13-2 opens at 524k.

FFXV has potential to do that low? Imo, it's too low.

I think 600k is a lock. If XV is even unable to reach that S-E is screwed. 1 million is impossible first week.

I am going to bet that it did at least 750k in first week lol.(God of Gambling is going to screw me again i bet on it.T_T)

Preorders
[3DS] Pokémon Sun / Moon: 782
[PS4] Final Fantasy XV: 238
[PS4] Persona 5: 211
[PS3] Persona 5: 72
[3DS] Monster Hunter Stories: 38
[PS4] Yakuza 6: 30

As mentioned a few days ago, before the delay FFXV was over 600 points behind XIII, less than half of it's total, it was actually doing on par with XIII-2. 12 weeks before release is when the release date was announced as preorders for XIII started to pick up a lot, something like 12 to 20 points per day, XV barely gets that in a week.

Trying to compare actual Comgnet numbers years apart to draw conclusions is useless. Their system has changed over the years. Comparing the points between current upcoming releases across different sales potential tiers is much more useful.

The Direct directly (never said better) shook things up and stores, as Santy Shop, started to advertise 2DS and the new SKUs for Selects. Kids were the central focus on the advertisements.

Joshin, a major electronic chain, also started the campaign of 2DS. Other games as Pokémon Sun and Moon or PriPara (pre-orders began just this week) were present as well.

Needless to mention, Persona 5 at TSUTAYA.

This seems pretty smart.

Believes Dragon Quest is a franchise managed by Sony
Is the consensus that PS4 has fallen because of low stock? Usually its 20k average..

I mean, it's been in development since 2015 and has been announced as being a 2017 release. I know games get delayed, I'm pretty confident they'll make that since it's obviously their tentpole 2017 title and they're not gonna just ride on licencing and Ys VIII lateport for a year.

It will come out next year. Not sure if will be a Vita version.

Ahh didn't realise they'd laid out a timeframe. I figured the fact that they were debating either to make it PS4 exclusive meant it was quite a ways off.

They said we'll reveal other modes down the line. Project is pretty early on it seems so...

/shrug

It's not pretty early on, it's coming out this Winter (at least in NA/JP).

Is it really confirmed that Tank Troopers is local only? They seemed to tease something for another reveal. That'd be extremely weird if there wasn't a basic online mode.

edit: also not really linked to road to tgs, but the touhou fighting game is getting new hori fight sticks as well.

Local-only, 100% confirmed.

By the way, thanks the ACB (Australian PEGI/ESRB), we know that it's Bamco co-developing Mario Sports Superstars, along with Camelot.

Hm, Namco is supposed to be making several games for NX near launch. And Mario Sports Superstars should come out around then. And having a sports game at launch is always a plus.

Nintendo reviving plans to buy Bamco...

... then Japan.

Lol. But i don't think that is going to happen lol. As i am sure that Japanese government will again comes and tries to make sure that Nintendo does not fully monopoly the gaming market in Japan lol.

Eh? What are we talking here lol,O_O Nintendo employing Higuchi?

Nah just that if Sakurai is done with Smash Bros Higuchi is probably one of the frontrunners for taking over.

Higuchi joining Nintendo isn't impossible though. Hidemaro Fujibayashi worked at Capcom/Flagship on Zelda games after all.

It totally could, at least the traditional market. I highly doubt Nintendo could monopoly mobile market, though.

Unless NX totally bombs Nintendo's marketshare in the traditional market is probably going to increase, perhaps substantially.
Only because they'll be declining slower/less than everyone else.

With Bamco and Nintendo, i think huge market of mobile market will be theirs to own lol.^_^

Nintendo ain't buying Bamco any time soon.

Lol. Of course. Bamco is never going to allow Ninty to come here to buy Bamco lol. There is reason why they chooses to fuse with Bandai before.

This is just taking a jab on the discussion lol.

I remember reading Monolith happened from "stop trying to buy us, here, take Monolith instead". Can't remember where though.

But yeah, Nintendo should definitely work with Higuchi as he did direct Symphonia, Abyss, and Vesperia IIRC. Maybe get him to direct an NX-exclusive RPG if they can.

I believe he worked on Smash 4 also.

MC-Gaf, probably asked to death but...

in 2016, is Persona a bigger IP than Final Fantasy??

I mean, we are expecting P5 to outsell FFXV handily, both FW and LTD, right?

Not at all? P5 will sell very well but it certainly won't handily outsell FF XV. A P5 LTD matching FFXV first week would be considered a success for the franchise imo.

Edit : I'm assuming FF XV will not completely crater.

No, who says that. LTD Persona 5 will likely not reach first week of FFXV.

Sorry, I am terribly misinformed in these things.

just based on hype I see here and around, I would have believed P5 would be the bigger game.

Level 5 continues being the opposite of Nintendo, always concentrated around one franchise. Now that the decline of Yo-kai has started they have to look for the next one.

The debut for KOF isn't much different than the debut for 2002 almost 15 years ago. It's remarkably consistent.

Their conference was full of Youkai Watch wannabes. I think they started looking for the next big hit almost immediately.

It is not a bad strategy though lol.Especially seeing LV-5 record where they had been prove to be able to come out with hits after hits.^_^

I think Level-5 will grow better at managing their franchises, YW is one of L5's biggest hits and they're likely learning on how to adapt and make a bigger market.

Level-5 is probably closer to making as many big projects as Square Enix than ever.

What's the next likely acquisition/merge that'll happen in Japan? I can see Idea Factory and Nippon Ichi finally laying down their swords and taking hands one day.

we have to wait for the next bad capcom quarterly report for ps4 fans to beg sony to buy them out

I don't see much benefit in that for Sony lol.

I think NIS and Capcom are both heading towards that.
