What I meant was although she is
miles
better than Trump
But you literally wrote "she's not much better"

So she's not much better, but she's "miles" better?

And we recognize that. The problem is the deluge of arrogant, condescending "us over here in Europe" style posts that pretend racism and xenophobia aren't currently huge issues there as well.

Edit:

We caught a live one:

Fair enough, I totally agree with that. I grew up in France. The number of time I heard things along the lines of "them Arabs, aye?" (not even counting outwardly racist shit)... It just makes it impossible for me to take anyone that acts like there's no racism in Europe seriously.

But you literally wrote "she's not much better"

So she's not much better, but she's "miles" better?

wind_vein_turn_md_wht.gif

To play the devils' advocate, the two are not mutually exclusive. Trump's been digging so much he's getting close to the earth's core at this point, so you can be miles better yet still be shit proportionally :p

Having said that, I don't agree with it. Hillary is a fuckton better and I think she'll make at least a decent president.

Trump lies with every sentence, just fyi.

I know he does, but is that who you want to compare your next president with?We all know that Trump is scum and he'd do anything to get a few more votes.
Anyway,I have no horse in this race and it wasn't my intention to piss anyone off,so I'm out.

I love how this long speech doesn't even scratch the surface of the bullshit in the official republican party program.

It just blows my mind how depressing it is that so many Americans think like this.

Hillary fighting the good fight, there.

One good thing for the doxxers is that once she is president, they will already know where she lives, also what her job is. So, you know, everybody wins.

That will be the second debate.

That's usually the town hall, which should be pretty amenable for Trump.

The debate that Trump should 100% absolutely just skip is the foreign policy debate. His positions are untenable, even inexplicable and Hillary has a Obama/George H.W. Bush blended outlook with deep expertise that he can't hope to compete with.

Better to not go to that debate, seriously.

Hanging Trump on the conservative party will not kill the conservative party. A conservative party will always exist because a good portion of our population holds conservatives values. Thinking otherwise is just a fantasy.

If Hilary wants to get something done during her presidency she will need Republicans to be less obstructionist than they have been under Obama. Trump has revealed fractures within the Republican party and its base that actually make this more likely - specifically that a good portion of the Republican base actually favors populist economic policies instead of free-market capitalism.

To co-opt or hold off future nativist populists, the Republican party is going to have to make some changes. This is where throwing Republicans a lifeline makes a lot of sense. People are more likely to work with you if you give them a way out of shitty situation instead of shit on their indentity and dignity.

And, in the end, that is what is important. Getting things done is more important than making yourself feel good by really laying into someone. Will it work? Who knows, but the benefits outweigh the alternative.

That article is a good indication of what a first step might look like in a Clinton presidency. Paul Ryan - basically an economic libertarian - is receptive towards a bill that fights poverty with money. He and the Republican party are receptive because they now realize that their base doesnt give two shits about economic libertarianism. They voted Republican because of conservative social values and white identity politics. That has them scared. Why make it harder to get things done by shitting on them?

Moreover, you are also shitting on people who identify themselves as Republican. Give them an out so they can tell themselves that the Republican party abandoned them. They didn't abandon the Republican party. If you say the Republican party was always shit, then that has a lot less of a chance of happening.

Also, Republicans didn't tank the economy.

Good post, but the bold.

If Republicans didn't tank the economy, who did?

I don't think that classes as a takedown.

That was more "I'm tired of listing to your shit, hurry up".
No, Obama knew exactly where Romney was going with it. Mittens had been dancing around that statement for weeks and when he started in on it with the debate Obama reeled him in with "Please proceed, Governor" as him basically saying "your neck is in the noose now motherfucker, watch me pull this here leaver".

It was the single most well executed, visceral debate takedown in recent politics. Biden's can you believe this guy face was showmanship but Bams basically handed Romney a shovel, got him digging where he wanted, then tapped him on the shoulder to point out it was R-money's own grave he just dug.

Everyone. The world before 2008 was a magical era where both the left and the right joined hands and said "let's allow the financial institutions do whatever they want and let's never ever talk about inequality ever again."

Mainstream GOP is the party that invaded Iraq, destroyed the economy, continues to enforce policies EXTREMELY harmful to lgbtq and women, and tried to block Obama on every good policy he put forward. The AltRight/Trump have done nothing in comparison to the harms of mainstream conservatism. This was a stupid speech and an unnecessary pivot to appease people who will not help her once she is in office. America doesnt need a conservative party and she should be hanging trump on them

I've been a liberal as long as I've been into politics, but a socially liberal but fiscally conservative party is absolutely necessary to keep things in balance. Of course, that works better outside of a two party system, where consensus is often needed.

The alt right is just fucking nuts, though, and the Republicans have willingly let them take over. The Republican party needs to die, so something more sensible can take its place.

Wall St, Mortgage lenders, Ratings agencies, etc.

Both democrats and republicans were on board the deregulation train. You can't blame one and excuse the other. It doesnt make a lot of sense.

Moreover, deregulation only created the environment where something like this could happen. Wall St, Mortgage lenders, and Ratings agencies, etc. actually had to go out and do it.

How does throwing "sensible" Republicans a rhetorical life raft not undermine the cause of electing a Democratic house and Senate, though?

This is hardly just a leftist critique, I should note - the DNC email leaks reveal that there's been vigorous debate within the party about this very issue.

Video has more dislikes than likes. I've heard that means Trump will win.

Seriously though is there like a cyber war room of Trump supporters disliking every single Hillary video? I don't see this on Trump side but it is like every Hillary video quickly gets bombarded with dislikes.

Yes and Trump is alt right.

That's literally her point.

DrForester is saying that the Alt-Right is no different than the Right.

He's right in that the Alt-Right are the same as voters on the Right in beliefs on race, sex, gender, and equality.

Where I disagree is how that is vocalized. Politicians on the right would throw some hints toward their voters but wouldn't be overt with expressing their views. The Alt-Right has no desire to mask their beliefs.

Ahhhh.

Yeah I agree with you.

I watched the speech properly when I got home. Fantastic, powerful, undeniable.

I voted for Bernie and I was more in favor of his policies, and I was plenty cynical about Hillary. But everything I've seen about Hillary's speeches and campaign since the DNC has been genuinely inspiring and just makes a whole lot of sense.

they have bots on reddit that upvote /r/the_douchenozzle posts.

That was magnificent political theater. Trump has been defined and this speech was the crowning glory to it all. Hillary played the 2016 Summer Presidential Political game well.

Why would it undermine it?

A lot of Republican senators and house republicans haven't repudiated Trump. In fact, many have endorsed him. The democrats who are running against them can then use that to tie those candidates to Trump.

Throwing republican voters a lifeline and saying that it was not racist to vote Republican in the past, but that Trump is hijiacking the party with his racist shit gives them an out to get out of the Republican party while still preserving their dignity. If you attack the republican party and labeling them as racist you are also attacking republican voters and labeling them as racist. That is not a strategy to win over converts. Sure, it might convert a few who see the light, but a far more effective strategy is to throw them a lifeline and make it easier on them. Shitting on people and insulting them just causes people to entrench and defend themselves.

Moreover, giving these people a way out will likely intensify their disgust of Trump and they will not like anyone who supports him because they have then accepted a new political narrative and identity.

The Republican leadership is currently wondering just what the fuck they're going to do between now and 2020.

Watched the speech, and you know.. people are talking. They're saying that Hillary is the one who emb.. holds the different right, the alternate right. I don't know. A lot of people are talking.

That's what I'm getting it.

Said it before, but if the only difference is that the dog whistle is replaced with a bullhorn, then there's no meaningful difference.

old school Republicans who ragged against the Iron Curtain and the Soviet Union should categorically reject Trump's embrace of Putin and Russia' oligarchy

it is shocking that some RINOs are allowing Trump to maligned our longstanding alliances to tade it away by cozzying up with Putin.

Hillary is completely right about the Alt-Right, the Far-Right in Europe, Farage, RT News, Trump, Putin.

Putin has manipulated Far-Right and Far-Left parties in Europe to break appart the EU and weaken NATO. Farage was a tool and the UK got suckered into Brexit. Trump is another tool and a fool.

Level headed people in the Center, Cente-Left and Center-Right need to ensure that the US, Canada, Europe, and our NATO allies remain in an alliance sphere secured and defended against Putin's desire for expansionism.

Trump recognizing Crimea is to be worried about.
