(RUMOR) New Splinter Cell in development, Michael Ironside returning as Sam Fisher

I had no problem with the new guy, thought he done a good job. This is pretty cool though! Seems a bit odd as he essentially passed the torch in the behind the scenes videos while they were bigging up full body performance.

!!!

Please be true! I tried the series for the first time with Conviction and then Blacklist ended my life.

They are so damn good.

....YES!

I hope it's similar to Chaos Theory, as pure stealth games basically don't exist anymore. I'd take anything though.

Oh man, I hope this is true. I can't wait.

With Watch Dogs 2, South Park 2, Steep, For Honor and Ghost Recon: Wildlands being released between November and March, I would prefer Ubisoft wait until E3 2017. A new Splinter Cell game and the return of Assassin's Creed at next year's E3 would be awesome.

Underrated as a series, undeserved flack with 5 and 6. Ironside, YES!

Please bring back Spies Vs Mercs too.

What I will also add, is please do not punish or hide things for playing lethal or loud. I remember Blacklist did everything it could to not only make you sneaky, hut even non lethal. Even it out.

Yes. Yes. Yes.

I hope it can retain the formula however. Open world wouldn't be the worst if it was like MGSV style, but I'd rather have closed sandbox levels like Dishonored.

Either way: yes.

Having a hard time seeing this as a good thing. Unlike some other franchises that have tried to radically change up their game, Conviction and Blacklist weren't outright bad games. Besides Blacklist being a bit glitchy and having some terribly forced shooty bits it was an okay game. However, it sure as fuck wasn't what I wanted out of a Splinter Cell game. If the next one has things like "Mark and Execute" or "Play the game however you want! It doesn't have to be a stealth game." or insufferably bad writing and characters... they I'll at most give it a rent and probably hate it.

Damn, remember when Ubisoft was actually a really fucking good publisher back during the 6th gen? They came out with games like Chaos Theory, Beyond Good and Evil, and Sands of Time on a pretty regular basis.

Awesome news. I really liked Blacklist but they really messed up going with that new guy to play Sam Fisher. I mean, they could have used mocap on someone else and used Ironsides voice or at the VERY LEAST got someone who sounded older with the deep voice of Ironside. Ubi fucked up that casting but whatever, I can't wait for this.

I hope Sam is the mentor to that black dude Briggs or anyone really also bring back light and sound meters. I need to finish chaos theory

I loved Blacklist, but yeah I'd be even happier if it was more like old-school SC.

Please refresh my brain.

Was Blacklist the one that had the words projected on the scenery?

If so...I didn't mind Blacklist but I really enjoyed the unforgiving and somewhat cumbersome nature of O.G. Splinter Cell.

Hey, it's either gonna be MGSV open world or Ubi open world. Choose one.

Jesus...if I had to choose...I guess MGSV open world.

I'm not particularly hopeful that Ubisoft can do an MGSV open world though. They can program the fuck out of a Ubisoft open world though.

I can't wait for nine millions icons on my map.

Please Lord. Please let this happen. Blacklist was near perfect, but lack of Ironside was a slap in the face to the fans. I need this in my life.

Really, really hope this true. Blacklist just wasn't the same without Ironside.

I sure wouldn't mind if this were a lot like Blacklist gameplay-wise, though I didn't like how many of the optional missions were co-op. You could play them solo, but because of the co-op focus there were no mid-mission checkpoints. Made them much more frustrating than they needed to be.

Unlike the open world of most Ubisoft games, the open world of MGSV did not serve the gameplay nearly as much as it should've, if they had cut out the space between the sandbox base missions ala GZ or Hitman, most people would've been none the wiser. The best Ubisoft games make the best of the space used in the games. That being said, I'd prefer a bunch of hub levels like GZ, not Phantom Pain, for a Splinter Cell title.

Fuck. Fuck. YES. Give me Blacklist X The Phantom Pain (in terms of the huge open areas, drop the rest of that shit) with Ironside and I will never need another game again. Conviction and Blacklist are two of my favorite games of last gen. Can't WAIT for this.

I'll take Ubi then because I like my open world's to be populated and not miles of desert.

I loved the last SC. I honestly wouldn't mind more of that. But obviously would prefer some old SC too.

That was Conviction. It was pretty good and I kinda miss the presentation style of that game so if it's like the last two games with a bit of old Fisher, then that would be great.

The old Splinter Cell games were way easier than the new ones though.

Really? You think?
Conviction didn't stump me like the original ones did. Read...I remember finishing Blacklist on the hardest difficulty and I never beat an old Splinter Cell on normal.

What did you find so difficult about Conviction and Blacklist?

Jesus...so what was Blacklist. Did I even play it? I guess not. o_O

My thoughts exactly. Hoping for a great return to form for the series.
