Square Enix announced that their MMORPG title Dragon Quest X is launching in China for PC and will be published by Shanda Games.

The announcement was made during a recent event, along with a new official website that opened for the upcoming China version of Dragon Quest X.

Why can't we get this beautiful game? I hear it captures the spirit of DQ very well. I'd play it over Final Fantasy XIV any day.

Good for China, I suppose.

I paid good money for this Dynex!
This does remind me that it's been a while since we've seen anything about DQXI.

DQ X's ship has sailed. Let's get over it.

Because no one is willing to pony up for all of the backend required to run a MMO these days.

Never been into MMOs but as a massive DQ fan I would've taken the plunge on this game.

Game was released for Wii, Wii U, 3DS, PC, PS4. There were plenty of popular platforms to choose from. Probably too late for any of the Nintendo versions at this point but PC/PS4 could still do decently.

Money. Which is weird since SE continues to support FFXI but I suppose its pretty cheap nowadays. DQX plays like an enhanced FFXI last I heard, which always made it sound appealing to me. But I think its best we let DQX go.

(They could have at least did a PC version for US...)

You son of a bitch OP, I stopped reading for a second when I saw all those !'s. There was a fleeting moment of happiness there before you snatched it away!

It's not really news, since Shanda announced they were working on it over a year ago, but now it's close enough that they're doing promotion and have shown it off at an event in playable form.

The game will never come out in English officially. Honestly, if you want to play the game, doing so isn't that big of a deal. The game requires a VPN but there's so many different free ways to solve that problem. The offline portion of the game has a complete fan translation, although it's a little rough. And I've personally built tools for the online portion of the game to aid users in translating on the fly if they don't understand the language. There's a community of English-speaking players to aid as well.

Isn't the single player portion only a minor part of the game? I thought it was only the level 1-10 intro.

I'm not going to ask for this one because I know I won't play it. I wasn't able to play FF XI and XIV even though I am fully interested in them, so I'd rather then just localize titles that they know they have a market here.

It would be appreciated if they made things easier for overseas players to play the game, since I heard there was some sort of regional block. I don't know if that was officially fixed, though.

Really wanted this on Wii U. Looks so good, love to have played an MMO in the DQ world. I'd even take the Wii version at this point.

Why not just make it F2P and add a bunch of cash shop stuff?
