Deep Silver publishing Persona 5, SMT4A, 7th Dragon (& more Sega/Atlus games?) in EU

They need to do a LE that has SMT IV and SMT IV A in it, both on carts. It would be the ultimate apology to SMT and Atlus fans in general.

*I* Didn't really like SMTIV, music was superb though, and I really disliked a lot of the art. The character designs in 4A looks horrible, the monsters as well but some looked good but I still would buy that without thinking twice.

I'm so excited that Persona 5 might come to Europe in a timely fashion! Well, semi-timely.

I wonder if it'll be really soon after the US date? Hope so.

After all this, I'll still keep my amazon.com pre-order for P5 probably because it obviously won't launch around the same time in EU and we probably won't get a collector's edition either.

Not actually that important
Please give us the 3D SEGA Classics collection* then!
To apologize to us SEGA should prompt DS to give us both jpn releases instead of only one like in NA :p

*physical ofc

Even if it takes them a bit longer, I'll still wait for the EU release of P5 and not import the NA one. The situation of Atlus games publishing in Europe isn't going to improve by not buying Atlus games published in Europe.

Nice. SEGA doesn't deserve to be on the cover though

Thanks for the post. I expected to get Apocalypse in September but October is fine.

By the way, what does "herkunft" mean? I know "spiel" means "game", but I don't know the other word.

Country of origin in this case. Like what version it is, since gameware sells German, Austrian and UK versions. With "game" they mean in-game language.

Herkunft means origin. They are selling the german USK version. And it seems like both games are english only, but that is not really a surprise and totally fine for the target audience.

I never expected to get the game localized to different European languages to be honest, but I'm really happy because at least we will get them.

Out of curiosity, for people wanting FIGS - In your experiences do your games normally end up with;

— FIGS translations based on the original JP?
— FIGS translations of English localisation?
— localisations for each individual language/country?

I have basically come to accept that most times we get dual audio and subtitles, the subs are often of the English localisation and not always direct translations of the original language. But I'm grateful to even get that tbh.

Nintendo translates from the japanese source when they do FIGS. If the game is dubbed in english, the translations sometimes go out of wack if you understand english (this happenes with localised joke for the country based on the japanese scritpt most of the time).
I dont mind though, I prefere we have EFIGS, full stop, so my fellow friends have a chance to play a great RPG and undertand it.

Damn, I'm moving at the end of September and hoped to be able to pick up 7th Dragon at least before I left given that it's already out. Fucking region locking.

Looks like I'll have to settle for just DQ7 to take with me.

I won't mind that SMT delay yeah.
The 7th dragon one seemed like a late deal, so not really surprising, but hope we don't get that again.

Don't know if Deep Silver has announced it, because I can't find anything about this news :/. But it looks like Europe also gets the Persona 5 Premium Edition(or a "Premium Edition").

Game Mania(Benelux game store) has the Persona 5 Premium Edition on its system. The price is €89,98 and it's available for pre-order(PS4 version only).

There is no picture or description about the Premium Edition. So there is no answer what the Premium Edition includes. But I guess it's the same edition as the US Premium Edition.

Yeah, probably the typical Tuesday release for US and then Thursday/Friday for Europe.

I'm hopeful this is the case, but we'll wait and see. For what it's worth, they're probably keenly aware that the import market for Persona 5 is going to be big if they don't get it out in a timely fashion, so I guess they're probably working hard at getting a simultaneous release.

Though I still feel they'd be missing a trick by not releasing it on February 14th, regardless of the fact that it's a Tuesday.

Companies making bad decisions is not unheard of. I'm not sure but the announcement for the publishing deal sounded too abrupt which makes me think we won't be near us release date. Fingers crossed I'm proved wrong because I would rather buy locally then import.

Nice. A reliable publisher with a great track record. P4A fiasco would have never happened with Deep Silver.

In Regards to Sega Titles coming to Europe

Stop me if you’ve heard this before:

“We’re working on it.”

It’s an oft-used PR phrase that people have come to see as a general throwaway response. And while I can’t speak for every case, I can at least tell you that when it comes to publishing SEGA Japanese IP games (and ATLUS’!) in Europe, it’s true. We are working on it. Or were, really, since we just inked a deal with Deep Silver to release multiple upcoming titles in Europe. Physical versions.

That means that 7th Dragon III Code: VFD will be coming to European regions as both a physical and digital title, which will be published by Deep Silver for the EU territory.

The next question out of your mouth I’m sure is “but why? You have SEGA Europe, use them!” Yes, we do have a European branch, but they’re very much their own business, and as a business unit, SEGA Europe focuses on our Western IP titles – the titles developed by our Western studios such as Creative Assembly, Relic Entertainment, Sports Interactive and in partnership with studios such as PlaySport Games. With the majority of those titles being released on PC, we’ve seen an evolution of SEGA Europe into a more digitally-centric business over the last few years. For any packaged releases of SEGA Europe Western IPs they already partner with Deep Silver to bring those titles to market in Europe. It made sense to mirror that partnership with the SEGA of America-managed Japanese IP titles which currently have a heavier bias towards physical release. Sega Europe will still be publishing Yakuza 0.

Added bonus – this deal also applies to some upcoming ATLUS titles, so if you’ve been hankering for Persona 5 or Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse, Deep Silver has the EU covered!

We aren’t ready to share release dates for those just yet, but for all our fans in Europe, we can finally say “we worked on it, and now we’ve got an answer for you.”

Haha, that blog post. Hey Sega, your tone seems very pointed right now.
I am glad they got tired of our whining and finally start to take care of the European fans of their games by ACTUALLY FUCKING RELEASING the games here.
I am never shy of a thank you, so thank you Sega, for sorting it out and making a product you are selling available.

Looking forward to the Direct, I hope the October date solidifies instead of dissolving into "Winter 2016" and another year of radio silence.
-SMTIV Flashbacks-

Getting the game in the same year as Japan would certainly be a nice change of pace.
The wait for SMTIV was some serious torture.
