"B-b-but Suicide Squad!1!1 a-and Batman Vs Superman are the worst things to happen to Cinema! Marvel doesn't have to be perfect! It's okay if it's generic tripe!" Lmao
I like Marvel movies but some of you go ridiculous lengths to shit on what you don't like and praise what you do even if it sucks and Thor 2 is a great example.

Co-sign.

Even though I did like Thor 2 more than Thor 1, but that's not saying much.

You know, I generally think Thor: The Dark World is pretty bad. Its boring, nothing of note happens, all is right with the world by the end (our world, fuck Asgard, who cares?).

But at least it is watchable which is more than I can say for Iron Man 3 and The Dark Knight Rises.

I find Thor 2 pretty boring now that I think about it. I think I went into the movie theater and shut my mind down when watching it as the only thing i remember is the hammer scenes. Iron man 2 at least had RDJ in it which is something I guess. Need to see suicide squad to see if its worse. Yeah I can say that Thor 2 is the worst marvel movie out of all the marvel movies I've seen so far.

Meh I get why Thor 2 might get shit but I really didn't mind it at all.

Loki is also one of the best if not the best MCU character to date which helps.

How was he even a threat?

Can't Iron Man fly? Can't he just hover from a safe distance and unload?

Dude made an arc reactor in a room with detailed blueprints.

It's good for everyone involved he's too stupid to just build an Iron Man suit because dude was drunk and made functioning tech.

It's trash complete unmitigated trash one of the worse comic book films I've seen, I'd put it on the level of Catwoman but that film defies reality in terms of it's awfulness. I barely managed to pay attention to the plot while watching it. What I can remember is either bad or a poisoned chalice.

Probably the single worst superhero movie I have ever seen, the combination of this and Thor 1 is lethal and should be considered a form of euthanasia.

Doc: "How do you want your death?"
Patient: "Just Thor the dark world my shit up".

"That's the arc reactor done. Now for the suit. Awh fuck it, I'll just build some straps, attach some whips to it and call it a day. I want my bird."

Thor 2 was bad, but I found it mildly amusing. If anything, my biggest gripe was how unfunny and annoying Kat Dennings was.

Also, lol at the ad in the GAF image in the OP.

Superhero movies are way overrated and Thor 2 is so bland and generic, it makes me gag. Actually, Thor 2 isn't a superhero movie, it's an action movie along with most "superhero" movies these days but it's so derivative, it's extra shit.

I agree. Most Marvel movies and DC films are complete garbage not worth being put onto transparencies. Marvel still has more "watchable films" and less "complete and utter shit" though.

The most interesting thing about Thor 2 is that it is actually better than Thor 1, but people were still in full denial mode during that one.

There's not that much else interesting about it. The dimensional jumping was visually novel I guess.

I enjoyed it, it could have been much better but it was still entertaining, I don't think it does anything really wrong, just that it lends itself to be a forgettable movie because it lacks strong points.

And I will always love Asgard depiction in both movies.

This was the movie that made me realize I didn't need to see every super hero movie in theaters. I've still never seen it. The more people talk about how awful it is, the more I want to see it, actually. I can't imagine it being worse than the first Captain America. I believe it. But, I can't imagine it.

Thor had the logic to play to Hemsworth's comic timing and charm. Thor 2 stripping that away was beyond idiotic.

I remember reading an article a few weeks after the release of the first Thor film that talked about how much more thematically appropriate the ending for that film would have been if Thor had ended up trapped on Earth when the rainbow bridge was destroyed as opposed to being trapped on Asgard. It would have felt like a much more fitting conclusion, with Thor coming to embrace his new life on Earth, realizing that he didn't really want the throne on Asgard anyway and making a conscious choice to become Earth's latest protector.

That way not only would Marvel have to work out endlessly nonsensical ways to bring Thor back to Earth with each new appearance (which they did less than a year later when Thor zipped randomly back to Earth in time for The Avengers), but the Thor franchise in general could have been a bit more grounded in reality, with Thor forming a more meaningful relationship with Jane as he's stranded on Earth, whilst also having to slowly adjust to life as a mortal by taking up the identity of Donald Blake. Of course, for the sequels he could come back to Asgard to battle his fair share of space monsters, but Thor's film series would be much more strongly rooted on Earth, offering a greater opportunity for more introspective character development in balance with all the exterior sci-fi shenanigans.

It's amazing how much the entire franchise was impacted by that one tiny narrative decision at the end of the first Thor film. It's such a shame the Thor series in general ended up becoming so painfully forgettable. Out of all of Marvel's franchises, the world of Thor by far had the most potential to offer audiences something fresh and interesting to its audience through the eyes of that character.

TBF the vast majority of marvels films are grounded in Earth, there wasn't a great need to add another and you get even further into the superhero bloat of where the fuck all the other heroes were where this shit went down. There's nothing inherently wrong with basing it in asgardian fantasy they just implemented it awfully.

You can absolutely have the films embrace the Asgardian/fantasy elements which makes the Thor universe so unique, but at the same time, you still need to ground your story in some kind of reality...otherwise you often just create a story that becomes messy and incoherent, which is what Dark World ultimately ended up becoming. I think having Thor based in Earth would have been a good way to ground the character a little, in addition to make the Thor/Jane relationship a lot more engaging and generally easier to swallow.

And let's not forget that both Thor films are largely set on Earth anyway. In my opinion, following a Thor who lives on Earth often going into space to fight monsters would have worked a lot better narratively for the inevitably sequel than having Thor on Asgard who magically finds some way to get back to Earth....again.

I didn't watch Thor 2, but

I can't imagine anyone giving the abomination that is Batman vs Superman a pass. How can any superhero movie possibly be worst than this

It could be Catwoman.

I honestly think comic book movie threads are getting worse than gaming side console wars bullshit at this point.

And yeah, I actually liked Thor 2. And the fact that it gets so many people's panties in a twist just makes me like it even more. ;)

I feel like captain America 1 is one is one of the few comic book movies with actual comic book personality. Love that movie. Love the setting.

I think it's funny how badly Thor 2 is thought of, while most of those same people like Star Wars:Attack of the Clones. When they are essentially the same film.

all Thor movies so far have been at the bottom tier of Marvel's cinematic universe, together with the Hulk films if those count. Maybe the next one will fix that issue for both of them

Attack of the Clones at least has Obi Wan vs the non shit of the two Fett's and some interesting story ideas having the emperor effective play both sides of the war to put the empire in power.
