New users being force to aside, why would an existing XB1 owner "upgrade" to the slim if there's no real advantage to it over the OR? 360 Slim was thinner(much) and had less DRE issues.

360 SLIM was slick, allowed more memory etc.

XB1 Slim has...............???

Of course, it'll sell to the new guys like hot pancakes.

XB1 Slim doesn't ship with a GameCube as a Power Brick. It also has 4K support for movies (I think).

Internal power brick, UHD support if you have a 4K tv, and a very slight bump in performance in games. Red Dead Redemption on the S actually holds performance better than the base Xbox One, it has been great.

Edit: God dammit

Our thread... we created this for the greater good. Haha leave them to it. Neogaf and this thread and Marmo should be credited at least. He's the original box leakers for crying out loud.

"The seller provided to Polygon these unboxed images of the new PS4. The unit appears thinner and its edges are rounded, unlike the squared-off corners of the original design."

That could be true... at least Jason at Kotaku linked to this thread in the first sentence of his article.

I don't think Sony expects that many people will be "upgrading" to the slim.

The Neo is the upgrade, the slim is a new standard and a cheap entry point.

People around here have a hard time understanding when they are not the target market for something. Look at any thread with Greatest Hits boxart.

That shit is fucking ugly ! Since when did Sony design ugly hardware ?

Real as expected then.

It seems UAE area gets a fair bit of leakage. Early games etc. If this has found it's way to the UK, are the channelling SCEE through central shipping areas?

Perhaps like shipping vanilla consoles to be encased in the right outer box and stuff with the right leaflets inside, latest FW etc.

Must be stolen goods if it is a console intended for the Middle East.

Not this big.

Business as usual with PS Slims. Since PS3 at least.

True, though the circumstances surrounding PS3 meant you could at least sympathise with the evident cost cutting, even the smaller things like the removal of the little iconic rotatable coloured PS Logo, and Chrome disc drive from the PS3 Fat (the 40GB and 80GB models no longer had the chrome trim but a plastic finish).

I guess investors need to be pleased. Nintendo cheapened up the Wii with a version that didn't stand vertically and had no GC ports because of the strengthening Yen, for example. But it's still a shame that we no longer have an industrial design to truly appreciate.

Neo being a "high-end PS4" should mean something more special at least!

It doesn't look good compared to the OG. What's with the placement of the buttons? It would've been so much better if the buttons were front facing and the box was more symmetrical (like the OG).

That said, I'm totally cool with this "slim" model if it means that Sony is launching this soon and going back to the drawing board for a > 5TF Neo in 2017.

UHD playback and.... Oh you are just playing copy pasta.

The XB1 had much to be improved upon compared to the PS4, though I like the One S more but I think it also has something to do with the XB1 being disappointing

People here always seem to make that mistake. This redesign probably has the benefits of a slim though. Quieter, less power etc. But Neo is the upgrade.

This is the new, cheaper and standard PS4.

Well if it's going to be like $200-250 and Neo Sony is going to kill it this Holiday season.

dude DUDE.

Imagine if they sell this thing for 199 cause of lack of UHD BR.

NEO is gonna be their big 4K push i guess, and this thing of for significantly slimming down the components of the OG PS4 for major cost savings?

Looks alright I guess, though I wonder even more how the Neo will look. And if this is releasing soon, could we also expect the Neo to launch this year as well as had previously indicated? Or could that plan have changed?

Still team fake on this one.

NX leak burned ya'll good huh?

This is real. It's a cut-price, cookie-cutter revision to sell to masses at a cheap price and with cheap production values for more profit. People who are claiming it is ugly and that there is no reason to buy one are missing the point entirely. Sony doesn't want current PS4 owners to buy this. They want them to buy a Neo.

This model are for those people who consider the Apple TV enough games console for them. It's the exact opposite of what Microsoft is trying to do, which is win back the hardcore they lost to PS4.

Anyone who doesn't see the potential to sell this especially with PSVR is a moron. Simple.

This is the beginning of Sony's attempt to regain the PlayStation casual market. The Neo is for the hardcore.
