like August 1st will be Duckroll Judgement Day.

Hmm?

This reminds me, in a month my co-op will be done and I go back to school for another semester. Sighhhh.

Aku no Hana 08

I haven't watched this in a month but I still remember everything!

The first 5 minutes, no hyperbole is Nakamura and Kusoga holding hands and walking through scenery with zero dialogue. I almost thought the entire episode would be just that. Later its just Kasuga walking to school for two minutes the same way. It's so UNCOMFORTABLE.

I think I'd rather look at that baby from Eraserhead for 20 minutes.

Kizu is already an old hat. Was watching it back in January just two weeks after Japan.

It's a little sad that the movie got some shit in Japan because of the Aniplex release antics.

But Kizu is a nice example that more adaptation should get rid of inner monologues. The lack of them didn't hurt Kizu one bit - quite the opposite.

They were pretty smart with their Araragi monologue cuts. In the novel you get like 5 pages of him mulling over buying porn mags but they just show him getting frustrated for 30 seconds and it works just as well for their time limit. That's also why the film is shorter on dialogue.

Also if you really think about it if Araragi hadn't have gotten horny because he saw Hanekawa's skirt flip up and decide to go buy some porno mags late one night none of this shit would've ever happened.

Then again, with his sister and the town he lives in it would've happened anyway.

Touching episode but didn't hit as hard as last episode. You can see Nagisa parent manage to shed some tear for their daughter as they didn't have the time to do it as they need to take care of Ushio. Kinda sad to see but understand the pain they have to go through without a chance to closure for it.

Seeing Tomoya manage to go back to see his dad one more time to thank him and help him is very touching. I guess the last episode when he know how much his dad sacrifice for him hit him very hard as he though his dad was something else without knowing the other side of it. The end for it is very nice as he do wish his dad can now live in peace without the issue he have to get through now.

Also, Fuuko is now out of her sleep and yea....same person we love to poke on. Kinda funny how she age but have the same personality. Also, seeing her with Ushio is very cute to watch. Got to see the same thing she did with the starfish.

Overall, a very touching episode. Didn't make me cry as much but do hit me a bit mostly for the dad side.

Nothing is really wrong with it. I actually like it, as it gives Momonga more character. He thinks much more about what is happening and gives some more background information which is missing in the anime. I just remembered that people back then complained that the anime is really slow compared to many others out there (and it is, I just didn't see it as a bad thing). I just though that not much was cut but reading through the first chapter much of the internal monologue Momonga has is simply missing.

The only comparison I have is No Game No Life. There the first book also covered roughly the first 3 episodes, the difference with Overlord is, that Overlord has ~70 more pages... xD

The Overlord LN is a prime example on how to fucking not do infodumps. Probably one of the worst things I've had the displeasure of reading regarding that.

I swear, let's say a chapter has 10k words, then at least 6k of them are pure infodump if I'm generous, and in the most shitty way possible.
It was probably in one of the later volumes, where it was written from the viewpoint of some soldier dude in a castle, and everytime he looked at anything, it was like he had to reminiscence the history of the entire kingdom in multiple paragraphs or something.
Dude looks at a knight, infodump how the entire knight system in the country works.
Dude looks at maids, infodump on where they are from, how they are different then normal maids etc.
Dude looks at a knight statue, infodump how they were made, from what they were made, how their significance changed over various generations and whatever.
And so on.

Just remembering makes me angry. Doubly so because the stuff that happens is actually interesting.
