what the fuck was that thing with the spiked walls. That wasnt in the first game was it lol

I was super caught off guard... Whats up there above him? I couldnt get up there so i just left it
I bomb jumped / spider balled up there. It was a missile tank, IIRC. You can get there via Power Bomb later too, it seems like.

Holy shit this is just amazing

Playing with xb one elite controller and it really is zero mission 2.

I am shocked how good this is.. Well if nintendont

Massive props to the team behind the game

Individual. Not team. This was all done by one guy. Pretty amazing isn't it?

Edit: And I just had my first game over. Hah.

I went into the room with the Green spike stuff that sucks on your health and ran into an Alpha and got killed.

Anyone able to inject scanlines using sweetfx? I tried using the same settings I use for Forbidden planet, but I just get a black screen when I enable it.

So turns out I had skipped Space Jump and Varia Suit when I engaged that Metroid in that earlier post. Yay for pointless Sequence Breaking :D

That bomb thing where you charge your beam and then hold down+charge when going into Morph mode is really damn useful.

It was an alpha metroid.

This is still the first big encounter. At least it was for me?

Loving this so far btw. Glad it's finally out. Really fantastic work. A real Metroid game.

You're supposed to have the Varia suit by then? :O

I'm well past that and still haven't found it. I did sequence break getting the charge beam and spider ball before getting the bombs too.

I think the bomb spray is in Zero Mission as well

Man, so many control options!

First, has anybody tried the 8bitdo SFC30? It doesn't seem to detect it natively via directinput, but supports Xinput controllers just fine and has corresponding buttons.

Second, with all the various control options, I'm having trouble deciding what I want to go with. Right now I'm going with Fusion/Zero Mission style R to missile, but I might change it to Super Metroid L to aim up/R to aim down and A (SNES layout) to toggle missiles.
Believe me. The Fusion/Zero way is the better one. The Super Metroid controls' way of switching weapons was stupid and cumbersome in comparison.

Been playing it for over the last hour.

It's really damn good.

Just finally got the Varia Suit. So good.

The soundtrack is really good too. Reminds me a bit of Prime 1.

Anyone else using a USB SNES controller? I've got it set up as best as I can to be like Super Metroid, but I'm curious about how other's have their's set up.

This is so good and sad at the same time. Why does Nintendo come up with crap like Federation Force, instead of this? I just don't get it.

Absolutely digging this game. So fucking good.

Some early thoughts

- I don't like the sound mixing. It feels off, but I can't put my finger on it just yet.

- Not a fan of the intro art for Samus. It looks like she has stubby arms.

- I like that using the Charge Beam to bring in items was incorporated

- It feels good to play, but still feels a bit stiff to move around

- I like the Save Points, but I can't figure out what the symbol on them are.

That's all I can say right now, but I'm pretty positive on this game right now. Some things I want to figure out first before I judge.

No sound at all when playing the game on Windows 7. Am I the only one?

EDIT
The game must be launched from the folder, as indicated in the readme file. If placed on the tasks bar (at least on Windows 7) and launched from it, the game won't have any sound.

Music is so fucking good

Gameplay is tight with great customization options and plays excellently using an XBox 360 controller, using D-Pad for movement is a must since the control stick movement is too twitchy. The only adjustments I made so far is swapping Aim Up and Aim Down to LT and LB respectively, it weirded me out to have them flipped

Oh wow I found a
new boss when backtracking from the spider ball area. It was a Chozo defense system.
Great use of the setting as I always wanted from a remake. Music is consistently great too.

It has controller support. But it's also a 240p game so

so...it'll look absolutely fantastic then! :D

Or I'll deal. Because Metroid turns 30. Happy birthday Metroid, maybe one day you and zero suit metroid will get an extra rep in the next smash.
Or a new game but lets not get our hopes up.

EDIT: I'm on a mac, I hope this works...

EDIT2: Oh....

I think Mac players are playing this game via Bootcamp?

Also, damn I need to find a way to deal with these alpha metroids better. This one was giving me the what for and I couldn't jump away from it. All part of the experience I suppose. This would be a great time to order a pizza and just loaf around the rest of the day playing this masterpiece. Thank you, guy, who made this.

Just found something pretty sick

Use your charge beam and roll into a ball, while holding down and the bombs wont spread everywhere but they'll stack vertically for an easy bomb jump

Excited to see all the positive impressions; just about to download this now. It's going to be great to finally enjoy Metroid 2, even when I was a kid playing it on my neighbours' GameBoy I always found the game a bit too unwieldy thanks to everything being so big, no colour and a lack of a map.

It was the first Metroid I ever played but it never clicked with me the same way the majority of the later games would.

Does that mean I can play this on Henkaku since it is Game maker?

No, the developer would have to make a Vita compatible version using GameMaker tools. It's not something you can setup yourself.

I was wondering why they were being so damn generous with the missiles. Then i ran into that thing and was like 'oh'........

But holy shit does this feel like an official Nintendo project, that got quietly abandoned, then rediscovered by someone who hacked Nintendo's vault.

"we don't care about graphics"

uh huh. Then do this, which takes zero graphics. But no.
