How will this not be another Unsung Story?

Matsuno is the director, so he's in charge of the development of the project and is actually on site directing the game.

Yoshida is the art director, and the art design is all handled by CyDesignation, which is actually located in Japan, and run by Hideo Minaba.

PlatinumGames is developing the game, and they can actually ship game, and they're not in any danger of going out of business anytime soon.

Those screens look amazing. I'm looking forward to this. Actually, I'm impressed at the direction of mobile gaming going from now on. They're getting better and better.

Screw the mobile games haters, great times ahead.

Who until then had a perfect track record.

I honestly believe they'll do better with this team, I'm just cautious.

It's not about track record, it's about money. Playdek's problem wasn't that they can't make a game, it was that the Kickstarter barely funded, and they overpromised. If you followed the Kickstarter, you will see all the red flags. Indie mobile company promising all this stuff with stretch goals, and then the Kickstarter barely makes the initial goal, and only does because they end up promising that they will deliver many of the stretch goals on the initial level instead. With such poor money management, what could go wrong?!

On the other hand, Cygames is motherfucking loaded.

Wow , i don't know what world i wake up into today but cygames annoncements surely feel nice to the back.

Cautionely optimistic about this

I always wondered if Platinum and Matsuno would ever get together again. Matsuno helped out with the script for MadWorld by writing the general story.

Sounds like the usual Matsuno formula, so it won't be a good tactics game, but it will look and sound pretty and have a neat story. Platinum is probably a minor factor here, creatively speaking.

Yeah, I'm expecting them to be in Star Fox Zero-mode here: throwing in a couple of ideas here and there that get implemented, but largely a workhorse.

Wasting his talents. Roflmao.

Well for a game that probably will end up having a very short life span (and local release) and probably later labelled as one of many gatcha games I don't think he does him great honor. We remember him for Vagrant and fft for a reason.

Well everyone needs money I guess...

I'm pretty sure Granblue Fantasy will be remembered over half the JRPGs on PS4 right now.

Why does Yoshida keep wasting his talents? He should be on Final Fantasy XVI, not mobile games.

Especially Matsuno. At least Yoshida worked on XIV and Bravely series, Matsuno on the other hand seems to only work on mobile games now, and it fucking disappoints me. A man of his video game writing caliber should work on FFXVI, not wasted on some cheap, low budget mobile games. You put guys like Motomu Toriyama on them.

Again, it's not up to those guys if Squenix hires them for a new project. Particularly Matsuno, since he already had a rather messy exit from a mainline FF project, which gives Squenix less than zero enthusiasm to bring him back.

Never heard of the game once. Tells a lot 😂
I'm pretty sure Falk is talking about the Japanese market where it really matters. Neogaf is not really indicative of anything.

But similar effect has happened everywhere in the world. The next generation will not know about the games we played and loved. It is inevitable.

Yeah, unsurprisingly your inability to develop self-awareness about how your personal little bubble relates or doesn't relate to what's out there in the market manifests in this thread.

You could have saved both myself and yourself some replies by googling.

I don't think Matsuno is eager to get heavily involved in a big console game again after how Final Fantasy XII turned out for him.

Square Enix had no problems with him working on the Tactics Ogre remake.
