Nvidia vsync as usual, and downsampling instead of using the in-game LOD bias-deficient SSAA. Everything seems fine so far. It's been pretty standard PC gaming operating procedure if you ask me. Now, whether the game is worth my time is yet to be determined. :p

If that's really the culprit for all the performance issue well...yeah, i'm astonished too to see a lot of people KO for a broken vsync implementation. Sadly this isn't even the first time, people like bashing instead of understanding what's going on

Ok stuttering is massively reduced with vsync off and framerate cap at max however there is a minor stutter when a scan of an animal is finished and there is some more stuttering when flying around. But it is profoundly better then having vsync on. It's basically totally playable.

Pop in on a ship when flying to a planet looks identical to the PS4 version. It might be better but I don't really notice a difference.

Jesus Christ, why is this forum filled with whiney bitches.

Every other post references "stuttering" or "refund".

Please, grow the fuck up. Do not post if you are repeating the 100 posts prior.

Actually, do not post until you play it yourself. And if your rig isn't good enough, buy a new one. It's your damn fault.

You are in the Perfromance Thread - what do you expect?

People post their experiences and what they are going to do, and people have a back and forth discussion of issues and fixes - which is what this thread is composed of (see our 21:9 discussion)

Updated the OP with the following information, if there is anything else missing or something that might be helpful please let me know ^_^

Tips, Tricks & Tweaks:
* To make changes to Graphics Options you have to hold down the mouse button to confirm. *
- For Stuttering, make sure to disable V-Sync and remove the 30FPS Cap.
- Force Anisotropic Filtering to x16 into your graphics control panel
- Set the game to Borderless Window (might help with alt+tab issues)

Core 2 Quad q9300 at 2.5 GHZ with a GTX 650 Ti - getting 25-30 FPS with an occasional dip below 20 FPS.

1080p, medium/low settings, no AA or AF.

Yeah...I think it's time for a new PC...

Fixed my stutter and getting consistent 16.6ms 60fps at 1080p on my i5 4690k/GTX 970 rig — at least while walking around this first planet. I'll update once I can fly.

In-game settings:
Window Mode: Fullscreen
Monitor: Primary
Resolution: 1920x1080
V-Sync: Off
Anti Aliasing: SSSA x 4
FoV (both): 90
Anisotropic Filtering: 16
Texture Detail: High
Shadow Detail: Medium
Generation Detail: High
Reflection Quality: Low
Max FPS: Max

Nvidia Inspector settings:
Vsync: Force On
Triple Buffering: Enabled
FXAA Usage: Enabled
FXAA: On

With my general 60fps cap in RTSS.

We'll see how it holds up.

Hello Games response:

"Hello!

Thanks so much for getting in touch, and really sorry if you're experiencing problems with No Man's Sky. We've received your email, and where possible, a real human member of our incredibly small team will be in touch to help you out if it's something we're not already working on a patch for.

Hello Games"

Damn this small team excuse goes to shit when you charge full 60 fucking dollars and games doesn't even launch.

So apparently turning vsync off and fps max resolved stuttering issues? Overreaction confirmed?

The port probably still have issues, but not Arkham Knight level.

You can categorise it how you wish, but again the content of the complaint, its legitimacy, has nothing to do with it being whining. Its almost as if words mean things and whining refers to a particular manner of complaining.

How he is saying it is why people are categorising it as whining

Some people just dont like him and if he does not like the game they like they like to say he is whining.

It has nothing to do with pre orders lol, especially not with Steam refunds. GOG has refunds for tech issues too, and those were the two main places it is available.

The pre order line he always goes on about is so boring and might have had a place pre-refunds.

Sorry but it does : by going in totally blind and buying the game without waiting any reports of the quality of a PC port, you're (even in the slightest way) encouraging this bad PC port trend. It's like gamers have short term memory, it's nuts.

And you know that a significant portion of people who pre-ordered will never refund, come on... That's still money man.
I know for a fact (and from direct involved people) those methods do exist. It might seem extreme, or juvenile, or whatnot but not buying so quick on PR promesses is still a way to show and voice your consumer opinion that it's bad business.

I will buy the game, that's a given. ALL I'm saying is it's never a bad idea to wait a bit to see how it runs from people who have access to pre-release versions. That's it.

(PS : the "IT'S THE WORST PC PORT EVA" do seem like hyperboles, those are just noise, there's gotta be a middle ground somewhere.)

Game at least started the first time, didnt run well but look quite good (I think there is an interestring game here) but crashed and locked system when I quit using their in menu option

Since then, game locks up system every time I try to launch it so I have to hold power and reboot the PC

This is the worst PC port I have ever played, I have never had this problem with another game (I've had games crash but that at least let you get back to the desktop)

Then get mad at people for not refunding?

People would just buy on launch day to test perf then refund anyway. It is literally the same now that refunds are here.

Turned off v-sync and FPS cap. Resolves most of he stuttering but I get 2-3 second pauses when flying. Also the game just locked up my pc when I exited it.

Really feeling disappointed. When Hello Games first showed no man's sky it looked like it could be a really immersive PC game. What I ended up buying was a game with terrible 3440x1440 support, awful AA and what looks like last gen resolutions and bad optimization.
I'm stopping for the night with my play clock at 30mins and I'll get my first steam refund next week if nothing is addressed

There might be more to it, but I wouldn't be surprised if some of the "refunds" could've been avoided by disabling vsync in-game and enabling it elsewhere.

Exactly. That sums up my experience with the game so far.
