Gotta commend their more than reasonable pricing. 20€ for a game is really good price, and actually makes me think about buying one of them (which is the best?), eventhough I wasn't planning to do so.

DR2 is the most solid one of the three, though I think everyone will agree that DR1 has the highest highs of any game in the series. DR1 also has much more of a horror vibe to it than the sequels, so it sticks out even more.

I'll get DR1 just to run over zombies in the underground parking for a couple hours untli the achievement pops up. It'll be weird not doing it on a 20'' Trinitron CRT this time around, tho.

But think of all the text you'll actually be able to read this time around!

Hopefully someone mods in impossible to read dialog boxes so it'll be just like old times.

Sounds like that would be to my liking, although I recall hearing it had some frustrating gameplay mechanics (timer, or something like that).

All three of these games run on a timer. The only real change 2 and OTR made over DR1 in that regard was placing save points near story boss fights.

Having more than one save slot in DR1 should help some people out, though.

Shame about Case Zero and Case West. I wish they'd do more like Zero. It's a great way to introduce a new protagonist. I had hoped they'd release a few of them with different characters and then a full game with those characters.

Has there been any mentions of whether or not the MP component of DR2 will be included? I loved playing Zombie American Gladiators more than I'd care to admit.

I don't really like the idea of racing against the clock, but I'll have to see if the additional save slots help in making it a less frustrating experience. I assume you can't just run to the boss in the original, like you can in BB/DS3?

No retail for OTR? :( I guess I'll be going digital.. Getting DR for sure though, since I never got the chance to complete it.

And... bought. Dead Rising 1, I mean. I already have DR2.

Really excited to play the original. I was tempted to get it on PS4 for those sweet Trophies... but I decided to play it safe and go with the ol' trusty PC :)

I love Capcom's digital remasters this generation. Solid/Great ports with fair prices.

Well done Capcom.

All dead rising games created by Capcom Japan or Capcom Usa teams?

I've only played part one and it was quite fun but challenging.

If I only wanted to put $20 down, I should get the first one, correct?

Also, really hoping Capcom keeps the remaster train going. I used to be opposed to constantly remastering games, but these prices are too good. Let's hope for DMC3SE and Lost Planet at some point.

So, here's the thing about the first couple of games:

-They are very much sandbox games in the sense that you get a lot of freedom to pursue what you want and how to do it. If you want to focus entirely on the main cases, you absolutely can, but you are going to run into periods where not a whole lot is going to happen between them if you don't .

-There are a lot of side missions to embark on that range from rescuing survivors outright, fighting against Psychos (human bosses) and doing random odd jobs for survivors in the safe room. Totally optional, but it's frequently to your benefit to do these since you'll get a ton of experience for completing them, as well as unlocking a lot of great stuff, like powerful weapon spawns and even shortcuts to get through the grounds much faster.

-These games are also big on the whole "if you can see it, you can get to it" as far as traversal is concerned. It may not always be obvious how, but you can find a lot of great items and weapons if you go off the beaten path more often than not. Every store and attraction is individually modeled, so there's a lot to see and do.

-If you do manage to miss a main case, you'll get a message to pop up that asks if you want to continue on in that playthrough (minus the rest of the story), immediately begin a new game+ that will put you back at the beginning but keeping all of your experience and unlocked abilities, or reloading the last save you made. Personally speaking, I've always felt that the save system in conjunction with the timer gets overstated in terms of how much it adds to the difficulty, but I find it's helpful to go in with the mindset that you aren't going to be able to do everything in one playthrough right away. That comes with experience and practice.

Your boy wasted no time. I bought that shit at work so quickly.

First game was Japan, subsequent ones were not.

It's worth mentioning that Dead Rising 2 still had staff from Capcom Japan working on the game, including the original director (who was also the executive director for DR2).

It seems Capcom Vancouver was almost entirely responsible for Dead Rising 3 though. There's some Capcom Japan staff credited for R&D, but I'm not really sure what that means. Maybe that explains why DR3 went off the rails.

which one is the best in the series according to people?
Also now I'm exited about lost planet 2 :)

First game is highest regarded both from nostalgia and because of it's tight survival based sandbox. DR2/OTR generally make the formula more flexible by adding a combo system where you can tape together certain items, Macgyver style, into new weapons, but some folks dislike the new setting and how the combos become so core that you won't use regular weapons much.

I think they are all fun but DR1 is certainly the best (convict bug aside) for being so pure to the concept.

In for Dead Rising 1 on PS4. Waiting for an Amazon link to pop up so I can preorder. September is gonna kill my wallet.

Damn, 20 bucks for the first one is pretty reasonable, especially since the other two aren't necessary (or coming) on PC. Definitely makes it an instabuy. Really looking forward to finally playing it.

Does any of them have campaign coop?

DR2 and OTR allow you to play co-op, but there aren't any unique models. You'll have two Chucks or two Franks running around, but since they're based on whatever the player has equipped from their own game, it's not as dupey as it might seem.

Or both of them can wear banana hammocks. Do whatever makes you happy!

No Case 0 or West kinda suck. I mean, I know it wasn't much, but you could take a level 5 Chuck from what you achieved in 0 into DR2. Little things like that were cool.

I did never beat Case West, but played it co-op for a couple hours and that was fun too.

Huh? in OTR the co-op player would be Chuck, not a second Frank.

On the PC version of Off the Record, it is 100% Frank and Chuck, but in the original it is two Chuck's.

Was that official? I don't think I played OTR in co-op at all, but I was under the impression that it was double-up Frank and that Case West is thus far the only actual DR that has separate characters for co-op. I could be wrong, though!

But anyway, long story short, you can play 2 and OTR in co-op.

Respect to Capcom for what they do with their remasters. They are usually pretty good ports, they are cheap and they release a cheap retail copy to go with it.

OTR definitely made player 2 Chuck

Pretty good pricing!

In celebration of Dead Rising’s 10th Anniversary, we’re bringing Dead Rising, Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record to a new generation of zombie slayers on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. All games feature Dead Rising’s classic zombie sandbox gameplay will include all DLC costumes and upgraded graphics presented in 1080p at 60 frames per second.

Lovely!

I'm looking forward to returning to Dead Rising 1 on PC, I still have the game on my 360!

Trying to decide if I want to do all digital or go Physical for DR1 and DR2.

My favorite of the bunch was DR2, but if I do that, then I have to wait an extra 2 weeks for it.

I do wonder if there will be a lot of other people playing for matchmaking. When I got around to playing OTR on 360 a couple months after it came out, the online was pretty much dead. lol

CAN'T FUCKING WAIT. Here comes my Halloween games (^_______^)

VERY curious to see if they can get DR2/OTE running at a solid 60. Wasn't it a pretty CPU intensive engine?

Not really, I played dead rising 2 on pc at near 60fps on a Asus laptop from 2008. I think it was a dual core.

I wish all 3 were being released in one physical package for $60. Not sure why that isn't being offered.
