Loving the "trial version of adobe premier elements" style transitions and cutaways in that trailer, very professional :p

I want to say at least one of their PSM releases had a watermark on assets that made it clear they stole the demo version.

It's bad enough they managed to make it to a 9th game even (Would this actually be 10 considering the PS4 game? Hmm)

They actually did 13 Solbrain "games" on PSM. What a storied franchise.

I really do hope this gets sorted out but it certainly wouldn't be the role of store owners to be checking ownership of assets in a game. If somebody who owns said assets raises an case about it then it's something the can deal with but it makes no sense to to expert a retailer to go through everything submitted to them and comparing every asset, every piece of code, every music track with every other game out there.

It's a ridiculous thing that's happened but the people who have issues and want to raise a case need to lead this. Hopefully people letting Sony know via social media will allow them to act but I I'm not sure what they'd be able to do with third parties letting them know.

I'd still recommend that people did that though. I don't use Twitter but this was from a very quick search, there are probably loads out there and although these people may not be able to help directly or even comment on it, they will hopefully know who to pass the info onto.

So when is Jim Sterling going to start his "Best of PSN" YT series?

In all honesty, this is appalling and Sony should be ashamed that this was ever approved. This is the kind of crap you'd find on the Android store.

I think what we can do is Tweet this thread out to Playstation employees and make them aware of this game.

Lawyers cost money. Despite what people think, lawsuits are not that easy to deal with, and require a commitment and money to do

And it's probably from a clonegame sweatshop in china, copyrighted material does not exist there :p best is to just get the game delisted from PSN as fast as possible.

Of course it's their responsibility when it's this blatant. This game never should have made it on the store for a thousand reasons and the fact that it's still up is ridiculous.

Holy shit, that launch trailer was awful. It was like whoever edited it together thought:

"Those scenes in RPG trailers were the character runs across a vista? Those always look good, let's repeat that throughout the entire trailer!"

It has one of worst trailers ive ever seen when I watched it from ps store. The screen tearing was horrendous.

Based on these brilliant trophy descriptions, I think you might be right.

How exactly do you expect them to check every asset in every game published on the PSN against every asset that's appeared in every game via every other retailer? Seriously, what methods do think they should use to ensure this doesn't happen again? As much as you may like what you say to be the truth, it just isn't.

I certainly didn't recognise the assets from other games and I've never player Ori so if I'd heard the music it wouldn't have meant anything to me when I heard it and that's the same for the vast majority of assets that exist in games. Apart from the absolute tiniest percentage of assets that I may recognise, none of them mean anything to me at all.

To call it blatant is misleading because it would only be blatant if you know those assets are stolen. Until I read this thread I would know about them using assets that weren't theirs.

Has anybody on here confirmed what's happening with this yet in relation to having it removed? Has a formal request been made? Off course the game should be removed for stealing assets and the companies those assets belong to will probably be dealing with that as they should be.

Lol! My friend showed me the gameplay trailer a while back and I laughed my ass off at how bad it looked. Had no idea there was stolen assets as well. Fucking trash. Bloody pathetic.

I want to believe this is being made by some teenager that has zero notion of copyright or something like that, but they have so many goddamn "games" on the iTunes store...

-- EDIT --
Looking again at their "titles", I'm more and more convinced this is all made by a single teenager or otherwise unemployed young person who lives with their parents and is adamant in making games. This crap cannot be profitable at all to sustain the enormous amount of time spent.

The "Chinese sweatshop developer" idea is probably the closest to the truth. It reeks of being made by an underpaid team who work under corrupt management.

Maybe this was a prank by Boyes before he left. "sure. Ill let this hot mess on the platform, Ill be out of here before its out anyway"

But that is a bunch of stolen assets alright. Has a game ever been pulled from PSN for copyright reasons yet? This could be a first for that.

I hate this kind of thing so bad...

BUT...

I am somehow intrigued and totally want the game now. I'm torn! This touches all the things I hate about theft of property so badly it goes to the edge of the ring and meets up with amazing...

Balls. Giant brass balls. They got a massive pair.

Ha, their developer logo at the beginning is a Final Cut Pro X stock asset. Have they paid Apple for a license..? I'm sure apple could check!

Also, those percentages on the trophies are alarmingly uniform. The likelihood of 50% of people exactly getting a trophy suggests a VERY low user base..

That was my first thought, but it's not a common thing in Brazil at all. Unlike in China, there isn't a surplus of developers to exploit this way. Such practices would also get you burned within the (small) local development community pretty quickly. Plus there's nothing on this company on LinkedIn or similar places and their IOS games are released under an individual account, not a corporate one. It's bizarre.

That looked hilariously painful to play. I like how there is absolutely no hit confirmation during combat lol

I love shitty games and this has absolutely no redeeming features whatsoever.

A few choice items:

1) the Options button does nothing. Literally nothing. There's no in game menu. In order to even start a stage over, you have to either die or exit the application and start it over in the PS homescreen.

2) sometimes when pressing the 'special attack' button(s) nothing happens. However the next time you press a normal attack button your special attack may magically show itself, wasting valuable resources at the best possible time.

3) The collision detection is from 1988. Maybe earlier.

I'm also up to SIX copyright claims on the one video now.

edit: woke up to find that my metacritic account has been banned after writing a scathing review. moral of the story - metacritic is trash.
