Destiny |OT41| Don't Worry, Leave Happy

): condolences to his family and DGAF members that were truly close with him. This hits me hard. I can't imagine how hard this is on his regular crew, you guys were as good as friends as I've ever seen in gaming.

If anyone is helping his family monetarily let me know through PM and I'll bet happy to chip in.

Btw, make sure flowers is what the family wants, they (and Driz) may prefer a donation, etc.

I'm tempted to return to Destiny when the last DLC hits in honor of Drizz. Wanna play with some old friends again. Still pretty sad about it.

Much appreciation and thanks to Drizzay and Deku for the Skolas run. I hate to put a further burden on him, but if you need to beat that guy, run it with him. He took something that seemed nearly impossible for me a week ago and made it downright trivial. Just follow his lead and you'll stay alive. His calm will keep you calm. And before you know it, Skolas'll be dead and it won't have hit you until you're in the treasure room.

70+ Skolas runs. Way to cement a legacy in the DGaf community, fella.
Thanks for the kind words and congrats on the great run! Could not have been smoother. Whenever I start feeling burned out on Skolas runs, I do another run and have so much fun playing with the people that I remember why I keep doing them.

Thanks again for all the help, fella. R.I.P.
I'm coming back today, I feel today is better than ever to make my comeback to Destiny.

Who's the head of third-party relations now that Adam Boyes is gone?

I would love for Sony to sponsor something for DrDrizzay. Maybe start a Twitter campaign.

Unless we hear from Bungie that they will plan on doing something for him.

First, we need to set up a Paypal to send a ridiculous set of flowers to his family on Wednesday.

I could volunteer for that if no one else feels they'd be better.

Yes. ASAP.

I don´t have PayPal. Is there another way to get cash to you?

Jesus this guy was a machine.

The sheer amount of people who have a similar story of Drizzay helping them out is kind of mind boggling (in an awesome way).

How about a gofundme or paypal account set up so we can contribute, if we’re interested? If someone in contact with his family could make this happen, that would be appreciated.

I still remember when Drizz told me how he was on break from med school and he had a lot of free time so he spent most of it playing Destiny. He had a pretty free schedule. Of course, this was 2 years ago during the first year of Destiny.

I could use my personal Paypal account for the flowers only, if people don't mind. You can PM me and I'll give you the e-mail address. Does anyone have any ideas for people without Paypal?

Gofundme accepts other forms of payments so maybe that would be better to use?

This is 777% Drizz, he's just wearing my name because he's a stand up individual who liked helping others anytime he could.

I didn't have to send money via PayPal, I didn't have to watch/like/subscribe to his YouTube/Twitch channel, I just had to ask & he was more than happy to put his incredible skills to work for me. In a day and time where most people are only concerned with themselves & with Destiny attracting the "elitist" types it does, Dr. Drizzay was literally 1 of a kind in every sense of the word.

Thanks for the Y2 emblem bud. Before, I was "ashamed" to wear it because I clearly didn't earn it. Now, I'll wear it with pride because it's the only link you & I had together.

Guys, please don't forget if you have videos that include DD's voice, please pm me the links?

Allen's wife Lauren is looking for as many as she can find. I'll forward her the links.

Much love DGAF

Did you get the YouTube links from a page ago?

I wanted to share one example of the many selfless Drizzay acts with everyone here. Drizz once helped my "less than capable" friend Madvaz through Skolas for his year 1 triumph. At the time, Drizz was aware I had already completed this so the majority of this video is him explaining to Madvaz in detail what to do. I had streamed this LIVE Last year to a few mutual friends of Mad and I so naturally you'll see some butt and crotch shots at the beginning of the vid while the Doc drops some knowlege to him. Don't let that distract from what I thought was disappointing at the time..... Only capturing Drizzays audio for the majority of the stream.

Enjoy.

So I've just come back to Destiny after not bothering with the DLC when it came out. Currently 297 Light and not really sure what I'm meant to be doing to gear up now as what I've been doing up to now (heroic strikes, crucibles and dailies) doesn't seem to be getting me any better gear but I'm not good enough for the 320 Light stuff yet. Any tips?

Also, should I join Destiny Gaf Clan? I'm from the UK so I'm not sure if you're active in my timezone. My old clan is very much dead with just and one friend still playing.

P.S My condolences on the loss of Drizzay to everyone who knew him :( I obviously I didn't know him but the amount of posts about him that I've read show he must have been something special.

I don't think anyone groups up from the clan. You'll have better luck posting here or in Discord

This picture should give you an idea of what to do, or where to start.

Strikes/crucible are a good source to get you around 310, from there you can do basically anything in the game. The down side is the rewards are RNG, so there's no definite way to get what you want other than to play the game.

Crucible/Fraction rank up packages will also met you with gear/guns higher than your current LL.

Make sure to equip your highest LL gear before you turn anything in as most rewards drop according to your LL.

EDIT - don't worry too much on LL requirements, they aren't very accurate at this point. I remember being dragged through CoE at level 308 for the first time, and I'm pretty sure it's recommended level is at least 320, maybe 330. If there's something you specifically want to do, let us know & we can get you there :). Are you on PS4, or XB1?

I was part of Drizz's Neogaf Around the World clan, a free clan that he set up so that everyone who needed the clan trophies could get them. Back then, Drizz himself would wear the NGAW clan tag and even though he didn't know who I was, it felt great (greatness by association).

The very first time I got to play with Drizz was him taking me and a bunch of first timers through King's Fall, but how I will remember Drizz best would forever be in Trials. Every weekend I would run with Trout, and on the rare occasion that we managed to catch Drizz he would not turn us down, even though we all knew neither me nor Trout were the best players. Drizz was so passionate and such an incredibly skilled player, I was always honored to have him try to teach us some Trials (usually in vain).

"Once they have one man down, you gotta rush them! Throw your bodies at them!", Drizz would always say. Most of the time me and Trout were literally doing that, and Drizz would tried his damned best to keep us alive. I was always afraid of letting him down, a double carry was no easy task even for someone as skilled as he was, and he would always encourage us, "I know you can do better than that!".

I can't remember all the runs with him that I managed to take part in, and try as I might, I don't have a screenshot with Drizz in it even though I am very sure he succeeding in taking us to the lighthouse at least once or twice. However I do remember he did join me and Trout the first time Anomaly came up for Trials, as well as this game on Memento.

Blow by blow recap:
1) Drizz being Drizz makes an early kill.
2) As usual, me and Trout are dicking around on some other part of the map and Drizz gets sandwiched between the dude he just killed and the person who revived him, and loses the 2v1, even though it was a trade.
3) I chase down one dude and it quickly becomes "Last Guardian Standing".
4) I am pretty damn sure Drizz pleading to me to revive him, but because I value kills over revives, I don't hear a damn thing. Also I am shitting my pants at this point.
5) I manage to kill 2 guys and I finally hear Drizz say "Come get me! Come get me! Come get....oh no no the last guy is on me!"
6) I think "Fuck me. Might as well throw out a tripmine, hope for the stick and at least a trade."
7) Some how I don't die, and I manage to revive Drizz and take the round.

I tried to look up my message history today to see what was the last thing I talked to Drizz about over PSN, or if he had sent me any screenshots from a time when he carried me to the lighthouse. PSN being PSN had wiped out the message history. The last time I played with him was in Jan this year, when the raid reset crew was missing 1 person and I was the only one around. Even then, I had let him down, I did not have enough time on my hands to complete a full raid.

I stopped posting in here a while back because I got burned out with Destiny, and it only seems fitting that I come back because of Drizz. Miss you man. You're in a better place now.

It's still so very fresh for all of us, but as you said, the service is on Wednesday, and I know of the desire to start something soon. That being said; Allen's wife reached out to us, requesting us to inform others that he played with. She didn't need to do this, but she did. I can't begin to comprehend how hard that must of been. She's incredibly brave.

Now, I truly understand the desire to do something...-Anything, to help... Anything... to make it better. Anything that'll make it hurt just a little less. Anything. Trust me, I get it. I promise that time will come. Today is not that time.

Please, let's give his family time to mourn.

Thank you.

My first flawless thanks to Drizz and Igor. It was an awesome experience and I got the honors of being the first carry without a mercy burned. He helped with Skolas as well and that alone inspire me to help sherpa some close friends through the end content. The least I can do is help in future sherpa efforts in the years to come. Thanks for everything you did for our little slice of the Destiny Universe.

I'm with Unstable. While a sea of flowers does seem like a nice gesture, we don't know Drizz' family and how they'd react. It might just exacerbate their grief.
Maybe the guys that are in contact with the family can offer them our "help" (funeral costs, donation in Allen's name to a good cause etc.)?

why don't we setup a crazy DGAF stream.

We could Carry people in raids, trials and help get year two triumphs on stream

setup a donations page to help benefit the family and maybe a cause as well?

What do you guys think?

I would love to, but I'm an Xbox player:(

I mean, I'll be happy to donate, but would love to be a part of something like that as well.

Thank you for putting this together. I only wish for everyone to take a little time. It's barely been a day. But, everyone grieves differently. It's not my place to say to say otherwise.

So, once again, thank you for putting this together.

I wanted to put some distance between hearing the news and actually posting my thoughts because I wanted to give everyone, myself included, time to process what has happened. I have a bit of a crazy week this week and this will probably be one of the few times in the next couple of days that I'll be able to actually sit down and organize everything I'm feeling into words.

I'm not a pillar of this community by any means, and I don't pretend to be, but I wanted to share not just how I feel about Drizz and how much I already miss him, but what I'm going to try and do with these feelings.

My only interactions with Drizz were online. Through GAF, through Destiny, through Discord, through Twitch chat. I didn't know anything about his personal life and he didn't know anything about mine. I didn't even know his name until yesterday. But through his actions, his words, and his attitude, he quickly became one of the kindest, most positive, and most selfless people I have ever met in my life. He would go to such a ridiculous degree to help people accomplish things in Destiny that they never would have been able to otherwise. Late hours, long hours, tough Trials runs, and even signing on to other people's accounts to help them clear content.

The fact is, the things Drizz did to help this community were immense, but it was even more impressive to watch the way he did them. He was an absolute bastion of positivity. He was patient with new players, direct but constructive with intermediate players, and always did his best to stay positive. When discussion in this thread or elsewhere turned venomous, with sarcastic criticisms toward the game, or Bungie, or even each other, it was Drizz that tried to steer the discussion back to a productive one. When someone really wanted to clear a certain piece of content or really wanted to go to Mercury and couldn't find anyone to help them, it was Drizz who would step in. He never did it for attention. He never did it for recognition. He never did it for money. He did it because he genuinely wanted to help people.

This is a time of mourning for all of us. Savor it. Process it. Don't rush it. Trust me, no good comes from trying to bottle these feelings.

But at some point we will have to pick ourselves up and move forward. I can't speak for anyone else about when that is or what to do when it happens. For me, when that time comes, I want to do everything I can to honor Drizz's memory. I want to be more helpful and attentive like Drizz was. I want to be more patient and kind like Drizz was. I want to be a positive force in this community. I will do my best to support this community so that, if by chance, Drizz is out there somewhere watching us, he doesn't have to worry. Requests for help won't go unanswered. Negativity won't spiral out of control and poison our discussions.

DestinyGAF is the most amazing community I've ever been a part of. Drizz was a huge part of that. No single person can possibly replace him. But DestinyGAF is what we make of it. Each of us plays a part. If we all follow his example, we can continue to carry on the legacy he built. We can continue to make DGAF one of the best gaming communities anywhere. I'm going to do my best to make that happen. I hope you all will too.

Thank you for this. Depending on how much is raised, I'm sure it can go further than the flowers for them. I understand it's a sensitive subject, but if his family hasn't declined donations, I think we're doing the right thing.

I see this as my last chance to contribute.

Wow that was a shock to read about DrDrizzay101 on twitter, clearly a lovely person though I only knew him from this thread it was always fun to read his posts about the latest runs he'd organised or took part in. RIP

I will be playing IB off and on all day today... If anyone wants to group up or have a slot filled in an existing group feel free to shoot me a message.

What's it like taking down Atheon/Crota/Skolas these days?

Do the 335 weapons bring them down way faster? Do we take less damage from them or is it about the same?

:'(

Really struck a chord.

I didn't imagine it would go so high so quickly, but funerals are expensive, and after reasonable flowers are picked, I will give the difference to his wife. I'll need your help or Grave's help for a way to get it to them, Stabie.

Drizz was one in a million. A leader who everyone respected, while at the same time being genuinely humble.

When the apostle Paul talks about love in first Corinthians, he could just as well have been talking about our Doc.

Drizzay was patient & kind. He didn't envy, He didn't boast, and he wasn't arrogant or rude. He wasn't self-seeking. He wasn't easily angered, and he kept no record of wrongs. DrDrizzay always protected, always trusted, always hoped, always persevered.

Drizzay never fails.
