Zero Mission is a pretty faithful remake with some REmake esque twists to fuck with experienced players of the original.

Zero Mission in terms of structure is pretty spot on with the NES original. the biggest difference is that after the Mother Brain segment a whole new part of the game was added that did not exist in the NES original. Whether this addition was an improvement or not is up for interpretation. I'm talking about the Zero Suit Samus portion when it plays like a stealth game needing to hide from the Pirates and trying to get your suit back.

So there is no real reason to play the NES game if you have Zero Mission then....unless you like curious about how the game looks

Well Zero Mission includes the NES original anyways. So there is always the option to compare both back to back if you like that sort of thing.

Anybody can point me how to connect a dual shock 3 or a Wii u pro controller to Windows 8?

And people, who cares about the chronological order of the series. The important thing is the evolution of it's design.

For WiiU Pro Controller: WiinUSoft
Connect via bluetooth (no PIN required) and run the app.
If you're not using the Toshiba BT stack, you'll need the hotfix from here.

I hope he adds the ability to apply shaders or a scanline filter in an update

Also does support the 8BitDo SNES Pad

Regarding Metroid AI:

I'm getting the impression that the Alpha Metroids are becoming smarter, dodging more easily my attacks now. Is it me or...?

Just played it and made a lot of progress. It's amazing how good controls can change a game. I've had Metroid II for years but every time I try to play it the game turns me off just based on the wonky controls. I didn't realize the game is so easy, at least right now.

I'm going to have to play the GB original after this to see if I can get some good deja vu vibes.

Goddamn this is polished. Amazing work.

Wall jumping is as satisfying to do as ever. Already managed to climb up very tall wall and got rewarded with pickups.

So stoked about this. I've played the original so much that I can beat it in a little less than 2 hours.

Will be streaming this remake soon and/or making a Let's Play.

Oh god I can't wait to get home. My imported hori fight pad with xinput and an amazing dpad is going to be perfect. I am on a side scroller retro kick thanks to it.

This absolutely feels like a proper Metroid game. Anyone doing anything in the style of Metroid should take a look at this for inspiration, seriously. It's stunning how many of these games fuck up jumping when the originals got it so right.

Holy fuck. Is it just me or does this feel insanely polished? It's really well done.

The music is fantastic and it feels perfect playing on a DS4. Damn...

Just got the
charge beam
. Still loving every second of it. The bits of lore (gotten through the game's manual, I think) via the scanner are great.

Zero Mission speed indeed.

In terms of speed, Samus is really, reaaaally slow in Super Metroid. Fusion corrected that and made her quicker, and in Zero Mission Samus is at her fastest (on top of being very nimble).

Just got the
spring ball
upgrade, it feels like im playing an authentic GBA Metroid game. On the page it mentions improvements and features, i wonder what those could be.

I wonder what Nintendo thinks about this. Hopefully amazed that one guy can make a game that many Metroid fans want, but don't get. You give us Federation Force.

mmm. Tomorrow I will pick the GB Micro and the GBA Metroids to confirm it. I have played Fusion in the last years, but I can't remember a lot about Zero.

The fun thing is that I had forgotten about this completely and I was going to play Prime 3 right now. Not sure what to do anymore.

I'm pretty sure that I remember playing the demo for this back at community college and was really impressed by it. That was at least eight years ago. Has it really been that long? I have since forgotten all about this fan project and am excited to see that it was not only still alive, but releasing!

I downloaded and played it for about 30 minutes already, and I'm loving it!

A port to Android running on the Shield TV would be amazing.

I still can't believe this is actually real, just blows my mind.

I'm having a great time so far, playing this on my TV with the Dual Shock 4! It really looks and feels like a polished, Nintendo-quality remake.

A fan project like this usually has no right to be this good.

Instead its arguably as good if not better than what Nintendo did with Zero Mission so far.

If I can get this to detect my NES30 Pro, I'll be estatic.

It works with my SFC30 that I posted, but the NES30 has more buttons.

Nintendo should be equally embarrassed and humbled now

A single fan gives us this glorious labour of love for Metroid's 30th year when they can only manage to shit out Federation Farce.

This is astounding. Played for about an hour now -- feels exactly what you would expect from a Nintendo-made Metroid remake in terms of quality. I've never played Metroid 2 (the only one I haven't) before so this is going to be a great experience. I definitely need to brush up though, these initial Metroids are kicking my ass a bit too much.

Dang the
Chozo guardian boss on the way out of the area with the bombs and spider ball caught me off guard. Nearly killed me too (playing on Hard)

I'm also really loving how
the Metroid AI gradually improves with each encounter

I can't remember if the 2D metroids (or just M2 for that matter) had the charge beam pulling items, but this is great.
