According to our sources, the announcement is planned for August 23rd, with a launch in Belgium, Netherland and UK in the first place, with United States and Canada following one week later

It seems that it would require a compatible controller, such as DS3 or DS4 and a 5mb/s internet connection.

If it required a DS3, does that mean we'll FINALLY get official drivers? (I'm thinking they'd ask for a DS4 specifically as that's the current controller)

As to the actual implementation on PC: If it's just PS3-titles, I don't much care for it, but otherwise that's certainly not the worst idea in the world.

And everyone said Nintendo would be the ones to launch their games as a service on another platform first.

Which ain't gonna happen outside of the separate mobile market, and unlike that daft speculation this is merely a side venture for Sony

Nah, they'll just make it require a DS4 and call it a day.

Certainly not a bad idea, I'd give it a spin just to see how it works.
Limiting this to DS3/DS4 would suck though but I'm sure there'll be a wrapper for Xbox and 3rd party controllers in no time if it turns out to be decent =)

Cool if true. It's a solid service, and I'd love to try PS Now on hardware where I can actually get a solid connection (wired) for once.

I'd take that if I can use a VPN or something. It's not available in Ireland and I want to use my main account to earn the trophies. I can use it fine with my US account but no trophies.

Ummmmm...? PC doesn't have to go through PS Plus stuff then huh? Like buy PS Plus to go online then actually buy PS Now like everybody else?

*insert sony going third party joke here*

This is actually kinda cool. I still don't know that i'd use the service, but being on pc makes it way more flexible since i'm way more likely to transport my laptop than my ps4 or ps3 around.

Hmm, Get pc folk hooked on uncharted and god of war so they will buy PS4?

That could be one side effect, but in reality, increasing the number of platforms you can sell your service on just makes sense. Hell, they could theoretically do it on a phone, no? It's just streaming - just ensure you have a controller that works and you're good.

If I didn't already own a PS4 and virtually every game on the service, I might be more enthused. But it's a telling sign about where consoles are headed and why the PC master race reigns supreme.

PS Now has PS3, PS2 and PS1 titles

EDIT: Whoops, not anymore

About time. Would be the first really major opening up of the service to a potentially large audience. We'll be interesting to see if it scales well, both in terms of demand and infrastructure.

Can you transfer saves from PS3 to PS Now? The list of games isn't very compelling but the instant start is. Will try the trial but if it's not compelling for something like a platformer I doubt I will pay.

I don't understand the significance of this. What will the content/service be?

The significance is that it'd be the first really general opening up of the idea of 'play PlayStation without a PlayStation'.

So far in the beta it's only been available on PlayStation devices and a handful branded Sony and Samsung devices. This would be the first general, generic client, where you can feasibly say that no special hardware is required.

I hope people arent thinking this means that the games will be improved then they are if they're played on a PS3/PS4.

The input lag on this alone kills all my interest in PS NOW.
