Can I have a word with them?

How do we make it cheap for maximum profit.

UHD is probably exclusive to Neo. MS doesn't have anything coming out until end of next year so it makes sense for them to do it with the S.

That'd make Xbox One S the cheapest UHD BD player on the market. Would be really weird for Sony to allow that to happen.

Wuuuut, why would they announce a Slim model and then announce a stronger console during the same meeting????

/E3

Because they will both release close to each other?
New redesigned PS4 family, basic model and premium model you know :p

But we still have to see if this particular picture is the real laked deal or not btw.

If this is real, I'm curious as to how it got out into the wild. I mean, ya, it's gonna be in the channel because the reveal is only 2.5 weeks away, but you'd think it would be a little more closely guarded.

So I take it Somy is launching a major expansion on all fronts on the console market? A cheap PS4 slim, a normal costing PS4 and a expensive PS4 Neo. Really interesting to see how sales will be for the rest of the generation!

It makes sense and with only a couple weeks until the PS4k event I'm inclined to believe it. Even if that isn't a real box depicting a real console , it make sense to offer a smaller model that costs less to differentiate between the high end PS4 and the low end ps4 further.

I mean, if you were looking to buy a ps4 say this november and on the shelf you see -
299.99 bundle with game (let's say uncharted 4) , 500 GB normal size PS4
349.99 bundle with game (call of duty maybe) , 1 TB normal size PS4
399.99 PS4K, 1 TB /499.99 2TB

What would you buy ? I mean obviously you'd just get the PS4K right ? Well what if instead -
199.99 PS4 slim , 500 GB
399.99 PS4K , 1 TB

Those were the 2 main options available... well now you're seeing the price double to get the better version of the console so for most - spending 200$ and grabbing 3-4 games is a pretty good deal compared to just having a new PS4.

Only question this still leaves open - where do the normal sized PS4s fit into this pricing wise and my guess would be a 50$ price drop on 500GB bundles and a 75$ price drop of 1 TB models. On that note , whatever quantity of "normal" sized PS4's is left on the shelf right now will be it , by the end of August Sony will probably have 3-5 million of them floating around worldwide for sale so that should last 6 months.

These are interesting times ahead because buying a 4K over a standard model isn't quite the set in stone "must have" update for everyone. It's going to be positioned as something for those with 4K tvs to possibly purchase (although it's been exemplified that it's not strong enough to run at 4K for modern games) but ultimately - it's not a generational leap forward. So, IF the slim model is half the price there's a good case to be made that it will be good enough for most for 2-3 years. For those of us that bought a ps4 at launch and were never quite happy with it's performance level well, here's an upgrade for a premium price.

When the PS3 Slim box leaked, everybody thought it was a fake but turned out to be real

Ok at the event The PS4 slim will be announced with a release date for the end of this year and then they will talk about the Neo and how much power it's going to get with a release date of either the middle of 2017 or in the fall with devs talking about power and stuff - my predictions

I'm not seeing how it is any uglier than the regular one. Actually, it being smaller would make it better looking by default IMO.

Whatever this PS4 Slim it's real or not, those people calling the original PS3 and the first PS3 Slim ugly (to counter that "too ugly to be real" post) are out of you goddamn minds, those two are beautiful. The Super Slim tho, now that was ugly!

I love it. the vanilla ps4 had this blocky rhombus thing going on. this one is much thinner so the angles don't make it look as awful.

Between that disgusting cliff in the back, ambiguous touch power/eject buttons, and that weird antenna line-looking recess that they thought would be a great idea to put all around the console, I wasn't a fan. Havent seen the buttons or the back of this unit, but that recess looks even wider and more disgusting in the front box pictures. I'd have to tuck this behind a media center drawer like I did it's big brother.

I really hope that's fake because it's ugly as hell.

The normal ps4 is so nice too. I refuse to believe they'd let Microsoft win in design for slims.
