That's also a possibility. I mean it just says PS4 on the box.

At the event with the Neo reveal this could be positioned just as a cheaper PS4 for people willing to jump in. Neo will be positioned as a premium console. Probably the same sort of design just with more trimmings and clearly more power.

It'll probably be in stores, available the same week as the Playstation Meeting, where Slim is confirmed and Neo is unveiled.

PS4 price cut on OG and slim from $349 to $299. PS4 Neo $399. Wouldn't doubt it.

Dumb conspiracy theory:

Sony replaces the original PS4 with this slim model that nobody wants. Sneaky way to get everyone to go out a buy a Neo who was on the fence. Brilliant!

If Japan retail is any indication, they are stopping OG PS4 shipments (as we had expectations of potential shortages). This would explain that news from a few weeks back, and the OG is being retired for this.

Like the PS3 'slim' - it wasn't officially marketed as such, just as a new model, somewhat smaller, cooler, quieter, cheaper.

It's mainly just flatter and a bit less wide, but yeah the footprint doesn't appear much smaller than the current PS4.

Like i said in the beginning the original PS4 is already too small, they won't be able to significantly make it smaller due to the hardware

Looks solid, though I may opt for the PS4 Neo (assuming that I have the cash) for the performance benefits.

That said, if this is coming this holiday & supports 4K Blu-Ray (the latter of which I hope is the case), we may not see the PS4 Neo until 2017.

NX is almost certainly not in production yet.

Well the timing is from a couple of months ago and at the time Nintendo said they were about to start production on it, so it "could" lineup if they hadn't started yet.

But again, we haven't heard anything about a new Sony handheld, so if one was coming (and not in a Vita revision way) we'd have heard about it by now.

this is just a smaller ps4, its there to go hand in hand with the Neo. The Neo is so far down the road to release that it is not coming next year. The situations aren't even remotely similar

It doesn't have a fan? I couldn't open my PS4 this summer because of the heat which made the fan run so fast that the noise was louder than the game itself. And this one doesn't even have a fan.

I hope Sony will add more fans to the PS4 Neo and not ommit it completely.
